  • Hi all

I watched last week's Hugh FW programme and it has made me think about minimising my own environmental impact as much as possible. I will try to watch this week's on iplayer.
I've been working at home today as my car is in the garage and not ready till tomorrow. I've only been outside to hang out washing. will hopefully have a walk later but waiting for a parcel to be delivered soon...
    Eaten all meals from stores.
Just remembered I haven't done any SB surveys for ages so I've just done 3 and got 200+ points :)
I've been reading a Sally Rooney book which i'm really enjoying.
Not looking forward to my car bill tomorrow :(
Gratitudes: productive day at home; relaxed lunch at home; dry day so can get washing line dried; lovely long sleep last night
    bye for now

Today I am grateful for time off work to go to dd's sports morning, for dd enjoying the event, for the tennis, for my knitting, for the breeze, for seeing several tiny butterflies, for dh making an appt for the window man to do proper measurements, for dd playing outside in the garden.

A gratitude exercise is good. I'm grateful for:
    - apple not only doing this as a whole, but showing me I can also do just a part, not the whole list.
    - my U3A Ancient Civilisations Group I managed to get to this morning, it was interesting and I made a couple of steps in talking to people.
    - worked at getting back on track in the garden too, a *lot* of weeds were easy to pull, because of all the rain.

    Hi all:j

Minimise: Only weeds minimised today. And bird mess off our outside furniture, ugh. However, did then enjoy a brew outside with DH this afternoon, so worth it.

Bills Looking to get some secondary DG on our old windows to help with heating this place. This will be a long-term project IMHO. To that end:

Clutter: Lots to clear before even survey to do windows could be organised. Keeping going with the clutter, a little every day. I WILL get this house cleared. More clearing done, hoping that the 'puddles' will eventually join into a lake..will do another bit after this post. Trying to do a little each day, will do some more now. Also started in kitchen where I have open shelves instead of cupboards. Have done one shelf & I think it will work much better. Unholy mess on worktops now however..

Spending: Need to budget for groceries. Starting with £300 including pet food. Have receipt ready to file, but about £35/300. Interesting to hear all the Liddly diddly stories - I go to our local one as it's virtually next door to the CS where I work & so I can nip in & get the weekly essentials, saving me a trip later in the week. However, it's a very small branch with no self checkouts - which I prefer because then if there's a mistake it's mine. Plus also earlyish in the morning they have not stocked the shelves so there's frequently items missing, presumably till later in the day. They need more staff I would say..

Unnecessary spends: More footwear may have been bought, totally unnecessary..

Waste: No waste today, am now logging ins/outs of freezer.

    Maximise:
Dreams (dream big): Would like to fit the DG as mentioned earlier, also need the driveway doing but would be a very large amount of cash as it's so big....Clearing the clutter will help enormously with this, both financially & in the long term. Outside painting needed now, will be a big job & need scaffolding. This again will be £££. Sold 2 DVDs & was paid for those. Was paid again for the DVDs - will have to refund though..Aim to sell some items tomorrow as it is forecast to be sunny - so can photograph things & also people more inclined to buy summer clothing...that's the theory anyhow! Have sold 3 items now so will keep on with it & have transferred money into b/a. Will press on with this. Used cash to pay back joint a/c for holiday spends today.

Fruit and veg intake: Definitely need to increase F&V consumption, on this. Fruit eaten & some veg incorporated into supper. Pretty good today.

Getting niggly jobs done: Painting inside & out, get builder to fit cowl on chimneys, get chimney swept, painting outside as well. All our jobs are niggly, but DH did get some outstanding ones done. Need to cut down some vegetation at gate as DH scraped the old car as the gate won't now fully open, so now a Priority. Also a couple of little jobs for DH, flushed with his success with the DW he may be amenable. Which is appropriate as one of them is tightening the toilet seat.... He actually cut down the stuff at the gate today. None today, although I did sort out a load of packaging so now it is ready for my next sales instead of running round like a headless chicken trying to find a bag to put the stuff in. Deadheaded hanging baskets today after all the rain, what a nuisance.

Health: Lose approx. a stone & a half. Am trying with this, helps that DD is not here. Feel slimmer - does that count? Weigh in shows no loss - no gain either though! Still on it. Not too bad today although made scones & ate one. Scone may have been eaten again. Hmm Tonight was a doughnut & DD brought back cake from her friends house party. Diet not very good today, lets see what the scales say. Weigh in today & yet again no change. Will persevere.

    Meal Planning:
Need to meal plan as tend to go with the flow, and it doesn't always work out. Have plenty of food in but still need to plan. Have a vague plan for tomorrow but need to clear fridges to check on supplies. Have a vague plan & still eating from stores/freezer fridge & pantry.

Moving more - Most exercise taken as gardening. Gardening today, will need to plant out lots of things.

Time with those you love: Visit from DD who came for supper & brought some things from her pantry...she's using me to get rid of stuff she won't use. Makes a change, yesterday was a huge sack of pasta (apparently she has 2) - I will definitely use.

    NSD: still stubbornly 13/15

    Hi guys
I haven’t popped by much this month but today I must draw a line under this month and start afresh.
I’ve totally lost the plot this month. We’ve been really short staffed at work recently and my boss has been putting loads of extra hours on my rota (nice for the money I know but all I’m doing is working and sleeping) I’m so so tired. Anyway I’ve finally had a word and I’m going back down to my set hours next week. There’s been a knock on effect of eating badly, the house being a tip etc plus hay fever and the heat making me feel dreadful. Anyway two more longer shifts then back down to normal.
We go on holiday next week so chance to recharge my batteries and then onwards and upwards.
So I’m grateful for the good weather, for my boss being understanding about me struggling with the hours he’s been giving me and for a bit of peace and quiet before I start my day.
    Have a good day guys

Karmacat/Deni - McDonalds have had a huge backlash on Twitter and everywhere else probably and have had to issue a statement and they have invited the girls in to discuss the issue. Shame on them.

Work today so should be a NSD. It is quite remarkable that I only ever work on the sunny days, yesterday I cycled with a long sleeve jersey, coat and headscarf it was that cold.

    Yesterday was NSD #13

I think I might miss out on my NSD today as I am going to buy some stuff from the ASOS sales, show them to my mum for her expert opinion (since mums are always right), return what we don't like and my mum will give me money for what I do (for my birthday).

I don't expect to be buying anything else mind you. And come to think of it, since I will be getting the money back, have I ruined a NSD?

    Hello,

not checking in as often as I should but plodding on. Not sure how many NSDs I have but had a few more over the last few days. Slowly getting back into the rhythm of doing this. As I've been away from this for a while this is my training month and it'll go a lot better next month. Positive, I stuck around till the end of the month first time in a long time :j

Got my lunch and snacks, even DH took a lunch again :D. Simple sausage dinner tonight and I'll prep lasagne stretched with loads of veggies tonight. Only took a small pack of mince out on purpose to use up some wonky veg.

Will tweak my shopping list today and keep putting of going as to use up what we have. Will definitely have to go tomorrow night or Sat morning.

I guess it would count like having a voucher, so NSD saved as you'll not be spending money in the end?
