NST March 2019: WINS against the debt

f0xh0les I have space puddle envy. Hoping the antibiotics do their job, when I get them. Met mum at the dentist, handed over her pills, explained where she was going wrong (reducing pills too fast thus using too many of the 1mg ones when she had lots of 5mg ones). She still thinks she reduced them each month before (when coming down from a much higher dosage) so may have to get mother of twins to back me up - reluctant to drag her in as she has the baby twins plus her sister's little boy and one of her older daughters has just fractured her arm. Told mum that in any case, due to the bug, she should not be putting her body under further strain until fully recovered.
She had decided against going to Icyland (after I rushed round like a fool in my half hour at home gathering bags for life so we didn't pay for carrier bags) but as we had a half hour wait for her taxi, I went for bread milk and 2 lamb shanks (Saturday guest meal) and we took turns sitting in the walker (I leant against the wall when I needed to).
Home by 5pm and have slept for a couple of hours. No plans to do anything much but unwind this evening. I have only been in hospital for 2 operations and two births (a week with the first and a couple of days with the second, DS3 was a planned home birth and was born less than 10' from where I am now).
I have probably spent more hospital time sitting by DS2's bed and sleeping on a camp bed on the floor (if you've ever seen a WW1 film where the officers have little beds that are basically a piece of canvas stretched over a metal frame - they all ended up at our local hospital) than in hospital myself. I had pneumonia when I was eighteen months old but by the time my childminder called the doctor, I was too ill to be moved.
If they are the same 5 day wonder antibiotics as mum had, they should work. I have told Beloved - she has done the bath seal. Yet to tell DS3, he just grunted when I came in - not sure he knew I wasn't in the house. May be time to raise the issue of a paid cleaner and maybe have a couple of hours specialist (sub hoarder) cleaning to kickstart things. Will ponder.
I feel as though I am trying to crawl out of a steep muddy ditch and each time I get sick I slip back and then have to start again and each time I'm muddier and it's more slippy and I'm so tired.
Positive head back on. Today I am grateful for the blossom on the trees at the infirmary (noticed it last week), our wonderful NHS and all the lovely staff I encountered today and all the fellow patients who asked if I was okay when the lurching dizziness overcame me and everyone who held doors for me and the walker, for being back on friendly terms with mum and for food and sleep and a respite from coughing. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all
Apple thank you for the inspirational quotes.
Mothernerd you need to get plenty of rest and take care of you.
Waste management
- Food waste - I continue to use up what I have and freeze bits that I won't use before best before date.
- Plastics – Trying to recycle or reuse.
- Utilities – All electrical equipment switched off when not in use. Boiling the kettle on the stove.
- Money – Need to update my budget.
Invest in yourself
- Do something every single day that makes you happy.
Spending time with my DP.
- Do something else every single day that takes you a little bit nearer to your long-term goals (and now is a good time to set some, if you don’t have any…)
10000 steps. Need to focus on a healthier diet.
- Learn a new skill or re-start an old one.
Still thinking.
- Can you grow any food this year?
I will try and start with some herbs.
Needs not wants
- We all know Martin’s mantra. Be consistent in applying it. Learn to distinguish between what you truly need and what you want to have now and simply cannot ever live without…
I will make a huge effort to focus on this mantra.
- Appreciate what you have and enjoy it.
am grateful for finishing work early, my DD helping with the cleaning, an easy dinner and a warm stove.
Simplicity
-Put routines in place that keep your life running smoothly and make things automatic.
I need to develop a cleaning routine, a pamper/beauty routine and exercise routine.
- Simplify your stuff. Just get rid of the unnecessary stuff. Donate it to a charity shop. Freecycle it. Give it to friends and neighbours.
Sorted some books for my niece.
- Make space for yourself.
I will look at the space I have and make the best use of same.
- Cut out the extra noise in your life. This might be computer games, the Interweb, tv, radio, certain people. Allow yourself peace and quiet to simply be.
Spent some time reading.
- Be frugal in your needs.
I haven't purchased any cleaning products, toiletries or clothes.
3/15 NSDs.
5/12 Lunch to work.
No vending machines purchases.
Good night. Xx0 -

Hi all :j
Just a quick check in mainly to report an actual NSD - whilst we're on holiday, amazing. So it's 2/15 now :rotfl:
Got here eventually although got caught in a massive snowstorm on the motorway, which obviously took everyone by surprise. Eventually made it after about 6 hours, twice the normal time it takes.
Of course, no snow here at all, other than on the tops of the mountains.
Lovely neighbour came over this morning, just to offer any tools or equipment that we might need, also any assistance should we require it. It always scares DH to death as we're not used to friendly neighbours. Once this fellow (the fierce man as he's known) took DH across to his home - to show him the garage full of tools that he could 'just help himself to, whenever he liked'. Little did he know that DH wouldn't know what to do with any of them, he would be better off showing them to me...
Have had a quiet day here, doing a few bits & a bit of FH online, which is something I don't normally get time to do. And it is VERY quiet, which suits me just fine atm.
mothernerd I hope you get some rest & the medicaments you need. Look after yourself, please.
Will try & check in more regularly, but am cheering you on from the sidelines anyhow.

Work was busy but got lots done and went for a long overdue walk and catch up with bestie before working at home last night. Not much else to report.

Should be 4 NSDs today, aimimg for 5 this week.
Trundling along, the difficult bit is doing stuff for myself! In between work and child wrangling and DIY (another cost of paint on the everlasting door project last night) and the cat (more meds ordered and booked him in for his vaccinations), there isn't much time. I do get to knit on my commute, so it could be worse.
Mothernerd: you need to put your health first, at least for now. Cleaner sounds a good idea, not least because it would an external validation to DS that things do need to be cleaned.0 -

Hello everyone
Yesterday was NSD 3/15. Feeling very motivated and hope to do better than last month!
Yesterday realised I was grateful for listening to the much needed rain while having lunch all cosy indoors and chatting with my students. Also grateful for my housemate being off work so I can practice my spanish with her, and for getting some messages from people on the workaway website about projects and language exchange.
have a great day turtlesStudent loan £5655

Yesterday was my bday - but I have a 3rd lurgy in 5/6 weeks (possibly all the same one with short respites in between) - had a really bad night's sleep with sore throat and stuffed up nose. Did school run and then had a nap on sofa - disturbed by phone call for bday wishes. Rallied a little and went out for lunch with DD - cost me £2.70 for the 2 of us as I used a voucher. Came back to find my mum waiting. Once she'd left OH came home unexpectedly early (was concerned about me doing DS2's pick up - round trip on motorway in dark and rain for between 70 - 90 mins) - yeay! - was very thankful that he did it - and I fell asleep for a solid hour and half instead!!
Fed smalls and then had bestie visit - she and hubby left almost 10.30 and I fell straight into bed for another bad night's sleep! OH has gone back to work and won't be home this evening, so I'm on school runs and swimming lesson... will have an early night (thinking around 9.30
) as I'm at work tomorrow - reading and scribing for someone in an exam..... Will be armed with Strep5ils, tissues and water!
No spends planned today - I do have to go to my nan's house to organise some clearing of things. Other than that and school runs/ swimming, I plan on spending much of the time nappingKitchen really needs vacuuming, but may see if I can get DD to do it for me later on
Grateful for : OH coming home early. Presents which are useful or consumable and not just random. Blue skies today - nice change after the rain!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Happy belated birthday greent!!
NSD #4 today.
There's talks/suggestions of grabbing some food and a few drinks tomorrow after. An expense I could do without given the busy month I have. I think I'll have to politely decline, plus I might have to be in the house for the boiler man.0
