Today is dragging, really quiet in work. I much prefer to be a busy headless chicken.
Wet day outside so not venturing out to spend anything NSD now 11/15.
Grateful for
Lovely neighbours and friends - seemed to encounter all of them last night, took ages having a small walk but nice to be sociable.
Hot showers - the only thing helping my upper back and arm in the am.
Rain pausing - so I can do some exercise when I finish work. Walkies!LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Deni - belated happy birthday! to dd1.
Calling - hope littlest gd is ok.
Laurenh - hope the funeral went as well as it could. They are never easy situations.
Dolly - I tried a gf vegan pizza. Once. Totally not worth it!
Today I am grateful for being able to do a nearly-normal kettlebell workout, for a good day, for an excellent meeting with the head cook at the posh school, for good buses, for a window quote that was half the previous one, for the jasmine starting to flower, for finishing some tasks, for a good swim with dd.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Today is an NSD :j:j:j
Weather was horrible. Mum needed a bit of shopping and there were one or two things I could think of that would help me. Putting mum's bedding on the line and making her bed has messed up my back so totally wanted to hide under the bedclothes.
However I have started to get showered much earlier in my morning routine so pulled some clothes on and took advantage of a break in the rain to zig zag across town to Icyland (using the bus station and shopping arcade as they were under cover and had seats to rest on).
Used a trolley as I needed something to hold onto, put all the shopping on mum's card (I paid for her milk yesterday and some items were for me to eat at her house) then caught a taxi from there.
Put the shopping away slowly and have had a restful afternoon (mum watched a film and then had a nap in her chair).
I think we are moving to a different stage in mum's care needs. She raised the possibility of buying a new single bed for her - probably a hospital type one where you could set it in different positions (including safety sides). If the bed she is currently using were moved into the small bedroom, I could sleep there when I sleep overnight.
I measured using a broom handle and the bed does fit in there (it was quite crowded when the single bed was in there) and there is room although you would have to choose to block off either the patio doors or the cupboards. I have been thinking about more overnight stays being needed.
Today she has thought some more and is thinking of putting the single bed in the small room, moving a large and small chest of drawers and leaving me with the big bed and the bigger room.
We are still a long way off me needing to be there full time but the whole tenor of the discussion has changed from two years ago when she blithely stated that if she needed more help I would have to share her bed (after which I went home and fretted and woke in the middle of the night saying "Even a dog gets its own bed").
So the start of another change, hopefully to be done in gradual stages.
Today I am grateful for dodging the rain, for all the places that had seats (did consider dropping into my bank and a solicitor's to ask if I could sit down for five minutes - I have noticed signs for a new scheme that we were told about at film club. Following on from the autism friendly signs, some local shops are signing up to the 'age friendly' scheme. These shops will have a chair for sitting down and some will offer you a cup of tea or phone a relative to come to you if you are unwell) and good reading (and pasta salad). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all:j
Minimise: Book to CS & package posted. Sadly more books came back with me..
Bills Looking to get some secondary DG on our old windows to help with heating this place. This will be a long-term project IMHO. To that end:
Clutter: Lots to clear before even survey to do windows could be organised. Keeping going with the clutter, a little every day. I WILL get this house cleared. More clearing done, hoping that the 'puddles' will eventually join into a lake..will do another bit after this post. Trying to do a little each day, will do some more now. Not much done on this today, busy as CS stint then weekly visit from friend. Dolly84 - our CS frowns on more donations being brought in as we get so much stuff....apparently yesterday they had to offload 4 van loads of stuff to another of our shops in the next town...
Spending: Need to budget for groceries. Starting with £300 including pet food. Have receipt ready to file, but about £35/300. Spending today - shopping day, am renaming it 'diddled by Lidl' day as every time I go they overcharge me. I'm in such a rush (shopping done in 20 mins before CS stint) that I don't have time to check receipt whilst in shop & then invariably find have been overcharged, charged for more items than I bought etc. but only my word against theirs as I have left the shop I suppose..sigh. Had even less time today as car broke down round corner, had to come back, get other car so superfast whizz round & yes, checked receipt just now & overcharged again..
Unnecessary spends: None today.
Waste: No waste today
Maximise:
Dreams (dream big): Would like to fit the DG as mentioned earlier, also need the driveway doing but would be a very large amount of cash as it's so big....Clearing the clutter will help enormously with this, both financially & in the long term. Outside painting needed now, will be a big job & need scaffolding. This again will be £££. Sold 2 DVDs & was paid for those. Was paid again for the DVDs - will have to refund though..Aim to sell some items tomorrow as it is forecast to be sunny - so can photograph things & also people more inclined to buy summer clothing...that's the theory anyhow! Have sold 3 items now so will keep on with it & have transferred money into b/a. Will press on with this.
Fruit and veg intake: Definitely need to increase F&V consumption, on this. Fruit eaten & some veg incorporated into supper. Same again today. Not too bad with f&V today.
Getting niggly jobs done: Painting inside & out, get builder to fit cowl on chimneys, get chimney swept, painting outside as well. All our jobs are niggly, but DH did get some outstanding ones done. Need to cut down some vegetation at gate as DH scraped the old car as the gate won't now fully open, so now a Priority. Also a couple of little jobs for DH, flushed with his success with the DW he may be amenable. Which is appropriate as one of them is tightening the toilet seat.... He actually cut down the stuff at the gate today. None today, although I did sort out a load of packaging so now it is ready for my next sales instead of running round like a headless chicken trying to find a bag to put the stuff in. No little jobs today.
Health: Lose approx. a stone & a half. Am trying with this, helps that DD is not here. Feel slimmer - does that count? Weigh in shows no loss - no gain either though! Still on it. Not too bad today although made scones & ate one. Scone may have been eaten again. Hmm Tonight was a doughnut & DD brought back cake from her friends house party. Diet not very good today, lets see what the scales say. Weigh in today & yet again no change.
Meal Planning: Need to meal plan as tend to go with the flow, and it doesn't always work out. Have plenty of food in but still need to plan. Have a vague plan for tomorrow but need to clear fridges to check on supplies. Not done as no time today.
Moving more - Most exercise taken as gardening. Todays exercise was stint in CS as it is non-stop & no breaks or sitting down..
Time with those you love: Visit from friend today, good to see her but sad for her too.
NSD: still 13/15

Hello,
Well, so far so good. DH got paid yesterday, paid some money to his mate and took a HM lunch today (which he only used to do towards the end of the month when skint). I'll check in with him after the weekend and see how he's getting on with his spending diary.
Will do a food inventory today, go for a run and study for my course. Dinner is in the slow cooker, Korean beef.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
sashanut - I feel exactly the same about Lidl, it is a horrible experience imo and not worth any savings (I don't find it much cheaper on the whole either), the staff rush so they scan things more than once, the price on the shelf edge isn't always for the item on the shelf or they just charge a different price anyway and lots of things don't even have a price on the shelf. It is like a blooming olympic sport trying to get everything off the end of the till and the queues are too long.
My car repair didn't come under the warranty and ended up costing £217, luckily we have a pot for car expenses. I had to have the rear shock absorbers replaced and it totally due to one particular road that I have to drive 4 times a day on school days. No other spends yesterday, groceries are being delivered today. Payday for DH today plus he has got backdated pay from last years payrise and one month of this years payrise as the union and the company finally agreed. It was quite a big chunk so that has gone straight into savings.
Watched Hugh FW plastic programme last night and was appalled at how McD's treated those two young girls with the petition, the older girl was amazing and it was sad to see her realising what a horrible world we live in. McD's have now joined my list of companies I will no longer buy from.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I really like LIDL (and find it cheaper, Aldi is even better) but will check the receipt better next time, never had any issues so far. Our queues aren't too bad either and even better the LIDL closest to us has opened self check out counters recently. So I can take my time. Must depend on how a store is run I guess.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Hi all,
Today is NSD number 14. Lunch consists of left over salad, and is fairly dull but it needed eating & has filled my belly so mustn't grumble.
My sons have sold yet more toys & are currently in the process of deciding what they might like to buy with their cash. I am trying to start them off with a basic understanding of the value of money.
My clever 2 year old is making great progress with his potty training & so far is much easier than my eldest ever was, we are only putting nappies on at night now which is great.
I dont love my Lidl either but they do the best nappies & rhubarb in :rotfl:love my Aldi but they just did a huge refurb & I csnt find anything :D0 -

she was a lovely sparky child. I hope the attitude that McD's showed will come back to bite them.
I've really liked those programmes, I've kept parts of them on my recorder to watch again, and I'm going to be working *really* hard to not be part of the problem.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
