Today I am grateful for working with some lovely people, for dd having a good day, for time out and about with dh, for the kids in our neighbourhood, for finding a sainz that has all the gf/df items we needto buy from them as well as having free parking (for spending over £10 and given that the bread alone is £2.80 per loaf, it's easy to reach!), for dd's dance and speech practice coming along nicely, for still working my way through Sherlock Holmes' short stories, for swallowing another frog.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Apologies for the very brief check in turtles, but I have been on the go for literally 13 hours with very little rest, and I am desperate for a bit of down time.
Still haven't managed to bag a nsd today. DS informed me this morning that he had lost 1 (!?!) of his plimsolls, so after endless looking about we left the house at 7.15 to pop to Mr A on the way to school so that we could buy a new pair (£3).
Taught all morning, meeting straight after lunch and a full 2 hours of writing exam papers for Year 10. Left work as early as I could as I'd gotten a call from dd and she needed me home for a cuddle. I'm so proud of her though - our elderly neighbour had fallen over in his garden and couldn't get up again. She called for help and sat with him for 40 minutes until someone arrived. She's my hero - although a bit shaken by the whole thing bless her.
Made dinner, did another 2 hours of school work, bit of housework, teeny jobs like the savings fund, ordered an online shop for tomorrow (so I'll count the spends on that today as I've ordered it today), and swallowed 1 frog by sending a couple of emails I've been needing to do.
Now I am shattered and desperate to wind down, so I'm going to update my diary on here and do just that.
Keep the faith everyone - you are doing amazingly well! Not giving up

My weekly shop tomorrow so I'll update budgets then. I am planning to make hub a birthday cake in a few weeks so I'm looking up ideas for that. Still want it to be special even though things are tight
You might want to look at Nigella's chocolate sheet cake Lauren, our absolute go to for birthday cakes, and cheap too, as it uses just cocoa powder rather than chocolate. You can find it at https://www.nigella.com/recipes/chocolate-sheet-cake
It is also easy and doesn't take long to cook. The recipe says 'best quality cocoa powder' but I find the kind you get in the supermarket is fine - it has to be cocoa powder though, not just drinking chocolate
No good if you don't like chocolate cake though0 -
SFD's - Still on 5/20
Make plans - no plans for me, but diary filling up with other people's stuff.
Always debts - all paid - should have a large whack to shunt to bathroom renovation/wall knocking down account
List your frogs - a few curtain related to be done before the weekend - curtain pull to be restrung again, thermal liners to be pinned and hemmed, curtains for DS2, curtain for hall doorway, curtains for patio doors (ugly office type blinds in there currently. Lots of curtain bits!!
Little savings - need to hit the surveys again but motivation lacking. Money jars back into prominent positions.
Chill out - books and baths.
Helping others - DD's and s/o to charities gone out
Always grateful - I am surrounded by those I love. Ok, so technically I grew 4/5ths of them, but still, they are pretty awesome. Lots of football matches. Candles. My pizzas being gorgeous and for making loads for pennies.
New to you - 3 jumper dresses from c/s total cost £11 - it is going to get chilly on that playground waiting for kids to come out. Thermals deployed. Boots ready. Also a free wooden fireplace surround for DS2s room from G0mtree. Will be painted (I have the paint from a previous job) and put up this week too.
Get involved - here I am, apart from when I was banned by admin (grrrr!)
Exercise going badly but healthy eating doing well.
Sort it out - jam jar pantry organisation with sticky labels All looking very organised and lovely in my store cupboard. Going to go back to evening YS raids a few times a week.
I got up at 6am for the first time in a fortnight. Schools are back and I need to plan. Motivation was less than 5% though.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Was awake early, after being up late, but fell asleep multiple times after having my morning pills and my shower. I had wanted to get to mum's early.
Dressed quickly, packed minimally and set off with the walker to the post box. Post man took pity on me and accepted my letter, even though he'd got out of the van, emptied the box and got back in the van. Bad mothernerd - I bought pudding and chips. I had planned what I would take to mum's with me but in the rush I did not divert to the kitchen . The chip shop was in a direct line from the post box to the taxi office and was cheaper and healthier than Krunchy Chicken.
Booked a taxi for this afternoon at the same time as requesting one for mum. Ate whilst mum launched into a long rambling monologue with a few misunderstandings and asides. I am going to a charity 'show' sometime in February but not included in the pantomime visit this month (thank goodness).
Someone had phoned before I arrived, asking about the change in medication the neurologist wants to implement. Mum had difficulty hearing them and gets flustered if people phone out of the blue. She thought it was the pharmacy, I decided it must have been our doctor's receptionist / possibly the consultant's secretary.
Mum watched a film, I sorted out the 'soupery' and did a stock check. Moved things round a bit and made more room for a couple of items. I have been sitting and kneeling on the floor although I did get my leg trapped under the cupboard door and had to shuffle around a lot trying to work out how to get off the floor.
Quick tea from mum's freezer and finished that cupboard (at least 3 more to go and that was the easy one), then locked up and waited for my taxi to the doctor's. Medication review - diabetes management and depression/ mood review. Mood is great, down to 7 (anything under 10 is considered background, routine stresses of life). He asked about CBT and if it would be helpful to go back (allowed one go every six months on NHS). I said I thought I was okay atm, but do need to go through my notes and set up some of my routines again - sleep pattern is awry.
Positive benefits of the sprained ankle (it's a bit stronger today) - before Christmas I did what I could, only absolute essentials and left everything else (everyone had lots of food and there were token presents although DS3 and Beloved did get a mattress as well). As I absolutely could not do more, I felt almost no guilt about the things that went undone.
Most of my blood tests were fine (no kidney damage etc) but one of the markers was high so doctor has doubled the dose of one of my tablets. Worst part was being weighed - weight is appalling (I've tried but not hard enough and not consistently enough) so I'm being referred to weight management (any help welcomed with open arms). Obviously not being able to stand up for more than 5 minutes isn't conducive to exercise but I need to make this a priority this year (and find that grit, determination and gumption).
Asked if I had a minute left to talk about mum's medication and worked out the quantities of the new tablets required. Mum was very adamant that she knew what she was doing with her tablets (admits she gets confused about many other things). Person on the phone was saying they can't do 9 and a half. i explained to out doctor that neurologist wants to reduce the dose gradually so mum will take 10mg one day (2 x 5 mg) and 9mg on alternate days (1 x 5mg + 4 x 1mg). Prescriptions given for my medication increase and mum's change.
Have put the bin out and am now resting/ on the verge of nodding off again. Aching a lot probably as a result of rolling around on the floor amidst towers of tins.
Today I am grateful for my wonderful doctor, mum's walker and a million times that I did all those on-line home delivery food orders before Christmas. I am currently restricted to very local shopping but the things I have stored have got us through. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Ooo foxholes I'm jealous of your free fire surround. I've been looking for a cheap/free one for months. By the time I've found one we'll be out of this house...
NSD 4/15 here as we stayed in.
DD pushed me today - I love her more than air but she also finds all my buttons some days. And then jams them all at once. Whilst DH is away overnight. I've always said I suspect there is a touch of madam about her!
Gratitudes
DD now in bed and I'm grateful for my booze cabinet holding red wine to soothe my worn soul
For wearing my new walking boots in round the house today
For finding things in the freezer for a quick dinner when hub popped in briefly. Will recycle meal plan idea for another day0
