Simplicity - met up with both DDs plus 3 grandchildren today. Took them for lunch, which was a bit spendy, but I don't see them all together very often as they live in different counties. All paid from money I had, no credit cards or overdrafts involved!

Persevere - Diet not great today :o

Reduce - OH is away so I froze the rest of an almost new loaf so that it doesn't go off before it gets eaten, as I don't eat a lot of bread.

Invest - Turned out the larder, topped up storage jars, getting rid of partly empty packets. Swept floor, everything put back neat and tidy now :)

New - I must think about this, as I am the worst for beating myself up about things that happened in the past :o

Grab - Nothing that I can think of here today!

    How big are the tribbles?

Quiet day. Felt very alert but had trouble staying awake. Had a shower and got ready. Took 3 books back to the library, posted a letter for mum, did a small shop for mum (some items for me but paid with mum's card and used barter - she mentioned a few things yesterday so I took chicken breasts and veg from my freezer to take to hers.

Taxi from little arseda to mum's. Bins out at mum's and here. Sorted through mum's mail pile which was building up, 2/3 binned, 2 items into filing - not terribly important but she will fret if I try to throw them, 2 back in the rack (upcoming appointment for next month and travel vouchers), the rest, including mum's tax return (+ some of the info i need to complete it), back here.

Talked about mum's partner. He's been ill and they don't know if he will live. Mum had been taken to see him today and may go again on Friday. He has dementia, the people in the home are looking after him very well, but I don't think he has any fight left in him and is not eating or drinking much. Until this illness he has been fairly lively whilst in the home and was still walking around up till a couple of weeks ago but now just wants to stay in bed.

I offered to go to mum's tomorrow or on Thursday morning but she says I don't need to. Will get on with the paperwork and see what else I have to do - may go to the SM near her and call in for a while just to check how she is. My days are changed this week because of the school holidays. I booked my overnight accommodation for Thursday, probably won't rush back for exercise class. Mum wants me to go to the Trafford centre for another biscuit cutter she wants (I made the mistake of telling her I would be fairly near when I was trying to explain why staying at DS1's house was a bad idea).

Today I am grateful for being able to rest my leg and arm, for finding things to wear, for making progress.

    Hi all

    Glad of the outcome foxHoles...

Simplicity - think about the simple pleasures in your life which you really appreciate, friendship, family, cake. Focus on those this month as much as you can (maybe not too much cake though). Nice shift in the CS with friends, lots of laughs today.

Persevere - I know that trying to reach your goal can sometimes seem never ending but try to remember that each time you waste money/time it can take you further away from what you really want for the long term. Short time outside as a bit tired from working earlier on. Fresh air was nice though.

Reduce - I wouldn't be me if I wasn't asking you to reduce. Think about what you really need and what will be left at the end, is there a better way to consume. Reduced waste by being creative with leftovers in the fridge for supper.

Invest - in yourself, your family, your home - the things that really matter to you. Not much investment in myself today but did take some time to send emails, read a few bits of mags I brought back from CS.

New - new month, new beginning. Don't look back at past mistakes and failures, there is nothing that can be done about them, learn from them and move on. Rarely look back - & when/if I do it's as if that stuff happened to someone else, which of course I was then.

Grab - take life by the horns. Do something which takes you outside of your comfort zone at least once this month. Will do.

    NSDs: still 4/15

    NO spending
in coffee shops, work canteens, vending machines. If you do it needs to be planned in advance and budgeted for. Never go in coffee shops, no canteen, don't use vending machines either. But I still waste money! No eating out or spends other than groceries & a bit in the CS.

Except for the ones they beamed onto the Klingon ship!

Wednesday already - onthe shopping list for today is.... pain meds, that is all, and not for me either. So I might make it to NSD3 today. Not promising though as I am actually quite rubbish at the minute. :rotfl: I think all after school clubs are now over for the term, but will check this morning. Constrained by study sessions for DS1 over Easter, or I would be out of here so fast ......

  • Yesterday was #5 for me.

Today though, I will have to accept a low spend day as I need to buy a couple of ingredients from the SM which I've realised are past their best. How annoying!

Mothernerd - you seem very busy and productive, remember and take some time for yourself too.
  • Hi, please may I join in? I was here for a few threads last year but decommissioned my email and then lost my password and couldn't reset :( so I'm a newbie again!

Gone back through the calendar and online banking, I have 4 NSDs so far.
    Today should be #5.

    Hi lovelies,

Today is NSD #6/15. Hoping for 8 by the end of the week. I have £80 left in the budget but I have a big order to collect from Tesco tomorrow which I have already accounted for so I'm not worried.
Took the two rugrats for free Ice cream last night (Free Cone Day) , made a donation to charity but still less than we would have spent going for Ice Creams and it was a nice treat for the LOs.
Hub is not really coping with how much he is being sent away at the moment and so we have decided to buy a smaller house but sooner, as there are more important things in life!! I don't want a fancy home but my hub having a heart attack...
Not much else to report, I might be quiet the next couple of days as I am at a wedding & then it's my LOs 4th Birthday party!
  • Morning
Had a day off the computer altogether yesterday, so just getting round to checking in now. I got an unexpected nsd - even though we went out for lunch it was paid for by bestie who had owed me money from a few weeks ago. It was a bargain afternoon tea for me and bestie, with kids eat free for ds and his bestie. I still have lots of boxed up leftovers for today as there was so much food!
Also paid in my 20p and loose change fund to the bank - there was £112.68 in there :j
Was planning a day in the house today doing a little bit of exam work but looks like a change of plans. Bestie's car has gone into the garage for an emergency recall so I followed her over there in my car to bring her home. Then my sister has been in touch and asked me to go to hers for a couple of hours as she's expecting a visit from her ex so looking for a bit of moral support. Hopefully still a low or no spend day but we'll see what happens.

Welcome hummingbird15. Happy Birthday to your little one lauren.

Have cycled this morning and am now defrosting with a coffee and a toasted cinnamon bagel the thought of which was the only thing that kept me going.

My revamped cv has landed me an interview for tomorrow, only for a temporary role and in area I would really rather not go but we shall see.
