NST March 2019: WINS against the debt

Happy birthday dolly. So sorry you can't get out for your run. Can you set up some sort of mini circuit in the house, maybe get the children to help. A very long while ago I used to run up and down the stairs in the advert breaks between programmes. More recently when I couldn't go out to do my walk, I made up some of my steps by circling the kitchen to put each individual plate away (ie if I was standing next to the cupboard where it went, I went all round the kitchen to put it away). Then I went to get a box (an old toy box type) and made a step up and down in the middle of my circle.
To all those who are ill, read apple's quote. Cut yourself some slack. It is good that you are so aware of food waste that you mourn half a pack of bacon or a pineapple ring or two, but these are casualties of being ill - you can't eat stuff you would normally do, your brain has been replaced with cotton wool and you can't manage two consecutive rational thoughts.
There is a time for pushing on and a time to recognise that your body is under attack and stressed out and you need to give it time to rest and recover. This virus is relentless and if you are managing to function at all you are doing well.
Congratulate yourselves on what you are doing and take time to think about what you can do (if you feel the need). I used to find the 'coming out of flu' stage useful for boring sewing - the endless patching, shortening of too short joggers into shorts etc that 3 boys produce. Normally I would find it mindless and frustrating but when you are stuck on the sofa, it's soothing and gives you a sense of achievement.
Take any short cuts you can (sloshing stuff down the toilet keeps the germs/ stains - boys again - under control until you can tackle it properly), stop as soon as you feel dizzy or tired, work out any jobs that can be done sitting down or on the bed or sofa, use the time to plan - what could you have done when you were well to make things easier (if you can't think of anything, normal you has things under control).
Formulate an emergency plan. I hope none of you you get to where I am now but there are times when you need your house to function on auto pilot - recovering from necessary surgery or a 'classic sprained ankle' or an unwise wisdom tooth that tries to come through where there is no room causing an abscess and massive infection or other debilitating illness.
I don't want you all to become ultra pessimistic - there is always a way through or at least things to help. The wisdom tooth was one of the worst things to ever happen to me (had to have day surgery to extract all the wisdom teeth from my jaw later). I was in so much pain i had to write down when I had painkillers so I didn't overdose. It was taking me 10 minutes to get off the couch and cross the room to open the front door (friend had phoned to see what I needed and brought bread). My ex went to the SM and we compiled a list of things to feed the boys based on things they could bring to me to open - yoghurts, tinned fruit, cereal, sandwich makings. No-one starved, I could help with washing and dressing if they came to me (no idea what I did about laundry or the bins) but we survived.
The pills are helping. I am feeling brighter and the sleep is amazing. Still waking every so often by the cough but I am sleeping so deeply - must have been barely dipping under the surface for weeks. I am not one of life's pill takers. Mum once nearly choked me by covering my mouth and nose in an attempt to get me to swallow an aspirin (which I promptly spat out when she let go) but they do have a place. After 5 weeks I was definitely at the end of my resources (already dragging around because of the sprained ankle and other long term conditions).
Tired now, need to sleep again. Today i am grateful for tolerance and patience, for feeling better than yesterday, for good books and turtles. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Neither of my children remembered, in fact no one was interested at all so I took myself out at lunchtime and walked into town the rural way so about 8 miles round trip.
Bought some chips and ate them by the canal then got a bottle of wine for later.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

greent - Hope you get better soon.
Walked to and from park. Walked the park run.
Was a spend day. Gave friend money towards the take away. Mine was about £5 and that was in budget for month. She said that her family were going to pay but felt it was not fair. Went round her place and had a nice time there with her, her mum and her brother.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -

Happy birthday for yesterday dolly
Yesterday was spendy but then my dad gave me the money back! Very appreciative of that! Bought lunch, a couple of tough dog toys and petrol so nothing extravagant. Also saved some of dad’s money for a nice PAD payment this morning
Today will be school work, cleaning and swimming and hopefully a dog walk if it ever stops raining!LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
