    Fifth Anniversary Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello!

Spend free days (NSD’s) – 4/10. I spent over the weekend on a bit of food shopping and my friend's birthday present but it was a NSD today. My mum and I are doing a spend fast this year on clothing, accessories & other non essentials which has given me some added motivation.

Chill out – Enjoyed the book I'm reading on my commute.

Always be grateful – I'm grateful for:
    1. The relaxing weekend I just had
    2. My gym membership
    3. My kindle

Exercise – Went to the gym during my lunch break which felt really good. :j

Spend free days (NSD’s)I'm going to aim for 20 as money is going to be pretty tight this month - NSD today so 5/20.

Make plans for the monthI've got a couple of things planned for this month but will make sure that they are as low budget as possible - first is a catch up with the girls this week, seems like there's been a change of plans so are now going to a restaurant.

Always pay your debts firstBudget is done for January and debt payment has been made - no additional debt payments today.

List your frogsMade a start on this and will add to the list as I think of more - nothing done today.

Little savings I've added a whole £2.50 to my emergency fund taking it to £9.50 :rotfl:, will continue to add as I can - 2p added to the coppers jar today :D.

Chill out – Will aim to read a bit every day. I've also got a few adult colouring books which have been sitting there for ages so will aim to do some colouring in too - did a wee bit of colouring earlier.

Helping others – I've set up a charity donation which will come out at the start of the month. I'll also add items to the food bank whenever I'm in the supermarket - planning a sort through of clothes at some point so will take a bag to the CS.

Always be gratefulWill post 3 gratitudes each day. - my new coffee cup, being inside, yummy roast pork leftovers for tea :)

New to YouMe and OH are planning to do a huge sort though of all our stuff, there's still unopened boxes from when we moved in, who knows what treasures we might find ;) - nothing done today.

Get involvedI always struggle with daily posting but will try this month - I'm here :D

ExerciseI really need to get back into exercising regularly. I got some vouchers for Christmas to get more running shoes so that will be my first step - no exercise today. Was supposed to go out for a run but postponed it until tomorrow as I think we would have got blown away this evening!

Sort it out I don't really have anything in the cupboards lurking that doesn't get used except spices but will aim to use up some of them - nothing used today.
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86

    Late one for me tonight.

NSD #6 in the bag. TECHNICALLY I bought a TV, however, mine broke yesterday, so we took it to Argos for a refund & spent what we were refunded on a second hand one & pocketed 150 change . Sinse it was the same product I think I keep my NSD :D
Savings & debts done. I'd love to know peoples budgeting catergories by the way Ive started writing down everything we spend & I'm going to divide it into catergories, I've got obvious ones like groceries, entertainment, clothing etc but what others ones ? What does my new second hand bed come under?

Make plans- still on with my list of free stuff to do in the area.
Frogs- a few more items sold on Ebay & posted :D I have also made a few phone calls I've been putting off & looked at our heating & hot water settings & reduced the time they're on.
Little savings- I have moved the money refunded from our TV into savings to see us through the next 3 months when our car tax x2, MOT, sons birthday & holiday need paying for.

Chill out- relaxed in the bath.
Helping others- offered a work colleague a spare stool for her grandson.

Gratitudes- grateful for ham egg & chips :D, cups of tea & listening to the wind outside while cosy in my bed, I love the sound of wild weather :o
Sort it out- made pasta & soup for this weeks lunches & used up bits from the fridge.

Hugs & happy birthday Days to all where relevant. :A
  • NSDs Aiming for 10 : An NSD today so 2 / 10. Left purse at home!

List your frogs –I have eaten two frogs today - added loads to my list of frogs!

Chill out – Tired so was a bit unchilled today.

Helping others – Started my next CS bag. Helped a lost tourist at the weekend. Did a kind thing for a new work colleague

Always be grateful – Grateful for:
Yesterday: Having a dishwasher again, marmite, feeling stronger at the gym, yummy brussel sprouts with dinner

Get involved – Turtle number 28 all present and correct!

Exercise Gym today. More than 10,000 steps daily so far this year

Sort it out – 3 days behind on this.

Small savings TT daily - total so far £6.95 in my £1k emergency fund.
  • lauren - likewise on the spending categories. I've realised I could do with a slush fund as this month I've spent £6.20 on OTC medicine and £8.40 on postage. Neither of these things have categories and I can usually go months without spending in either, but not a whole year. One to ponder

    Hi all:j

NSDs – Aiming for 10 as am going away on 22nd for a few days (Christmas treat) : Now 5/ 10

Make plans for the month – Planned visit to Barcelona later in the month. Rail ticket & plane already paid for.
Plans to go out somewhere maybe Thursday..

Always pay your debts first – No debts but do use a cc which is paid in full every month...need to rein this in, spending has been frightful of late..CC paid off in full, now need to make sure it doesn't rack up to those levels this month. No spends today

List your frogs – Started another very large frog this week, but am pleased with progress. (Clearing bedroom). During this also found a brand new sealed cover for the sofa bed promised to DD (could be 2 items out of the house!!) and also a brand new fitted jersey sheet....treasure. Small frogs dealt with today & DD needing the sofa bed so that & its cover will soon be out of the sun room & then we can clear that, put all Christmas cards/bags together in a plastic box & removed any that could be used for birthday - ie not too festive looking.

Little Savings – Put in a £2 coin that I had in my change the other day, will get cash out & pay in to bank. Joined 1p challenge..Will add to moneybox tonight. Also have some money in TCB, meant to access for Christmas but didn't so it should have mounted up. Need to work out how to withdraw it to obtain max benefit.

Chill out – working on this. One of my frogs is to start doing some complex knitting...as I am supposed to be doing a 'knitalong'. So far have not even started. Pressure on knitalong as second section now posted online, have not even done tension square yet. hmm. Did get outside & planted some bulbs for indoors even though weather not good.

Helping othersRegular shift in CS tomorrow.

Always be grateful – Grateful for today:

    - progress on clearing rooms

    - happy dogs & entertaining cat

    - new book to read

New to You – Have more than enough of pretty much everything clothes wise etc but still looking online, forced self not to purchase. Will need printer ink soon as all run out. Will be shopping tomorrow but don't need much. Done food shopping but still will be going to the big store tomorrow with DD....do not intend to buy .. OK did buy so no NSD again today. However, DD wants a sofa bed so offered her the one in the sunroom...if it works will get more space & she gets a free item win-win. DD brought some packets of porridge she no longer eats but I will. Lots of things I will be able to wear should I lose some weight. Surely that should be an incentive? Have told DH no clothes handbags or shoe purchases this year....he said he is the same Lets see if we stick to it! Second day of healthy eating, just scuppered by DD who brought me in an OOD crème egg..waah

    Get involved I'm here!

    Exercise
Very minimal today but did get outside for some fresh air.

Sort it out – Need to do this & will be eating from stuffed freezers & cupboards for January. Ate something from freezer for supper & made do with stuff in fridge for lunch. DH helped with jammed freezer drawers - it was on his list...caused by me going into unlit garage & fighting off 2 dogs whilst removing/adding stuff to upright freezer, then quickly shutting door. Not easy..But now have inventory of that freezer other than top drawer, amazing amount of food it holds!! Still eating from stocks but will be minimal shopping tomorrow for fresh stuff.

    GO Turtles!!!!
New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear
  • Budget categories: I use YNAB which has lots of pre-set categories. I split the bills into mortgage/c tax/insurances/utilities, and I have categories for groceries, medical (this incl dentist and optician), vet, home maintenance (incl furniture), haircuts, clothes and shoes and mobile phone. Plus savings pots for EF, Xmas, birthdays and holidays. I find having lots of categories helps me focus on where the money is going.

    NSDs - at 2/10, hoping for 3/10 today :)

Frogs: got through some work ones yesterday, first frog today was getting out of bed when the alarm went off :( and getting dressed and organised before coffee. Otherwise I think it will take me 5-20 minutes when it is more like 20, and I end up leaving late.

Today I am grateful for coffee, my warm dressing gown and having washed up last night!

    Good afternoon Turtles,

Today is NSD#7. Hubs hair cut has been put off until Thursday.
Frogs- ticked one more off the list. Feels good getting through it :D
Gratitudes- grateful for- nursery agreeing to laminate the reward chart I've made DS, hub warming up the car for me this morning & for the sunshine outside, even if it is actually freezing cold.

New to me- my friend told me to look in CEX for old sky lander figures, my littlies just play with them as toys not video games but they love them & apparently they are really cheap in there. Worth a try.
Sort it out- my friends given us some Annabelle Karmel meals her DD wont eat. My kids can have these for tea tomorrow :D

My weekly shop tomorrow so I'll update budgets then. I am planning to make hub a birthday cake in a few weeks so I'm looking up ideas for that. Still want it to be special even though things are tight :D
