Genuinely I cannot understand why there would be a parents evening this early in term, unless it would be Year 11 and they are with the same teachers as in Year 10. Strange. I think I've had more than enough so far with open evenings and ofsted though so hopefully no more late evenings.
Anyway, I'm counting down the seconds until payday - I still have ds birthday this weekend and I am fairly skint to be honest. I've bagged another nsd today and am continuing my quest to use up much of the foodstuffs we already have in the house.
This week is proving to be another very busy one indeed so I'm hoping for an early finish tonight. I have one more thing to do after I've caught up on here but then it's crochet and tv all the way.Not giving up

Today I am grateful for a mild day, for a good day at work, for time with dd, for getting things done, for recorded rugby, for yummy jacket potato for tea, for earning a little extra money.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Hi all:j
Still only 10/15 NSDs as predicted another spendy day today, first at the hairdressers, then at SM that are near there which I don't get to that often. Stocked up on boring essentials, not fun.
Picked yet more blackberries & some elderberries from the garden whilst cloudy outside but not raining. Also need to bottle plums. Have apple envy.
YS sandwiches for lunch, and also for supper. DD been here but gone to her own home overnight, thank goodness.
Clearing is still going & realise it needs a change of mindset which I am trying to implement. However, the rest of them here didn't get the memo.
Tomorrow will be the first day I don't have to go out or anyone is coming round (I don't think). Looking forwards to doing my own thing for once.
Just realised that part of the bad smell in the DR is due not to the leak, the ceiling or the carpet but probably to the bulbs in a carrier bag, crown imperials smell like....well ugh!! Will be able to plant tomorrow as now we have had some rain it should be OK.

f0xh0les - there was a parents evening for DS last week to talk about GCSE structure, I didn't go, I rarely do, I have never come away with anything useful so I don't bother going to them anymore.
sashanut - this cycling event is causing some real problems, you have to be out of Harrogate by 10am in your car or you have to stay there until 6pm I was told yesterday. Crazy, what do you do if you want to leave work at 5pm, I don't know if that is the whole town centre but it seems very disruptive.
Picked a lot of apples yesterday, some are in the fruit bowl for eating and the rest have been stewed and frozen with one tub in the fridge to go on my porridge.
Work today.
Payday for DH today so all Octobers budgets have been set and money moved to the relevant pots already.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

DS1 is going back to school today after his vomiting episode. DS4 went to bed at 5 last night as he felt sick. He is a mess this morning I have sent him back to bed.
Today will be cancelled due to illness, so NSD 16 is in the (sick)bag. Also means I can bail on DS3s parents' info evening- it starts at 5pm. Who can make 5pm? Stupid time.
So will cancel volunteering, look after DS4, and do stuff in the house today.
It is raining.

Today I am grateful for not having sick children (hugs f0xh0les) and not having any apples.
Several years ago mum asked for the windfalls from someone's trees. Man turned up with two carrier bags full of the smallest apples I have ever seen. It was when mum had started being ill but had not yet been diagnosed. I went one day and she was struggling to hold the knife or see what she was doing.
I started to help, all her other visitors left (useless lot). The apples were so small that I was only getting 2 or 3 pieces out of some of them. Worked till my hands cramped and were sore from the juice. Then I went back the next day despite struggling to walk (before my own diagnosis which led to the total hip replacement) to complete the task and cook them all. Again with visitors who did not muck in but kept up a steady commentary on my technique (I was doing it 'wrong' - because the *%*^* apples were too small).
Won't bore you with the sick stories, you all know how it goes.

Still having a spendy September... sigh..... am managing to get rid of 'stuff' here and there, though - which is cheering
Bored of the rain - I have washing to get dry and I really dislike tumble dried laundry (it smells and feels 'wrong') - have been playing washing hokey-cokey today
I have bags and bags and bags of apples and pears to process here... 1 large carrier of pears processed today - I'm taking it slowlyI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Still on NSD No 15
Definitely my last NSD this month. Off tomorrow for three weeks but will still try to be frugal.
The cheque arrived today. Too late for me to bank it but it's nice to actually have it. I keep taking it out and looking at it just to make sure it's real.
Thanks for September, Dolly. See you all in November.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

Hi EJM2019
If you go to post 308 on this thread and click on the link (in blue), it should take you to October's thread which I am running. I wrote it in a rush as my laptop was failing. When you are in October's thread click on the link at the top of the page which says 'thread tools' and click in subscribe to this thread. After that it should appear in your list every time you click on 'User Area'
I have just written some guidance as some people thought it was confusing. AN NSD is a No Spend Day. We count them to avoid popping into the shop to get one or two items and coming out with a basketful. We try to think about what we need, avoid impulse buys and only spend on a limited number of days in the month.
Tell me if anything else needs explaining. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
