Another unexpected NSD 19 !!! Was about to go and spend money, when I realised being one street away from the football ground an hour before the match started was not wise. So made a lemon drizzle cake and some scones, and will absolutely have to spend some money tomorrow.

I've been outside 4 times, got wet the first two - not soaking but enough to make me miserable. Third time I quit hen it was dark enough to be dangerous. I have cut back some brambles and self seeded roses but there are still some out there as well as low growing branches of pyracantha with needle thorns.

Climbed onto one of the samll raised beds to get nearer to some ivy/ pyracantha and exhausted myself. Fourth time I went out was after a break to get my breath back and I went to pick up all the ivy leaves by the gate to avoid slipping on them sometime in the week. At least I can see what I've done. Moved several other things that were on the floor but can't get as far as the corner yet.

Did more sewing whilst watching an old movie. Think I've finished the blue and green (all but a few stitches) and have all the gold border and about half of the outlining done (the gold is the outlines of the Celtic knots, filled in with 2 shades of purpley blue and some tiny bits in emerald green. Cuthulhu and the wording are already done just need to finish this bit and decide if it needs more. Always difficult to decide.

One load of clothes set off, dishwasher emptied and put on again. part emptied (was doing all these in between other activities). So good effort with the yard (it's not being called a garden until I've sorted a lot more and have things growing that I've put here), progress on embroidery pieces and a bit knocked off the domestic mountain.

Today I am grateful for not getting soaked, for my willow obelisks (one fell to pieces in my hands today) for years of faithful service and for dogs (saw one that was going on strike the other day - reluctantly crossed the road and then slumped to the pavement forcing his owner to either wait, pick him up and carry him or drag him along).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

    Hi all:j

Well definitely not an NSD today as out for the yarny festival which did involve some purchases although not too many this time...am learning. Still 13/15 NSDs

Was shocked to see how much flooding there was on the way there, it looked like the Lake District, only it should have been fields..

Felt sorry for some of the exhibitors as the rain was coming through the roof in places.

Came back, then quick cup of tea & made a DH birthday cake, then made supper that he requested. We're going out for a meal for his birthday, but not till Tuesday as it's the cheap offer then (very MSE).

May get one more NSD tomorrow, all being well. Pretty tired, just realised I was walking for 3 hours nonstop, that could be why.

No clearing etc done today, actually the complete opposite as lots of cooking etc & no time to clear up. It will have to wait now till tomorrow.

Popping in to say hi: Hello turtles!!

    Hi folks

So it's the end of september already, I dont know where the month has gone! I managed to keep it simple though by doing lots of overtime on days off and keeping spends low. I have lost count of NSDs but as long as I know I am spending on things I need at any given moment then I am not too stressed.

Yesterday (after friday pay day) I bought babycat a fine harness and am hoping to get him used to it so we can go on little adventures in the spring. I also bought nice wet food as a treat and ordered a big bag of litter off £bay. I had my eye on an igloo bed which looks lovely and cosy and I think will keep him nice and warm during the cold winter months. I may pick that up later.

Despite feeling guilty about not doing extra shifts, l am enjoying a lay in this morning with puss and with the talk of apples I am going to make an apple crumble later this afternoon so will get some bits from Tesc. I think I'll take the electric bike into town to avoid traffic providing the rain stays off.

Thanks Dolly for this months challenge :) see you all in october

I was ready for Oct 1st post - and then realised it was still Sept today! :D

Simplicity - dropped off a large box and a binliner full of various items to CS this morning - OH had a wardrobe sort out, so there are 2 virtually unworn good name suits, a linen jacket (worn once), several J3ff Banks and J0hn R0cha shirts in there (all worn maybe half a dozen times) amongst the haul - along with some books, some Ed1nburgh crystal glasses (couldn't be bothered to try flebay as I don't know which pattern they are), costume jewellery (my sort out :D) & other various random bits. Also posted a flebay sale parcel (more stuff gone - yippee!) and have a bag of items by front door for DS2's school for the PTA.

Picked some pears this morning - will poach in red wine/ oj/ spices for a decadent dessert for the next couple of days (we have a bottle of red open which needs using up - it's already been open a while) Forgot to get cream when at Icyland :( so will ask OH to get some on his way home. Did use a £5 off £20 voucher at Icyland (rather good deal, I thought) - and gained a £5 off £40 spend one, to be used by 13/10, so will need to give that one some thought.

Washing is out on the line - heavy rain apparently due this afternoon, so will maybe have to finish it on airer (ready and waiting by the patio doors)

'Twas a spendy September, for various reasons, most of which were unavoidable (eg: MOT/ service) (flights were unavoidable, I guess - but were a very deliberate and considered purchase (and ill-timed, as it happened - being TC00k flights...))

    Bring on October :)

Kids are pretending to be ill - two weeks til half term. It is always so, after the long summer holiday, they are ready for a week off once the homework becomes more regular.

  • Urgh bad day today, dropped my phone and cracked the screen (gee thanks, unmarked screen protector!!!) and have now found a hole in the side of my tooth. I'm hoping it's just where a filling has come out - that's definitely the tooth I had a filling in, just no idea where it went as she numbed it. If not, I've got a hole in my tooth after getting told they were fine a few months ago  can't stop touching it now I've noticed it either :(
  • Thank you for September Dolly! I've enjoyed the simplicity of it.

Today I am grateful for a good day at work, for a decent night's sleep, for time to help some pupils with their work, for feeling appreciated, for it not raining until I was very nearly home, for dh getting tea all prepped, for lovely hugs from dd, for dh folding the washing and putting another load in.

I'm grateful for the chance to go away on the spur of the moment, for sleep (when I get it!) and for free kindle books from kindofbook :)
