:bdaycake: Happy birthday, greent!
Today I am grateful for so many pupils and staff dressing up in costumes for world book day, for fresh air, for getting the bags of compost from liddle -and nothing else garden-related, for dropping off 2 bags to the Sally Army, for a good strong brolly, for a great chat with a neighbour, for lovely clear drinking water, for the robin in the back garden.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hi all:j
I know it's past midnight but this is still Thursday as far as I'm concerned...DH had to get internet connected again amidst much cursing. The fact that he is on it constantly (and therefore used up all the credit he paid for - on Sunday:eek:) seems to have escaped him.
Not an NSD today - sorry ccl - we went to eat out & a little shopping, mainly for DD & seemingly some of her friends as well. Oh well I did spend 7 euros on myself - and found some bargainous butter in MnS so stocked up with that. They don't seem to be as bothered about YS items here, not sure why.
Had a nice morning at the local knitting group held in the library. It's free, they make pots of tea or coffee & press you to have lots of biscuits (2 in my case). Glad I made the effort to go now..
Tomorrow should be a quieter day, I bought food to cook & also for sandwiches so no need to eat out.
Hope you are all well, especially those suffering from continuing ailments.
ccl - have you tried valerian tea? I found it helped me to sleep...might be worth a try although it's not a lovely taste.

Happy birthday for the other day greent
Yesterday was NSD 4/15 for me. Came straight home after work and went for a short run, ate a curry that I had batch cooked on Tues. This eve won't be an NSD as I have a language exchange, will have a couple of small beers.
My little sister is coming from the UK tomorrow with her boyfriend from uni who I haven't met yet and they've been together for over 2 years. I'm so excited to see her. The plan is to lounge in the park tomorrow and eat somewhere cheap, so it shouldn't be toooo spendy. I'm staying away from the charity shop as I went a bit crazy in there last weekend!
Have a great weekend turtles!Student loan £5655

It's Fri-YAY!!!
Today will signal NSD #5.
Told my colleague yesterday that I would have to decline his invitation for dinner and drinks after work. I have a legit excuse to be fair as I need to go home to let the gas man leave.
Saturday will, as always, be my designated spend day. I should manage to avoid spend on Sunday, providing I do my job right on the Saturday that is!0 -

Probably easier in the long run to just come clean about why you don't want to go rather than thinking up an excuse, less stressful too.
Today should be a NSD, yesterday wasn't in the end. I ordered my skincare that I use, quite a large spend but lasts 4 months, then I called into a shop in town which is sadly closing and they have 30% off everything, I was in there Saturday and resisted temptation but it got the better of me and I went back and got DH some very lovely and unique cologne and a gorgeous candle for me.
Have a bad headache at the moment so I think I will have a pint of water and another coffee then must crack on.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Yesterday was NSD5
I managed to spend £3.50 in my trek around 10 charity shops today. Feeling very restless. Then the Buildings & Contents Insurance renewal dropped through the letterbox ((sigh)). Roll on weekend.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Afternoon Turtles
NSD 4/15
Waste management
Food
All meals from stores and leftover mash from last night. The freezer is beginning to reach a point where what's left is cake (don't know why we have all this - we don't really eat cake!), bread and lots and lots of cheese plus some fish and leftovers that we meant to use up but didn't. The chicken mountain has reduced to a hill thanks to making various kinds of soup. Will keep on plodding away at it.
Recycling
Found another pair of old glasses today which I'll take to the optician with the others.
Utilities
Resisting the temptation to put on the washing machine, I've resolved to do this once a week now with full loads at a low temperature and a quick wash. Nothing here is ever really dirty enough to warrant more. Plus I'm restricting ironing to once a week as well and ironing just what really needs done.
Money
Nothing spent today. I discovered I had PPI on a credit card that I had ages ago (didn't know I had it) so I'm going to fill in the paperwork and see what happens
Invest in yourself
Just reading and plodding but quite happy doing that.
Needs not wants
I really want to buy a rug for the living room to cover up a stain in the carpet that I just can't get rid of. Trying really hard to resist the temptation
Simplicity
Went through a chest today that is full of unused toiletries. Lots and lots to use up but as least I know what's there now and I won't be buying things we don't need. Next item is the blanket box.
Have a good weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Made it to the end of another working week! Yes! However, I have a large stack of test papers looking at me and reports needing to be written on top of everything else... So definitely no getting away from work this weekend. I'm going to make a start now and see how far I get - the sooner I start the sooner I finish.
Bagged another nsd, and a lot more stress at work, but I'll just keep doing what I can and seeing where I get with it.
There isn't much else to report. I'm just about managing to live within my means and pay a bit of debt off - no progress on the legal front, and I still owe money but I feel more in control than I have done for a while.
Thanks for the suggestion sasha - my cats play with valerian toys and I can't even bear the smell of it - but if I get desperate enough I might use one as a teabag :rotfl:Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
