Just a couple more days to go in June. It has flown by!

Mothernerd - are you still ok for doing July?

Yes, have been thinking about it trying to tie in all my vague ideas. To be honest I had a brilliant idea when I volunteered but can't think exactly what it was - I'm getting old.

RE: HFW There is a social media type campaign for the first week of July to send back all unwanted plastic packaging to the FREEPOST address of the customer services department of the major supermarkets. As it worked so well with the W4lkers crisp campaign, it is worth a try. You just write the # on and post. There is a list of all the FREEPOST addresses online, just google it.

We took ours back to the store with the # and a message on it, took a photo of ourselves and posted on social media.

Payday for me today, my pay goes into an account with a free overdraft which I use like a cc, I paid off the small o/d, left about £20 in and transferred the rest to savings.

Small spend by DH on snacks but nothing else.

Someone at work was telling me today that their work canteen bill comes straight out of the bank on payday, this months bill was over £140 and was mainly coffee:eek:, my horrified reaction to this got a double take. I've been there a couple of months and never spent a penny.

July thread. Formatting went a bit awry and changes viewpoint quite often. Will try to tidy it up later.

    Hi all:j

Minimise: DH removed & binned lots of OOD items from cellar. He refused to let me look....he said the worst one was dated bbe 2005..

Bills Looking to get some secondary DG on our old windows to help with heating this place. This will be a long-term project IMHO. To that end:

    Clutter:
Lots to clear before even survey to do windows could be organised. Keeping going with the clutter, a little every day. I WILL get this house cleared. More clearing done, hoping that the 'puddles' will eventually join into a lake..will do another bit after this post. Trying to do a little each day, will do some more now. Kitchen shelves nearly done, cupboards now need lining.

Spending: Need to budget for groceries. Starting with £300 including pet food. Have receipt ready to file, but about £35/300. No spending today.

    Unnecessary spends: None today.

Waste: Had to chuck 2 slimy courgettes, been left in dog fridge & forgotten about.

    Maximise:
Dreams (dream big): Would like to fit the DG as mentioned earlier, also need the driveway doing but would be a very large amount of cash as it's so big....Clearing the clutter will help enormously with this, both financially & in the long term. Outside painting needed now, will be a big job & need scaffolding. This again will be £££. Sold 2 DVDs & was paid for those. Was paid again for the DVDs - will have to refund though..Aim to sell some items tomorrow as it is forecast to be sunny - so can photograph things & also people more inclined to buy summer clothing...that's the theory anyhow! Have sold 3 items now so will keep on with it & have transferred money into b/a. Will press on with this. Used cash to pay back joint a/c for holiday spends today. Not done much today tbh, other than cut grass.

Fruit and veg intake: Definitely need to increase F&V consumption, on this. Fruit eaten & some veg incorporated into supper. Pretty good today, cous cous & salad veg at lunchtime, some fruit with breakfast & throughout the day, some veg in sauce for meatballs pasta tonight.

    Getting niggly jobs done:
Painting inside & out, get builder to fit cowl on chimneys, get chimney swept, painting outside as well. All our jobs are niggly, but DH did get some outstanding ones done. Finally potted up some plants in pots ready to put out. Forgot & left pots out & dog got into one, pulled out all plants and ate compost. Then ate grass cuttings whilst defending them from all comers by growling horribly. She is truly a) a survivor, b) an omnivore and c) ridiculous

Health: Lose approx. a stone & a half. Am trying with this, helps that DD is not here. Feel slimmer - does that count? Weigh in shows no loss - no gain either though! Still on it. Not too bad today although made scones & ate one. Scone may have been eaten again. Hmm Tonight was a doughnut & DD brought back cake from her friends house party. Diet not very good today, lets see what the scales say. Weigh in today & yet again no change. Feel slimmer, well new shoes fit fine..

Meal Planning: Need to meal plan as tend to go with the flow, and it doesn't always work out. Have plenty of food in but still need to plan. All food from stores today & hopefully will be for next week whilst DD is away. Am running out of a few things but nothing major so far.

Moving more - Most exercise taken as gardening. Gardening today, morning & then cut all the back grass. Very warm.

Time with those you love: Lunch with family.

    NSD: now 15/15

Many thanks for running the thread for June - Apple..

Today I am hiding from the fiery ball of radiation in the sky!

Supposed to be buying DS1 his new college wardrobe, but so far no sign of the lazy baggage. Going to try and herd DS2 into a gentleman's hair salon, so far no sign of the lazy baggage.

Collected DS3 &4 from school playing field camp out last night - tired and whiny (them not me), and made them go to ping pong at 9.

It is roasting already, DH is in the living room and he is wearing a jumper and socks !! (not just a jumper and socks- fear ye not!). My men are bizarre.

Pay will not hit my bank account until Monday I think (boo!)
Confirmation one passport is on its way home (yay!) it has taken less than 10 days from submission.

So stuff is getting done. The world is getting stranger. I am going to find a nice cold rock to hide under (or an air conditioned retail outlet if DS1 gets his butt out from under his duvet).

I am beginning to resent being the only morning person in our household. I need to get out more (with sunscreen).

  • Morning everyone
Thanks to dolly and f0xh0les for the update re HFW - it's good to see we are all waking up to the plastic crisis. I'm trying to buy F&V from the green grocers to support local shops rather than SMs - I don't think it's more expensive and they seem to have less packaging too.
I had my car repaired on Thursday at a cost of £175 which isn't too bad for a garage bill... I also did a massive walk (in the scorching heat) as I borrowed DD1's car for an essential journey then had to return it to her work and walk to the hairdressers - it took me an hour and I was a red faced sweating blob when I got there - then I had to look at myself in the mirror for 1.5 hours which wasn't a pretty sight (although my hair did look nice :) After that exertion I still went to pilates :)
I've mostly been eating from stores. Been eating too much sugary carp as DD2 and I are helping DD1 get through all her birthday goodies (aren't we kind ?!)
I tried on some clothes in a CS yesterday which were quite nice but I didn't really need another white cardi even if it was Per Una and £5 so I put it back!
Today I am avoiding the sun and doing some of my self employment and going to the PO to pay my C/tax bill and nipping for a few food essentials.
Gratitudes - all yesterday - a quiet day at my FT job ; managed to calm down DD2 who was having a confidence crisis but then apologised for being a k**b which shows how much she has matured; DD2 looking good in shorts and having the confidence to wear them (she has had serious eating issues which she is recovering from): DD1 having a lovely meal out with her boyfriend and looking good in red trousers - a change from her usual black!; ending a hot and busy day with laughter thanks to The Last Leg :)
Have a good day everyone & 'see' you later
    Deni

apple muncher - Thanks for the hug. I was told what the scan showed up what the issue was. Luckily it crossed off my worst fear.
    NSd's are now 23/20.
    Grateful for:
Taking a rather chilled out day.
Putting the recycling into the recycling communal bin.
Watched a film that I recorded.
    Doing self care.
