Little savings.. None as i haven't been out to spend any money. Have put £10 in my savings from the 20p tin though.
Helping others. Done 2 shifts in the charity shop this week.
Grateful for having some good company, not needing to go shopping and Casualty on the telly.
Nothing else to report. Think I have a rather boring life.

SFD number 4 today. Took large items to a pop up recycling centre in a local car park. Great idea, the council come to a large village car park several times a year instead of you taking your items to the tip. Then went to the tip with a car full of rubble and leftovers from the messy and disorganised plasterers who abandoned all the waste on my drive. Had a lovely long dog walk with my sister and used up lots of freezer items for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Today I am grateful for my dogs, my sister and my local council.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
New roof and car £8557/£19003 New kitchen £396/£5039 Credit card Paid Student loan Paid0 -
Oh lawks, I didn't mean to set off an aubergine argument! I must confess, I have been either vegetarian or vegan all my adult life and I cannot stand fennel - yet it so often gets featured as a meat replacement in dishes. Fennel risotto, fennel tart, fennel pasta, fennel pizza; why? What animal tastes of aniseed?!
Moving swiftly on; DD not happy today so no exercise outside as spent all day trying to keep her as less-unhappy as possible. This resulted in not spending either, NSD 3/15. Will spend tomorrow inflating my tyres at the petrol station. Rock n' roll.
Gratitudes
Finishing DD's thank you cards for her Christmas presents
The fact that she's gone to sleep with no grumbles

Hi all:j
NSDs – Aiming for 10 as am going away on 22nd for a few days (Christmas treat) : Now 3/ 10
Make plans for the month – Planned visit to Barcelona later in the month. Rail ticket & plane already paid for. DH sat down with me & planned a few trips, not sure which if any to be taken this month, watch this space. No more plans as yet, tbc tomorrow.
Always pay your debts first – No debts but do use a cc which is paid in full every month...need to rein this in, spending has been frightful of late..CC paid off in full, now need to make sure it doesn't rack up to those levels this month. Little more on cc today, will keep an eye on it. No spends today, DH treated me to a new diary, calendar, 5 year plan book - and a fish supper...gah, lent DD £10 for taxi fare, need to remember to transfer from the money I am holding for her.
List your frogs – Need to do this, although dealt with a massive frog which was working out the amount taken out of business ac as it had to be paid back in order not to incur a lot of tax. Took me ages & was very shocked at amount needing to be repaid...will take this in hand as of NOW. OK took some time today & listed a fair few frogs at long last. Actually dealt with a small one, many more to come..Dealt with another small frog today (froglet???). Started another very large frog today, but am pleased with progress. (Clearing bedroom). During this also found a brand new sealed cover for the sofa bed promised to DD (could be 2 items out of the house!!) and also a brand new fitted jersey sheet....treasure.
Little Savings – Put in a £2 coin that I had in my change the other day, will get cash out & pay in to bank. Joined 1p challenge..
Chill out – working on this. One of my frogs is to start doing some complex knitting...as I am supposed to be doing a 'knitalong'. So far have not even started. Chilled out doing some gardening today. Actually planted 4 things that have been in pots forever. Slightly less chilled out as emptied 2 paper bins to check that there wasn't a small present that didn't get noticed by DH when wrapping, as it is missing. Didn't find it but did find lots of things that shouldn't be in there, plus a few money off vouchers still in date.
Helping others –Regular shift in CS.
Always be grateful – Grateful for today:
- DD finally going to her own home - at least for a couple of days...
- cheese & biscuits
- being outside in the fresh air
New to You – Have more than enough of pretty much everything clothes wise etc but still looking online, forced self not to purchase. Will need printer ink soon as all run out. Will be shopping tomorrow but don't need much. Done food shopping but still will be going to the big store tomorrow with DD....do not intend to buy .. OK did buy so no NSD again today. However, DD wants a sofa bed so offered her the one in the sunroom...if it works will get more space & she gets a free item win-win. DD brought some packets of porridge she no longer eats but I will. Lots of things I will be able to wear should I lose some weight. Surely that should be an incentive?
Get involved – Late but here! Again.
Exercise – Lots of walking round enormous shop - not helped by having to retrace steps several times as missed something the first time round. Enough exercise for me. Dealt with dog again, this will be an ongoing project. Plus more garden tidy up. None to speak of today. Had a wakeful night, then hard to get going this morning - had a knock on effect. Gardening today the only exercise but did include some digging.
Sort it out – Need to do this & will be eating from stuffed freezers & cupboards for January. Will need fresh food milk & animal food, but that should be it. Got fresh food & animal food for this week at least. Its on the frog list! Froglet dealt with as the oven maintenance visit didn't suit me on Tuesday morning as I always work that day. They did call me to cancel & rearrange, but I was in Ireland & just out of hospital so that's probably why I agreed to it. Now coming on the 31st, much better. Have asked DH to help with newest freezer tomorrow as drawers jammed in anyhow. Therefore can do inventory have no intention of buying more food atm.
GO Turtles!!!!New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Hope everyone is recovering from various ails, trials and tribulations. There is a really great vibe on this thread and its so supportive and nice to see.
NSD – 2/15
Make plans for the month – ended up having breakfast out yesterday as we woke up late and had no bread and wanted to get the shopping done early so we could get back to do things around the house.
Always pay your debts first – budget for food set – no DD’s today but have updated all the spends.
List your frogs – freezers rejigged so that stuff for this week and for using up are in the kitchen freezer and the big freezer has our stock in it
Little savings – 55p from into the 365 day penny challenge
Chill out – no time for reading today
Helping others – will do
Always be grateful – 3 things I am grateful for are:
- - having all my laundry up to date
- - for having a really comical 7 year old son who makes us laugh
- - for having a hubby who is great at practical things like recharging the battery on my car as it is flat due to the internal light being left on
New to You – continuing to read my kindle stock
Get involved – checking in
Exercise – steps done
Sort it out – sorted out the freezers so they are all set for going back to work on Monday (groan)0 -

Good morning Turtles!
Today is NSD #5. I will be aiming for the same again next week.
Make plans- booked onto a bird box building course with my 3 year old. I haven't paid yet but it will be 10 ish & during half term.I'm also planning to go on a walk next weekend to a local falls. I will need to pay £2.50 to park by the looks of it but that's the only cost.
Always pay debts & savings first. done
Frogs- I finally got round to listing some items for sale. Not many takers but I did sell my high chair & got ten pounds for it. Passed straight to hub for his hair cut next week. Hub also sold something which he will get 8 quid for next week when he's in work. Every penny counts these next few months .
Chill out- sat in bed having a brew. Hub usually lets me have a lie in on the weekend.
Helping others- swapping tips for good cheap days out with my neighbours. Not sure its helping but we have a real little gang at the mo with the 3 closest houses to me & I love it
Be grateful- grateful for my lovely friend who always passes on old stuff from her children for my boys, what we don't use we donate. For good neighbours & for local parks.
Excersize- taking the kids out again today.
Sort it out- making soup with leftovers today0 -
Cheerleader No 1 checking in with some words of support and encouragement. Goodness, you're all doing well and sounding positive. Lots of frogs eaten and the penny challenge is going really well. I've started mine and I'm up to day 39 which is when I come back from holiday. Most of the pennies were lurking around in drawers etc.
So tomorrow at this time I should be on a flight to Amsterdam. Can't wait!
Have a great January. I'll be following even though I can't post. See you all in February. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Spend free days (NSDs) – I’m aiming for 16. Currently on 3/16.
Make plans for the month – I had a (planned) meal out yesterday and another meal with friends next week. The rest should be coming from existing spend (groceries) as they’ll be at home.
Always pay your debts first – No current debt, thankfully. I'm trying to re-build my emergency fund.
List your frogs – Made the list. Haven’t crossed off anything yet.
Little savings – I’ve joined January’s Bring Your Lunch to Work thread and I’m aiming for 16 days (which I hope will also be NSDs). I saw someone was transferring their lunch money for each day that they don’t spend so I’m trying to do that too. I am transferring £8 for each day that I complete. I can't believe how much money I've been throwing away on soup and coffee .
Chill out – I have started a new Crochet Along (CAL) and am also trying to meditate daily again.
Helping others – I add extra items to my shop specifically as donations for our local food bank. I'm also checking about actually volunteering again.
Always be grateful – I am writing these in my journal.
New to You - I am recycling old yarn for the CAL I’m doing, instead of buying new yarn. I’m determined to resist buying, even though the yarn pack looks so pretty! (It’s the CAL from attic 24, if anyone’s interested / also doing it). It only just started on Friday.
Get involved – I will try and post more
Exercise – I signed up for RED January (for Mind). So far, I have managed a walk each day. Yesterday’s was only a short walk though so I’m going to try and make up for that in the week.
Sort it out – I am going to try and create a ‘use it up’ box (it may be a series of boxes as I have quite a lot of tins/packets to use up). I was talking to my friends about this yesterday and we might swap boxes so this might also double-up for ‘new to you’.
Thank you CCL and everyone for this great thread. :beer:Save 12k in 2022 #26
