Snow in Le'Shire, when I opened the curtains just before 7, I had lay in my bed listening to the rain for a long time, just being happy I was not out in the rain, and that we have a roof, and I was warm and dry and safe, so I got up and quietly went downstairs - to big fat lumps of snow falling for my pleasure. It is not settling, too wet.
So today will be NSD6 as I am not going out. Windy, wet and too much fun watching snow. I need nothing.
Only one load of washing to be done today.
Drier broke yesterday, flashing error codes, so googled error code, found a 'how to reset your heating thermostat' idiot guide. 10 seconds later, working drier! yay!
I am going to start on the sewing projects next week. It will keep me away from temptation (shops) and I might even get something at the end of it. Plus fabric takes up a lot of space and it needs to be working for me not against me. I have not touched my fabric stash for years. It needs to earn its keep.
Snow has turned to rain, hoping it comes back. I do love a bit of snow watching.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Morning Turtles
Belated happy birthday dolly
Had a lovely day yesterday, catching up with bestie and pottering about and doing nothing at all work related. It was a small spendy day (a coffee with bestie and a few things from bee and emm that helped me tackle a couple of frogs). It was much needed and very good for my mental health.
Today is a little different in that I have 3 hours of tutoring to do, catching up on all the missed sessions from recent weeks. Also need to do a small amount of school work (why that seems so never ending is beyond me) and a few house jobs. There's still 2 loads of washing to do, and I need to find something to do with the mountain of leftover pulled pork from yesterday...
Hopefully though should manage another nsd. I'll try and check in properly later. Not giving up

Time to take back control

Hi all
Sorry I have been awol again this week but I have not been feeling well again. So busy at work and also had a pain in my back. Today I have worken up with a sore throat. It seems to be one thing after another at the moment. Anyway onwards and upwards
Waste management:
- Food waste – used up some soups from the freezer this week so that gave me something different to have for lunch and also made some space in the freezer.
- Plastics – got some loose carrots yesterday and the supermarket was using paper bags
- Utilities – managed to get one load out this week
- Money – freezers and cupboards well stocked still but making sure I use things up in the cupboard and then replace to maintain the stock but rotate it so its not a case of using new stuff first
Invest in yourself
- Happy – not managed to do anything about the healthy eating or exercise as felt so crappy all week. Hopefully a better week next week
- Steps forward – as above
- Skill – not done any cross stitch as I have felt so tired
Needs not wants
- doing well on this
- Gratitudes – am grateful for DH cooking dinner on Friday as I was so tired, for good friends at work, for DS1 doing so well at school, for having the skills to help DS2 with his school work
Simplicity
- Routines – not started yet but will do this this week
- Simplify your stuff – started clearing out a load of old SW magazines I have – just keeping the odd recipe that I liked
- Make space for yourself – still to do
- Noise – will try.
- Be frugal in your needs – still trying
Non-negotiables:

15 NSDs. 4/15
Budget – Grocery - £0/£250 – need to tot this up
NO spending in coffee shops, work canteens, vending machines – 6/31
So some good progress in some areas but a lot of work still needed in others. Hopefully with a good health week I will get some more stuff done:o

Hope everyone is well. I have been panicking a bit about money lately but yesterday I rang the inland revenue and it turns out I am owed a lot of overpaid tax which is just the biggest relief. Plan is to put most of it towards a house deposit and bump up my emergency fund.
I have been absolutely awful with spending this past week, though some things were justified, like travel for a trip in April, and our kettle broke so needs must!0 -
Our kettle broke too ponypal. The full circumstances are unclear but it involved dh, the kettle, 2 mugs... andd ended up with glass everywhere (it was a fancy pants blue-lighty-up glass one) and dh had a slight scald on his arm. I was 150 miles away at the time, so he has kept the details rather sketchy...
Today I am grateful for some sunshine in between the showers, for a relaxed time with dd this morning before going to church, for some old friends feeding us a scrummy gf lunch, for watching the rugby, for taking myself out for a walk, for seeing a gorgeous blackbird, for having a spare (why???) kettle.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
LSD today - baguette for lunch and a garlic bread baguette.
DD was sorting through some things in her room before heading back to uni tonight - result = some items in CS box, some items binned, some recycled :T
My lurgy is still lingering - had a lie in until almost 10, did some ironing and then had a nap on the sofa for another couple of hours!! Made myself sort food for people and a food parcel for DD to take back and have just ensured lunchboxes are prepped for smalls for tomorrow. Shall get them into bed and then have a shower and ensure everyone's clothes are ready for the morning
I did make a step towards where I want to be, though - made a transfer to hol fund to cover the voucher used in Sainz yesterdayI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
A spendy day as Beloved needed more honey for her lurgy (vix not working for her either). Had to make myself get dressed and go to the shop (couldn't do it yesterday), DS2 passed me on the way there and offered to go for me - told him the two most important things to buy but carried on as I needed to get cash for both mum and myself.
Went in the shop about 5 minutes before closing and picked up some ys bread rolls and a couple of other things. Was in the queue before DS2 so he handed over my items (luckily they were the things that were in the far aisles so I did not do much walking). Put everything in the bag on the walker, waved to DS2 (still in the other queue) and toddled home.
It tried to hailstone on me - well it did but they were melting as they fell so no direct hits but had to sit down and wait for my breath to come back. So feeling much better but may give going to mum's a miss tomorrow (she's already said to do so if I'm not well enough - think she may be bothered that I will pass the bug back).
Her Saturday visitor phoned yesterday to say she needs a new microwave (broke the plate but it is very old and starting to show 'rust' marks). If I think I can get to the retail park I could pick up the new phone handsets and a new (simple) microwave from adjoining shops (would not let me order the phones to be delivered to mum as I was using my e-mail and it wanted me to check in to my account) and then taxi them across.
May be better not to go as I have an early podiatrist appointment tomorrow, 'exercise class' on Friday and then the dreaded charity evening on Friday night (may sleep at mum's), away with mum Monday to Friday next week (planning to just relax at the hotel if days out are too much for us invalids) and I think mum has more appointments the week we come back. Might be wiser to keep toddling at home after my morning appointment and ease into the week. Plus I can get all the paperwork filed and straight in my head before mum starts adding her two pennorth - her favourite trick is not to realise I am using the phone (only have one good ear, the other picks up 'noise') and then start talking to me.
Today I am grateful for a good stock of tinned food, for bread, water and milk spares for the freezer and some sunny parts to the day (bit wild at times). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
