List your frogs – I’ve absolutely smashed this one, with a few more still to do but I’m reluctant because they cost money (car breakdown cover, landlord insurance and to buy a yoga mat). I plan on getting more done today.

Definitely check out cashback offers - I got our landlord insurance last year for £126 (improved cover on what I'd had, too) - and then got £94.50 cashback on it - net cost of just over £30 :D (and was with a 'known' co - M00re than, from memory)

ETA: Oooh - and yoga mats were in the central aisle in A1di last week - suspect L1dl have similar offers on at this time of year, too :)

Hugs and congratulations from me to your daughter ccl. One of my co-workers once said I had an exciting life - I was going to our doctor's with all 3 boys one morning when an old woman collapsed on the pavement. She didn't respond when I spoke to her (came round fairly quickly), a young woman was phoning for an ambulance and I sent the 2 older boys to the nearest doctor's surgery (we were on the carpark next to it) to ask if they had a practice nurse (too early for the doctors to be in) and they brought 2 back. One of my other co-workers said that it was because I was like Wonderwoman - always there when needed (I am good in a crisis).

Speky Manchester has lots to support the homeless. One of our local selling pages suggested before Christmas that anyone heading for a night out should dig out an old warm coat and pass it on to someone in need.

There is an all year shelter in the crypt of Manchester Cathedral who always want volunteers and they may have advice about other organisations and ways to help. BIg Issue in the North also has an office and also need volunteers.(just buy a copy from a vendor for details).

You could ask at work for donations from anyone whose relatives can't think past socks (homeless people have foot problems when as they don't have always have access to washing facilities, are often on their feet all day and need spare socks in order to be able to change and wash the ones they have. Volunteering with the homeless is not for the faint hearted but very worthwhile.

I'm having a ground zero day but from tiredness (stayed awake all night bar the odd snooze) and aching (mum's soupery cupboard is beautiful though). Remembered my overwhelmed mantra - work out what you are going to eat today (other half of the tuna and bean salad and 2 apples which was *reasonably healthy *needed using up * was quick * ate slowly (mindfulness/ better for the digestion)

Still not feeling stable enough for a shower so a little wash and put my support bandages on and will go and empty the washer and dishwasher (love my dishwasher), sitting down as much as possible, then reload. Have taken one bag of brown turkey meat/ bones from the freezer to make turkey stew (big stockpot is in the dishwasher, cabbage and leeks are already chopped, will make the rest up as I go along).

Have a few 'on the bed' jobs I can do when I need to rest my ankle, may try to write a list of kitchen frogs (kitchen is an elephant that needs to be broken into bite sized pieces) if I can stay downstairs long enough.

Have just permanently deleted 17 junk items and 51 deleted items from my email - think the new format annoyed me so much that I've let it build up so quite pleased with that. Started scissor sharpening two days ago (having a sit down to rest from tidying) and have a mixture of practical/ creative/ financial jobs from tiny:T to gulp:eek:

Hoping for a SFD as the furthest I want to go is the corner house (to bring the bin back when emptied). Have already taken 2 bags of pots/ recycling down ( a quick win to give me a boost).

When in crisis deal with Food, Clothes, Bills. We all need to eat, we all need clothes to wear (even if it's only a nightie and wellies) and we all need to stay on top of the bills (need to check mum's bank account as well).

Today I am grateful for being productive without having to move off the bed, for some simple jobs to do that will make a big improvement and for having 'over-shopped' for winter and Christmas. It was totally necessary (may become a bit of a prepper and set up an emergency food store - like the emergency fund but with non-perishable food to last 3-6 months). Will need washing tablets soon. I was going to start making some cleaning stuff/ swap to more eco friendly products but may put this on hold for now (until I can stand up).

Priorities to set up this month
    * Drink more water
    * Eat simply and healthily (using what I have in initially)
    * Sort sleep pattern.

    See you later turtles.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Hello turtles!!

Hope you're all good, sorry for not posting for a while am now gonna catch up with the thread!

    1/10 NSD's so far - I know not very good :(

Went out on Monday with DS SIL and nephew to watch the new Mary Poppins film, it was a baby friendly showing so it was really relaxed, DS loved walking around and watching through the seats and eating popcorn. We are planning to go again in a few weeks!

My CC amount has gone up :O totally my own fault but I have decided to fill the car and freezer before giving it back to my dad. I will then draw out money from my account when I get paid and put this money into envelopes for the month and use cash. I will leave my cards at home so I am not tempted to use them. I think for me this is the only way that it will work.

    Grateful for:
    Warm clothes
My CC (even though I shouldn't rely on it!)
    My sons little smile :D

    C xx

DH has had day off today and I don't work Wednesday and Thursday usually. We have cycled, any my word it was freezing, also took the dog for a 45 minute walk.

    NSD number 6 today.

lauren - I have several savings pots attached to our current account for things like birthdays, car expenses and holidays but I also leave £30 every month in the current account as a buffer for small unexpected spends such as a taxi or a prescription.

ccl - well done to your DD.

  • Hello :hello:
I'm so tired today - only day 3 but I've already been accused of being grumpy at work. Mainly because I disagree with our school's homework policy and said so. People are not used to me expressing my dislike for policies.
I've decided that the best thing for me and my mental health tonight is just to catch up on here quickly then have a night off from crochet, and just relax with the kids. DD wants us to watch silent witness together.
I have finally bagged another nsd :j and crossed a very large frog off the list.
Keep the faith - I will check in properly once I've gotten this week out of the way.

CCL - Your dd did a wonderful thing.
    NSD today - 6/20.
Walked as usual for temp work.
    Dealt with two frogs.
    Grateful for:
A MH support organisation giving me the push to encourage me to book a gp appt, since stopping my anti depressants. Was not getting support from my current gp who has shown no concern when I emailed surgery saying I was stopping to take them. Booked the appt with the gp who is the partner in the surgery.
Coping very well since stopping taking medication.
Watching ML programme that I recordered.

Kerry Woman - hope the gp you see is more supportive, and looks after you well.

Today I am grateful for my hat, scarf and gloves, for lovely sunshine, for dd cycling to and from school, for a tea of use-it-ups, for dh and I deciding not to take up the offer of a lunch at someone's house on sunday (they had no concept of what you can/not eat as a coeliac and it just wasn't worth the hassle of me standing there looking at the food and not being able to eat it) which means that we can properly celebrate dd's bday, for a lovely email from step dd2, for Due South, for dh not having to go out tonight.
