Quick Mobile Fix -- are they scammers?

  • So far as original post is concerned, probably not scammers. But certainly a company with very dubious working practices, that have resulted in several visits from the local Ilford Standards Trading Office, including the latest in January.  Following this visit, Trading Standards apparently stated that the delays experienced by Quick Fix Mobile's customers in getting refunds they are due 'may be illegal'. I too have become a victim of this company. I ordered a refurb phone with the published delivery slot as 7-10 working days. The payment was immediately taken from my account. Despite several reminders to them all replied to with standard text and unhelpful email, I eventually cancelled my order and went elsewhere. I still haven't received my refund. I suspect company uses this ploy to help their cash flow, so in effect customers are lending money to them at 0% interest. Currently they are using Covid-19 as their excuse. Somewhat disingenuous since refund policy and customer experiences pre-dated the pandemic by a long time. The company is owned by a Mr. Chinedu Emechebe and this wife Leela. Google them and Quick Fix Mobile and look at the company accounts on the Companies House website. It will tell you all you need to know about the company and its owners. My advice - avoid dealing with this company at all cost.

Hi guys - unfortunately I am experiencing some very similar problems with 'a' company.  My experiences seem very, very similar to what you all have described and warned of.
I regret I did not examine or find such a thread as this before completing my order.

6 weeks+ late in delivering on my order of around £350 worth.  Initial responses to my queries claimed that the current crisis has limited their ability to deliver.  I am an understanding person and wanted to show some good faith - I appreciate how difficult it has been for business owners - I thought I was doing my wee bit (we're all in this together) in showing patience.  There are more important things in life as we all are too aware of at this very difficult time.

I was purchasing this phone on behalf of an elderly family member who needed to update their phone to keep in touch better with family and avail of video call apps and the likes.  It's been a very difficult and disappointing experience - to be fair I had bought from the company before and my previous item (while a much lower value spend) was delivered (it appears now I may have just been very fortunate with that experience - however not long outside of the returns / warranty period the phone did give a few problems - I had decided to overlook or query this).

After many emails over the last few weeks where no one would commit to providing even an approximate or realistic expectation of a delivery date - I decided to cancel and informed them through email of this decision.  I was then informed the very next day that indeed the phone had now been dispatched with their partnering couriers.  Of course no email from any couriers since confirm this to actually be the case.

I have clarified my desire to cancel regardless and have now purchased another phone for the task from what I now feel to be a more reputable company who will no doubt reasonably have the phone dispatched and delivered at some point in the next 7 -10 days.  My family member needs the phone and I did not want to keep them waiting any longer.

I anticipate this now may go on for some months in my efforts to claim a refund - I do hope I am proved incorrect.

Would some of you knowledgable people be so kind as to provide me with some guidance about the least hassle process to follow that I could follow to try and receive a refund / my money back as soon as possible?  This is not a situation I have ever been faced with before - I am a very trusting consumer and have very seldom had cause for much complaint. I have no idea how to even go about claiming back from a credit card - mine is a debit card - nor am I sure if that is where I should start in the process.

Many thanks - hope I can get this resolved and then thank you good people for your help and also be able myself to help others avoid even getting into such a situation.

The best thing to do is to contact your bank and request a “chargeback”.  Also see this Facebook page for help and support with QMF issues.

  • Regretfully I too have become a victim of this disgraceful company owned by a Nigerian, Mr. Emechebe and his wife which ’works’ out of a hidden unit on an industrial estate in Roebuck Road, Hainault, Essex. I ordered a phone based on their promise of 7-10 days delivery, after 14 days I cancelled order and went to Mobile Jungle who delivered excellent phone within 24 hours. Was told refund would be made within 14 days (the statutory maximum) but with caveats about Covid-19 problems causing staffing problems. Did not receive repayment in that period, now given a date which I have no confidence they will meet which is 12 weeks after they took money with order. Reviews on this and other sites make clear that this issue of delayed refunds goes back long before Covid-19. They respond to emails, generally with standard and meaningless drivel, and the amount of time they must invest in doing so far exceeds the time that would be required to issue a credit card refund. Trading Standards visited before Covid-19 and described their delays as probably breaking the law but as yet unclear what further action they are taking. I strongly suspect that the company is facing severe cash flow problems and delaying refunds is probably only one of several ‘methods’ they are employing to try and kerp their creditors off their backs. If they continue like this they are unlikely to survive for much longer so my strong advice to any and all is do NOT under any circumstances buy from them. You are highly likely to regret it afterwards when you are hundreds of pounds poorer and have nothing to show for it.
  • Hello! I am victim of these scammers as well.
I am waiting for my refund since april but they keep delaying. Have you received you money in the end? I am thinking to involve small claims court, any suggestion?

What attracted you to use them ?
  • Please do not useQuick Mobile Fix.  I did loads of research but somehow missed the now very obvious reasons not to give them your money.  Same as everybody else, ordered phones, they took my money at that point, never got the phones and now i can’t get a refund.  I had the foresight to use a credit card and have gone straight to the bank to follow the dispute process.  I think Martin Lewis could run a feature on section 75 on his 5 live moneybox slot to help protect people.
  • I have informed Quick Mobile Fix that I willI publicly log their progress about my refund.  They have now stated that they will process my refund in 14 days.  I will let you know if
    that happens.....
  • DO NOT USE
i wished I had read this thread first - ordered phone on 24 April still haven’t received my refund (22 July). Terrible service - they respond with carbon copies of emails - just a total scam and stupidly paid by debit card ! AVOID AVOID AVOID!
