Yes - they don't put that on the letters any more. It's still that department.

A 657 block is "Account Quality Checking Unit - Account Transactions Prohibited". Normally APAF just put a 646 block on which is "Account Transactions Prohibited" so the AQCU are obviously involved to check the source of funds. This may actually be separate to the account review team decision to close. They're probably linked though. The notes would reveal when the indicator was put on and whether this is the same date the letter was sent.

Am I right in saying ACQU is pretty much checking identification is correct? They must think it wasn’t me who who asked to deposit the funds into my account and think it was someone else? The lady checked ACQU and they would not lift the black but the other department would lift it for 20mins to take out all funds except the money I sold the watch for. But then ACQU said that department cannot do that and will not allow me any money at all.

    AQCU deal with ID yes.

Show a branch staff member the letter, say they've made a credit decision to close the account and they need to overide the block to withdraw the funds and close the account. From experience it depends on the staff member you get as to whether they actually call them or just follow the instructions on the letter. They might look at the notes on your profile and they may say something but they might not if you sound like you know what you're talking about.

Okay I will try that, but I’m pretty sure they tried to lift the block off the account but it didn’t work as they have blocked my current aaccount and two savings acccount and all three have money in them. But I guess it’s worth a try again especially now I have the letter and didn’t have that when I went in on Monday. Is it worth getting the financial ombudsman services involved?

Show them the letter, tell them to over-ride the blocks and close the accounts giving you the funds as per the letter.

Recieved another letter today dated the 27th exactly the same letter only difference is said if I have a credit balance I need to prove where the money has come from ie payslips ect, but obviously it was from selling a watch and I have sent them the evidence of the guy sending the money to my bank with my bank details on and his card in front of it. I’m going to take both letters into branch tomorrow as I’ve been busy at work today.

Been to branch today and they are still not let me take the mo year out even with the letter as it’s still under investigation? What else is there to investigate I’ve sent them the receipt from the guy who bought the watch from me from his end and proof of delivery?! I’m so co fused now, what’s the point in sending the letter if they give me the money stating they will?

How long can the investigation take? Am I correct in saying it’s 30 days? Surely it can’t take longer then 60days as that’s how long they said until the accounts will be closed. They can’t keep the money that would be stealing and I’m sure a bank wouldn’t do such a thing as that’s fraud

It can take more than 60 days if the investigation isn't complete within that time. They cannot hand the money back if they are not satisfied with its origins. Hopefully, it will be completed quickly.

But don't worry - it's still not stealing or fraud.
