Thank you for the birthday wishes, it was very quiet.
Today is (wait for it........) NSD..... 2!!!!! yes, 2!!
Got up and did the kid thing, came home, cleaned, made a cake and buns, and a veg stew for tea, there was an athletics thing after school for the smalls, so had to rush about picking them up early, leaving them with DS1 for half an hour at the stadium, picking up DS2, sitting in gridlocked traffic, dropping him home, before going and relieving DS1 of childcare duty so he could go home. Luckily we were home just after 5, but as supper is already cooked, and pudding ready, it is all a bit chilled here right now.
Only 9 days til payday and everything is looking good. As most of my spends have been in the region of £2, with the exception of the £140 windscreen wiper fiasco, I am still within budget!! So not worried.
This weather is bizarre.
Tomorrow is the dreaded sportsday!

Hi all:j
Minimise: Big bag of paper rubbish binned.
Bills Looking to get some secondary DG on our old windows to help with heating this place. This will be a long-term project IMHO. To that end:
Clutter: Lots to clear before even survey to do windows could be organised. Keeping going with the clutter, a little every day. I WILL get this house cleared. More clearing done, hoping that the 'puddles' will eventually join into a lake..will do another bit after this post. Trying to do a little each day although very tires tonight. DH out most of day tomorrow so that will help.
Spending: Need to budget for groceries. Starting with £300 including pet food. Have receipt ready to file, but about £35/300. Was going to be an NSD but had to pay for a book, then had a voucher expiring for 25% off ferry crossing so booked trip for November. Used CB as well so came in very cheaply.
Unnecessary spends Not as such although book could be classed as such, as holiday also. Is necessary though, or will be by November..
Waste: No waste today - eating up stuff from cupboards.
Maximise:
Dreams (dream big): Would like to fit the DG as mentioned earlier, also need the driveway doing but would be a very large amount of cash as it's so big....Clearing the clutter will help enormously with this, both financially & in the long term. Outside painting needed now, will be a big job & need scaffolding. This again will be £££. Sold 2 DVDs & was paid for those.
Fruit and veg intake: Definitely need to increase F&V consumption, on this. Fruit eaten & also veg in the form of salad.
Getting niggly jobs done Painting inside & out, get builder to fit cowl on chimneys, get chimney swept, painting outside as well. All our jobs are niggly, but DH did get some outstanding ones done. Still need to see if the DW will work with the new hose he bought x weeks ago...will remind him yet again tomorrow. Perpetual problem, will remind again although he's out all day tomorrow. Maybe he will have a go on Friday.
Health: Lose approx. a stone & a half. Am trying with this, helps that DD is not here. Feel slimmer - does that count? Weigh in shows no loss - no gain either though! Still on it.
Meal Planning: Need to meal plan as tend to go with the flow, and it doesn't always work out. Have plenty of food in but still need to plan. Still need to sort rest of week.
Moving more - Most exercise taken as gardening. Todays exercise was gardening, finally stopped raining..sssh
Time with those you love: DH & DD today.
NSD: still 9/15
Check in every day Here I am, hello folksNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Good morning.
Finally a bit of summer here. Even had to water the veg in the garden for the last two days.
The last two days were NSDs and today will be too. Just double checked my meal plan etc and the shopping list for tomorrow.
Last night tried a new dish, satay chicken, and made our usual "Chinese". That way we had plenty of left over for today's lunch. Also prepped today's dinner. Boiled too many potatoes and will make them into a pie with left over gammon to put into the freezer.
Getting on well with my horticulture course. Even done a wee brainstorm yesterday as to where it could lead in terms of career change, side hustle, school outreach programs etc. DREAM BIG :rotfl:. Still need to set up a separate savings account for the fees for the RHS course next year.
Weekend will be quiet. DH wanted to go to some BBQ a friend is running (commercially) at an estate, many if our friends will be going. £25 quid a head for food and one drink plus it's 15 mi away. Finally managed to put my foot down and said no. We can't afford that. Whereas before I'd given in. He took it well.
Better be off just now

Morning everyone,
My night out for dinner and a movie ended up happening and cost me £35-£40. A great night right enough, so I don't particularly grudge it but £13 to go to the movies!?
Anyway, I've no plans for today or tomorrow, which usually means I can grab some NSD's. Looking forward to a frugal and productive weekend.0 -

DH brought it up again this morning in the car to work, what should we do, should we go to the BBQ. I said no again, don't have the money. He tried to argue the case by saying:
a) but it'll be the sunniest day of the weekend
b) lots of friends will be there
c) I just don't want to go because we can't stay long as I'll get fed up not drinking
d) he'll get paid soon
e) our friends might let us wait with paying for the tickets till we get paid.
To which I replied that sunshine doesn't magic up £70 (tickets plus extra drinks, plus fuel), car tax is coming up, holiday is coming up and he already overspend/borrowed this month. Aarrgggh. He was rather quiet after this. Thought he'd be in a huff with me but we went our ways to work quite happy.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
I seem to be bad at keeping in touch and being supportive of other turtles this month. My main focus is on using the CPAP machine and getting my sleep pattern back in line, so there isn't a lot to report.
Some nights everything goes to plan (stop laptop and reading at designated times and go to sleep quickly) and at other times it doesn't. The mask isn't in the right place, I can't get the pillows arranged properly or sleep won't come - so I wake up not rested, with cricks in my neck and shoulders and grumpy. I'm also having a bit of trouble incorporating my mask/ tube cleaning into my morning routine (mostly okay but have ended up doing it late a couple of times and done silly things like leaving it in the empty bowl downstairs after cleaning).
I am getting it right most of the time but still working on it the rest of the time. Getting in lots of reading but not enough (I don't read books, I climb inside them and settle there). Got a good haul of new to the library books and trying out a few new to me authors.
Yesterday I tackled one side of the garden and had time to put the green stuff in the bin before it had been collected. I did some work on the kitchen, cleaned the fridge inside and out including wiping all the jars and bottles as well as keeping the parts I've already done clutter free, filled the washing machine and I've started to bring clean clothes back upstairs (it was a bit hit and miss weatherwise at weekend and some things had to be moved inside to finish drying).
I have also chopped off quite a lot of my hair. The straps on the CPAP machine are messing it up and it's too long. Can't make an appointment with mum's hairdresser as it's exercise this week (class finishes at 11am, hairdresser arrives at mum's between 11 am and noon and I'd still be waiting for the little bus by the time she had finished mum's hair). Next week is film club (mum will be coming to town centre), exercise again the following Friday and then we are away after that.
I had already cut my fringe when it was the funeral as it was getting in my eyes but now it's all too long and shaggy so I've cut it back around my ears, trimmed over an inch off the bottom and tried to thin out the top. It's a lot lighter and more comfortable, not the best or worst haircut I've ever done but it's not really 'styled'. But a 'niggly' job out of the way (and will hope the hairdresser forgives me).
Today I am grateful for a reasonable sleep (thought I'd slept all night but it was only 3 hours) and feeling ready to face the day, for good weather (more drying and might do a bit more garden tidy) and having the luxury of easing into the day (letting the creaky bits have more rest).
Hugs, belated birthday wishes, commiserations and congratulations to all turtles. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Lost connection as I posted. Sorry for not being around much and not very supportive. I am working on using my CPAP machine and improving my sleep pattern. Some nights it all goes to plan. At other times I can't get the mask just right (I had to slacken some straps as I had developed small bruises in the hollows of my cheeks), can't get the pillows in a good position or sleep won't come. Minor problems incorporating my mask cleaning into my morning routine.
Going right most of the time (or 80 - 90 % right) but still a work in progress. When it goes wrong I am tired, in pain and grumpy and get very little done.
Yesterday I did part of the garden tidy up, worked on the kitchen including cleaning the fridge, processed more laundry (weekend stuff had to be moved inside to finish drying) and chopped off quite a lot of my hair (it needed cutting 4 weeks ago and looking ahead I can't see any chances in the next 4 weeks) - it's too long and the straps of the CPAP machine are messing it up. Now much lighter and more manageable but not what you'd call stylish.
Hugs, congratulations and commiserations to all turtles. Today I'm grateful for good (but hopefully not oppressive) weather - can get more stuff washed and dried, for the luxury of being able to ease into the day - helps the 'creaky' bits settle and for good reading material. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
I lost NSD 3 because of a 44p spend on postage,grrrr!
Sportsday today until 11, so I now have a sunburnt V on my chest (ouch!)
Volunteered 12 til 2, then school run 3.00 until 4.30, no lunch, home at 4.30 after narrowly missed being hit by a van - totally my fault, my brain did not process what I was seeing, I thought it was parked at the side of the road, so either it was and he pulled away without indicating, or my brain did not recognise it was moving. I am going with my brain not recognising movement. Must concentrate more on the 3rd pickup from school. It is a lethal corner, will be much more careful from now on.
