Raphael and 364ab - Happy Birthday.
Spend free days (NSD’s) – 3/20. NSD today.
Make plans for the month – Planning to see 2 films at cinema. Will bring my own refreshments. The cost is £4.99 per film. A friend texted me about meeting up next Saturday. Just waiting to confirm details.
Always pay your debts first – Budget set. No debt. Do have savings, monthly DD already set up. Will add extra when I can.
List your frogs – Just did a few frogs today.
Little savings – Any change from each week I will put coins into coin bags and when full will put into savings accounts. Also am always on the lookout for roadkill.
Chill out – This I already do. Will carry on with self-care, eg meditation, reading, wordsearch. This is very important for my MH. Done self care. This was well needed today as was really tired.
Helping others – Will be looking into food bank donation. Cash donation already done to charity and some bits to cs.
Always be grateful – Grateful for: Getting rest this afternoon, the ice skating programme that is on this evening, seeing a robin in the park.
New to You – This I will be doing. Got quite a few cross stitch kits that I can start on.
Get involved – Checking in
Exercise – I also have joined up for R.E.D. January. Did a leisurely walk in the park as I was tired.
Sort it out – Will be making sure I am using everything up. Will be using up my toiletries – these I have really got down and monitoring them closely. Have used some items that needed to be used up.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -

But then, where do you draw the line at what is considered an emergency? I mean, a washing machine repair is definitely an emergency, but would my vet bills count? (That needs to be read in the style of Nick Knowles doing Who Dares Wins)
I have decided not to count today as a nsd, but I do consider your washing machine to be an emergency greent so if you want to count it as a nsd then by all means do.
Aww -thanks, ccl - but I'll take it as a spend day - I already have my milk purchases as an exception!xx

eA challenging day. Lots of me hurts, mostly my legs (think that's from trying to protect the injured ankle) but I've been quietly productive.
First time I went downstairs (finished off two packs from the freezer - repeat of yesterday's meal, but using up) I stayed down whilst my food cooked and moved washing to the radiator (sat on the walker), made a list of the meat in the freezer (basis for many meals, once the bits have been demolished), made a list of spices and pulses (so I can write out the labels up here), gathered rubbish from the bin (plates scraped but no bin bag in) into ripped carrier bags (dried up pasta with some sort of sauce, noodles left half way through yuck) and packed lots of random bits scattered on the floor (they must think the bin has a gravity pull to collect everything thrown in it's general direction) all sitting down on a chair.
Second trip downstairs (2 more bulky items from the freezer into the oven), gathered rubbish for all 4 bins onto a wheeled trolley, pushed it down the yard and binned them appropriately, dry washing gathered to take upstairs, more washing onto radiator and airer and a fresh load into the washer (washer tabs to shopping list), second pea wigwam (my Christmas trees) into yard - dropped the first one from my room last week through the window and it landed standing up. Emptied dishwasher, asked DS3 to bring any pots from the front room and scrape one of his dishes (think it had been hidden under other items on the table), filled the dishwasher and set it off. Lots of clothes put on hangers.
Nearly everything hurts but am separating into can do it for 15 minutes, can do it for 5 minutes and yikes, no way, get back on the bed now.
The grand room tidy is still not complete (very little actual stuff left but it's those odd, difficult to classify things). Big pile of things for putting things in but shapes of boxes and trays don't match the things still to be put away iyswim.
Tough love time - going to remove my quilt and pillows, put any remaining stuff on the bed (right height for sorting), sit on the office chair so I can roll back and forth as the floor will be clear of obstacles.
Can't get in the bed until everything is away (when I was I child I would pile everything in front of the bedroom door, it's amazing how quickly you can tidy when you need the bathroom).
Today I am grateful for finding lots of my clothes lost in the mountain of their clothes, for getting things done, for the washer and dishwasher (my new best friends), for a new to me series that was interesting and entertaining (only 4 episodes though) and for grit, determination and gumption (must be some left hidden deep inside). Still eating leftovers/food from stores.Surprising how far a chicken will stretch. Made some soup with odds and ends of vegetables that were lurking in the fridge.

NSD's in August 11/200 -
Spend free days (NSD’s) – I'm going to aim for 20 as money is going to be pretty tight this month - NSD today so 4/20.
Make plans for the month – I've got a couple of things planned for this month but will make sure that they are as low budget as possible - first is a catch up with the girls this week, seems like there's been a change of plans so are now going to a restaurant.
Always pay your debts first – Budget is done for January and debt payment has been made - no additional debt payments today.
List your frogs – Made a start on this and will add to the list as I think of more - tree and decorations taken down and put away, tidied the other half of the sofa (general dumping ground for mail, papers, receipts, bills, etc).
Little savings – I've added a whole £2.50 to my emergency fund taking it to £9.50 :rotfl:, will continue to add as I can - nothing added today.
Chill out – Will aim to read a bit every day. I've also got a few adult colouring books which have been sitting there for ages so will aim to do some colouring in too - did a wee bit of colouring earlier.
Helping others – I've set up a charity donation which will come out at the start of the month. I'll also add items to the food bank whenever I'm in the supermarket - planning a sort through of clothes at some point so will take a bag to the CS.
Always be grateful – Will post 3 gratitudes each day. - feeling better, good shift at work, yummy roast pork for tea
New to You – Me and OH are planning to do a huge sort though of all our stuff, there's still unopened boxes from when we moved in, who knows what treasures we might find- sofa sorted out.
Get involved – I always struggle with daily posting but will try this month - I'm here
Exercise – I really need to get back into exercising regularly. I got some vouchers for Christmas to get more running shoes so that will be my first step - no exercise today.
Sort it out – I don't really have anything in the cupboards lurking that doesn't get used except spices but will aim to use up some of them - nothing used today.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £2.11/£50

Well done 364ab - fantastic news. I miss keeping my own hens. DH did mention that perhaps we could in our current house, I think it was just to cheer me up though. And the back garden here is so swampy I'd have to fit them with flippers and snorkels. Anyway...
Happy birthday to birthday turtles, and birthday turtle relatives!
Not an NSD, since I had to spend 50p putting air in my tyres I decided to also get the weekly shop done, buy stamps to finish DD's thank you cards and very pleased that I manage to buy postage online for a card to go abroad. Means I don't have to waste an NSD on a measly spend at the post office later this week. Happy with amounts spent on all. I think I can get away with no further spending til Friday though I must arrange a meet up with a friend this week, we may need to pay for parking if we go for a country walk.
Gratitudes
- For eating nearly as many frogs today as a stereotypical French person in a cartoon sketch
- For DD eventually going to sleep tonight, for DH's help with this before I lost my tiny mind
- I spent 5 minutes painting my nails once DD was in bed. Probably futile as they'll be chipped by 1030 tomorrow morning but for now I'm pleased0
