Hi all,
Just checking in!
NSD yesterday which gets me to 11, but today wasn't one as I took the boy to the cinema to see Toy storyI don't usually go except for the pound kids showing on sat & Sunday morning but I made an exception.
Complained to Amazon after something I ordered for my kids came in torn packaging, they let me keep the item & refunded the full amount remarkably. :money:
Used up another Easter egg by doing some biscuits for my neighbor who was very complimentary of my last batch when she popped in for a brew. I hope she wasnt just being polite :rotfl::rotfl:
Off to bamburgh castle tomorrow with the little ones, picnic packed.
Have a lovely weekend guys0 -
Hi all:j
Minimise: The lawns and some of the broken plastic piping from the DW.....and more of the dogs
Bills Looking to get some secondary DG on our old windows to help with heating this place. This will be a long-term project IMHO. To that end:
Clutter: Lots to clear before even survey to do windows could be organised. Keeping going with the clutter, a little every day. I WILL get this house cleared. More clearing done, hoping that the 'puddles' will eventually join into a lake..will do another bit after this post. Trying to do a little each day, will do some more now.
Spending: Need to budget for groceries. Starting with £300 including pet food. Have receipt ready to file, but about £35/300. Was going to be an NSD but had to pay for a book, then had a voucher expiring for 25% off ferry crossing so booked trip for November. Used CB as well so came in very cheaply. None today.
Unnecessary spends Not as such although book could be classed as such, as holiday also. Is necessary though, or will be by November..No spends today.
Waste: No waste today
Maximise:
Dreams (dream big): Would like to fit the DG as mentioned earlier, also need the driveway doing but would be a very large amount of cash as it's so big....Clearing the clutter will help enormously with this, both financially & in the long term. Outside painting needed now, will be a big job & need scaffolding. This again will be £££. Sold 2 DVDs & was paid for those. Was paid again for the DVDs - will have to refund though..Aim to sell some items tomorrow as it is forecast to be sunny - so can photograph things & also people more inclined to buy summer clothing...that's the theory anyhow!
Fruit and veg intake: Definitely need to increase F&V consumption, on this. Fruit eaten & some veg incorporated into supper.
Getting niggly jobs done: Painting inside & out, get builder to fit cowl on chimneys, get chimney swept, painting outside as well. All our jobs are niggly, but DH did get some outstanding ones done. Still need to see if the DW will work with the new hose he bought x weeks ago...will remind him yet again tomorrow. Perpetual problem, will remind again although he's out all day tomorrow. Maybe he will have a go on Friday. Reminded him tonight, he said 'remind him again tomorrow'. Reminded him - again - the DW is now fixed!! Have been without since last August...fgs. Cost was less than £15 for the bits, after we sent the new one back costing £375...Yayy!!
Health: Lose approx. a stone & a half. Am trying with this, helps that DD is not here. Feel slimmer - does that count? Weigh in shows no loss - no gain either though! Still on it. Not too bad today although made scones & ate one. No scones but did make some savoury & sweet twists and ate some of those, however they are lower in cals, honest.
Meal Planning: Need to meal plan as tend to go with the flow, and it doesn't always work out. Have plenty of food in but still need to plan. Still need to sort rest of week depending on who is here.
Moving more - Most exercise taken as gardening. Todays exercise was cutting the grass & housework.
Time with those you love: DH & DD today, plus the animals.
NSD: now 11/15

Morning everyone and happy sunny Saturday !
Sorry I've been AWOL for a couple of days. I was at self employment job #2 on Thursday (same as Weds) and I have to turn the work round really quickly. I managed to finish by 11pm on Thursday night and submitted my invoice straight afterWAs at self employment #1 on Friday and then drove to uni to bring DD2 home
We walked to a cafe in the sunshine and had a lovely late lunch together then drove home. Managed to mow the lawn in the evening. Got in lots of steps and vitamin D yesterday
I've got one load of uni washing on the line and second load in the machine.
Spendwise - small food shops but using up stocks too - discovered we'd run out of spaghetti yesterday! My food waste bin is getting much smaller as is my household waste. Also bought DD1 another birthday present.
Got to take DD2 for a hospital appointment today and will probably treat her to a drive through coffee on way home.
Gratitudes - DD2 is home from uni and has lots of nice plans for summer; smooth journeys to and from uni; dry weather so can get loads of washing dry; lovely colleagues at self employment roles

Minimise:
-bills (change provider, reduce your usage)
Spoken with my broadband provider, 18 month contract saves me from the new 25% increase, takes me back to what its been for the past 2 years, £30 pm with unlimited broadband and phone bills. Result!
-screen time (you’ll sleep better, get more done, be more sociable…)
Not great, but not terrible
.
-spending
Pretty good: I celebrated my new kitchen by buying a pair of stainless steel crumpet moulds, total cost £6.
-toxic situations and people (set yourself free from their entangling tentacles)
I'm a bit rubbish at this, but I'm carrying on as best I can.
-unloved items (someone else can love them instead)
Mega good :rotfl: ornaments to the charity shop today, and I'll be enquiring at the local Curry's about recycling little electrical items (its on their website) and also ... wires. Lots of wires.
-wants ( at heart, we are simple folk who don’t need much)
I am in need of modern trousers/jeans. Desperate need.
Maximise:
-dreams (dream big)
Now my kitchen is finished <breaks into song and dance> dreams are up there at priority number one.
-education: learn to do something new (from plumbing to breakdancing)
I love learning new stuff, but I rarely take classes. I do go to the odd lecture series - U3A, and I'm rejoining my county's Egyptology association, which is huge (1000+) and gets top notch lecturers.
-fruit and veg intake (we know the health benefits)
Bad, quite frankly. Now my kitchen's back in operation, this has to improve drastically.
-fun + laughter (so important!)
Feels easier over the last few days (kitchen is finished!)
-getting niggly jobs done (then they can stop bugging you)
Thats mostly what my life has been over the last few weeks!
-health (don’t pay for health issues later in life – be healthy now!)
Okay - I'm not actively ill right now, and the more niggly jobs get finished, the better I feel, but my adrenaline output is still off the charts
-inner ninja superpowers (we all have them. Dust down the cape)
hypnotising builders? Pretty good, actually
-pennies (they are powerful. Treasure them)
I'm amazed I completed the broadband thing. Next is the conversation with the mobile phone provider, and sorting out an ISA, which will be easy by comparison.
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Small spends on the last few days so no extra NSDs. On Thursday I spent some time cheerleading DS3. He wanted to know how to motivate himself. I ended up advising him to do something different or take a break.
I think the notification of his greatly reduced WTC had upset him but it's because he is earning a lot more. He does work very hard (doesn't look like he's working as most of it is done in bed or semi recumbent on the couch but he's attached to the laptop unless he's actually asleep.
He said he had a store of characters and backgrounds already drawn but doesn't know what to do with them. Suggested various things and a list of tactics but think he needs to step away from it to get some perspective.
Foot/ ankle have been hurting a lot for the past two days. Yesterday was a very creaky day, did part of my exercise class sitting down and still got anxious glances from one of the course leaders when bits were obviously hurting. Put myself down as a 17 on the borg scale - everything was more effort as I was under par but definitely could not have carried on any sort of conversation.
Having a slow day today. I rolled the quilt up again and have had the ankle propped up all night and most of the day. All the other bits have stopped hurting and the ankle is much better (and no painkillers). Will do some basic practical things in 15 minute chunks but try to remember the quilt roll for nights.
Today I am grateful for lovely weather (wary of going out in it as hayfever is in top gear), for a lovely rainbow and the full moon and good books. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all:j
Minimise: minimised 3 huge clumps of this stuff that pops up everywhere in my garden, curse the previous owners for planting it...looks like a kind of grass on steroids. Determined to dig it up so my outlook to the greenhouse is much nicer, lugged it down the garden & chucked over gate into wild (ahem) garden at the back...
Not done yesterday as ironing needed doing instead.

Waste: No waste today, used up some steak mince DD brought over.

Not done yet, phooey
Fruit and veg intake: Definitely need to increase F&V consumption, on this. Fruit eaten & some veg incorporated into supper. Same again today.
Getting niggly jobs done: Painting inside & out, get builder to fit cowl on chimneys, get chimney swept, painting outside as well. All our jobs are niggly, but DH did get some outstanding ones done. Need to cut down some vegetation at gate as DH scraped the old car as the gate won't now fully open, so now a Priority. Also a couple of little jobs for DH, flushed with his success with the DW he may be amenable. Which is appropriate as one of them is tightening the toilet seat....
Health: Lose approx. a stone & a half. Am trying with this, helps that DD is not here. Feel slimmer - does that count? Weigh in shows no loss - no gain either though! Still on it. Not too bad today although made scones & ate one. Scone may have been eaten again.
Meal Planning: Need to meal plan as tend to go with the flow, and it doesn't always work out. Have plenty of food in but still need to plan. Have a vague plan for tomorrow but need to clear fridges to check on supplies.
Moving more - Most exercise taken as gardening. Todays exercise was digging.
Time with those you love: DH & DD today, plus the animals.

Minimise
Bills - Lovely day yesterday so got 2 loads of washing line dried.
Plastic - Recycling as much as possible and have been trying not to buy things wrapped in plastic where I can.
Waste - Made cheese scones yesterday so use up cheese that had gone a bit mouldy.
Screen time - Doing fairly well with this one.
Maximise
Fruit and veg intake -really struggling.
Health - Not managed any runs due to a bad IBS flare up.
Extra pennies - Got a shift with 2nd job this afternoon.
Time with those you love - Lots of quality time spent with OH.
Aim for 15 NSDs - have completely lost countMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.7.25 - £106,653.66
Mortgage overpayment savings - £33.53/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £612.990 -
Good Morning.
Worked Thursday and Friday but DH and the kids were off. They had lunch out both days, bought some candles for me, some wine (again for me) a couple of books (guess who for) and some snacks. We were going to go away if I hadn't been working so they spent a lot less and had some time together.
Got lots of washing dried outside yesterday and some on the line now. Spent some money yesterday part of which was a lovely pair of waterproof winter cycling gloves for £2.50, plan to stay at home and do some jobs at home today so hopefully won't be spending. Ran yesterday and will cycle today.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Oooof! - I've been rubbish at reporting in this month - although I have been reading to catch up with everyone else every few days. S'been a very busy month at work plus have had a big family wedding which took up a weekend, collected DS1 from uni (next weekend we're clearing out DD's uni flat), have managed to hurt my lower back quite badly (have had OH helping me put underwear on!) and my sister is very poorly in hospital
Minimise:
-bills - kept current BTL insce provider as was cheapest
-clutter - a few items to CS. Not much progress mainly down to work/ weekend away/ bad back
-toxic situations and people -yep
-unloved items - see clutter
-unnecessary spends - my spends for the wedding ended up being a new dress (£19.50 in sale) and shoes (£21 in sale) and matching bag (£17.40) - all of which will get another outing for DD's graduation next month. DD bought her own outfit (I think I may have ended up paying for her shoes (£27) which she will wear to graduation also. Everyone else wore things already owned (I'm not a big dress person so didn't have anything suitable)
-waste – food and other - yes - food waste has been minimal - really has been scrapings from plate and a few end slices of bread.
Maximise:
-dreams (dream big) - have been looking at actually booking next year's big holiday so we'll know actual costs. Planning and doing things to improve our garden
-fruit and veg intake - could do better - although hasn't been *too* bad
-fun + laughter (so important!) - yes
-generosity (donate, give, help others) - box of items to CS. Have another bag of items for shoebox appeal. Couple of toiletries to homeless shelter. Looked after nephew (although that doesn't really count!)
-getting niggly jobs done (then they can stop bugging you) - garden. Been in too much pain to do anything this past week.
-health (don’t pay for health issues later in life – be healthy now!) - back
-moving more (goes with health. Get shifting that booty) - have been moving slowly to keep back mobile - often managing 9K - 12K steps
-time with those you love (you can’t do this once they’re gone. Make the most of them now)- family wedding was fab! Have family bbq planned for next month. Also sister being in hospital for major issue brings this home....
Hopefully I'll be better at checking in for rest of month!
xx

HI all
greent - I share your pain re bad backHope it gets better soon.
Still dry and sunny here so laundry services are doing well; nearly at the end of DD2's laundry bag. Going to do my bedding next.
Got to do some of my self employment #1 work today and need a big shop as supplies are low. Will go between different stores to get good value. Already bought salad from Mr C as their membership scheme is very generous
I have been doing well with my budget although did succumb to WS sale - I haven't bought much in way of clothing this year but walking in the sun yesterday made me realise I have very few casual clothes for hot weather so I bought a t shirt and skirt via £co. It may be a bit risky buying summer clothes when I live in the NW but hey, ever the optimist!!
One of my challenges has been to enjoy some quiet time and I have been sitting still and quiet at times and when I go for walks I try to shut off my busy brain and listen to the sounds of birds etc. Definitely helps.
I need to eat better as have been eating far too much carp - DD1 birthday tomorrow so cake will be in evidence but going to focus for the rest of next week
Take care everyone
