Believe it or not, when I was at the garage I was thinking how unfair it was that an emergency would lose me a nsd, because it's hardly mindless spending, or spending stuff on wants rather than needs. But then, where do you draw the line at what is considered an emergency? I mean, a washing machine repair is definitely an emergency, but would my vet bills count? (That needs to be read in the style of Nick Knowles doing Who Dares Wins)
I have decided not to count today as a nsd, but I do consider your washing machine to be an emergency greent so if you want to count it as a nsd then by all means do.

So, if you were a pressure cooker instruction manual, where would you hide? The cooker was still all in its plastic wrapper in the box but no sign of any instructions...

    Today I'm grateful for:
Getting my puncture repaired without a lot of hassle and expense.
Using up a carton of coconut milk in the cupboard (made a rice pudding).
A very large gin and tonic

Not done a lot today but was still clearing stuff (very slowly) at about 3am. Lots of sleeping. Was 3pm before I felt strong enough to get onto my stool for a shower.

One meal from the freezer leftovers and a luxury salad for tea from bits in the fridge (about half of which needed to be used up) lettuce, leeks, cucumber, mange tout, tomatoes, small red, green and yellow pepper and mushrooms. Mixed a tin of tuna with a tin of bean salad (usually make my own but this was bought when I was ill and the offer price was good) and added half the potato salad from mum's (bb 23 Dec but seems fine). Enough tuns/ beans/ potato salad for another meal. may be enough for another meal from what is piled on my plate.

Also cut myself another piece of chocolate roll (they bought another two in the sale) - keep eating odds and ends to stop me going out to buy chocolate and am using up the fruit bowl they have all ignored. Need to decide what I am going to take out of the freezer to use with veg that can't be eaten raw.

Written a long list of jobs (mix of creative and mundane) that I can do whilst keeping my ankle raised. Appreciating being stuck in one place as I have no distractions from the tidying. Have started several times but then have to go and do mum minding and other tasks before everything is in perfect order, things start to slip (not enough ours, not enough hands and various bits going wonky) and next thing I am back to rummaging through piles of stuff to find the things I need.

A spendy day as I did an icyland order online in the early hours - need to keep them away from takeaways as much as possible and was so pleased the website was working smoothly (shop is at the far end of the main shopping street, its just car repairs and other under the arches type businesses after that.

Today I am grateful for time to concentrate and ponder, for the properly sorted bits looking beautiful (my pills are a source of deep joy) and lovely leftovers. Oh and I found 50 pounds - I sent DS1 and DS3 their 'grandma money' from my bank to their account but had not opened DS1's card (which had the actual cash - now mine - in it).

ccl I think there are places online where you can get copies of instruction booklets - there may be a whole section somewhere in the forum (I know it's one of those things they suggest kondoing as they are easily available but it's not something I've done myself).

Today I am grateful for time with big sis + niece, for getting most of my marking finished, for getting some important paperwork completed and sent off, for buying carrots + onions from a f+v shop instead of a supermarket, for dd enjoying dance, for her friend giving her a late cmas present: an elder wand that her big brother had printed on a 3D printer (!!!), for making keto bread, for starting to dismantle Christmad, for tomorrow being the twelfth day of Christmad so we can finally eat the 12th night cake I made about 6 days ago!

Lost my nsd to £1.01 of carrots and onions today, but I supported a new family business, chose exactly what I wanted and there was no plastic involved. And I then went on to resist buying gf biscuits from the c00p - why on earth did I even go in there...?

Also swallowed some frogs, so have completed 5 now. I guess that equates to 1 per day so far!

I am feeling really positive and energised this week. Not sure if it is the long Christmas break has given me a good rest, having an EF in place/not worrying about money or having maintained a clean and tidy house since before Christmas.

DH ended up stuck at work so I have cleaned the house (except the dining room which still has Christmas decs waiting to be put away, changed sheets, done all the washing/drying and ironed while watching the 1st HP film with DS. I must be feeling positive if I've ironed as it isn't a favourite activity of mine.

I used up a mini quiche, 1 solitary hash brown and the 6 last 6 chips in the bottom of a bag for my lunch today and am still stuffed so will be giving dinner a miss.

Spend free days (NSD’s) – Aiming for 15 - 2/15 Still on 2. Thought I was going to get one today but DH decided that a couple of beers would ease his poorly throat and we picked up some really low priced YS items and the £5 freezer co-op deal. Not so good for clearing the freezer!

Make plans for the month – Nothing added to the diary

Always pay your debts first – No activity today

List your frogs – Listed the freezer contents, fixed a picture frame, paid for the green bin collection. Some of mine require spending money so I am not tackling them at the moment.

Little Savings – Found 1pm when tidying up so put it in the pig. I'm saving all my change for a big holiday in 2020 when DH and I will both be 50!

Chill out – watched a few Marie Kondo programmes on Netflix last night. Does everything not end up creased when she folds it so small?

Helping others – nothing done today

Always be grateful – Today I am grateful for:

    1) Feeling positive and happy
    2) Ice cold beer in the fridge (there goes dry January!)
    3) Keeping on top of the cleaning last week which meant that the house was cleaned in only a couple of hours today

New to You – nothing today

Get involved – Hello turtles :)

Exercise – does cleaning count? ;)

Sort it out – Finally did the list and had to throw out a couple of bits in the bottom of bags of veg that were snowballs and a bag or red onion from 2015:eek: don't know how I missed that all the other times I sorted the freezer last year or when we moved in 2016!

So inspired by your NSD count!! I am thinking of also tracking days when I do spend, but under a certain amount, say £5?
I count everything! :D I love spreadsheets, so just add it on the sheet and it works out my totals.

It was my birthday yesterday, bro gave me £15 itunes for my pokemon app. You can buy ingame money to spend on bag space and more poke-storage etc. It works out cheaper to buy 100 coins for 79p, than the bigger amounts, so I bought 19 x 100 coins & had to pay 1p of my own money to use up all the credit.
Bfs mum generously gifted me £100 to get my box for the back of my scooter, and my mum gave me some money I used towards my entry to the VR centre.
Mum also popped some scratch cards in my card, I won a whole £1! Bf also said I could have the £4 he won on a scratchie the week before.
Me & my bestie went to the cinema, but we both have vouchers (6 free tickets with Lloyds account).

Went in town today, paid in some xmas jumper charity money to the charity, paid last years piggybank takings into my account so I could pay into my savings, claimed my free birthday cookie from subway (which I gave to bf) and used my bodyshop £5 birthday voucher. My items came to £4.50 but I was happy to lose the 50p rather than have to spend my own money to use it all (which is obviously what they want you to do). So escaped town with items and a NSD.

Spend free days (NSD’s) – 4/14 NSD today.

Make plans for the month – Bf is treating me to a belated birthday lunch out on Monday (he bought me takeaway pizza for birthday tea), and we shall head to the cinema to use up my free tickets which expire at the end of the month.

Always pay your [STRIKE]debts[/STRIKE] savings first – £62.27 paid into savings today. £5 scratch card money, £10.48 piggybank money and £46.79 extra wages from last week.

List your frogs – Rang pet insurance, they could only reduce the renewal quote by £25, which didn't even match last years total. The were quoting £100 less on the comparison site if I was a new customer! So I've left them and gone with someone else who is £7 a month, rather than £25!
Had a lady round to write us up a will (paid for by bfs mum as an xmas present)
    Xmas decs came down today.

Little savings – £62.27 saved so far. My extra wages from this week will go in the pot later too.

Chill out – I managed to complete a video game! Started the next one in my pile. I'm trying to get thru my xbox 360 games, so I can then get rid of the console and just use my xbox one.

Helping others – Haven't bought anything for the boxes yet. I have cleared a box out in the storage room I will use to store the items as I get them. I'm aiming for 10 boxes, so will do 5 m and 5 f. (Will add a couple of extras in the ladies like sanitary products)

Always be grateful – On my last day at work before my hol a driver came into work. He was really upset so I took him to one side to ask what the problem was. He started crying and said his wife had just died. Of course I told him he could take as much time off as he needed.
On top of this we have had two drivers assaulted this week alone (one is a new lady driver, and the other has a fractured cheekbone), and one driver homeless over xmas as his nextdoor neighbours house caught fire & he has damage to his (just purchased) home.
So I'm just grateful to be happy, healthy, and to have a roof over my head.

New to You – Not purchased anything with my own money yet (if you ignore the penny) ! Scored a few freebies, and bought stuff with birthday money (on things it was gifted for!)

Get involved – Took me a while to catch up on the posts :D

Exercise – First day back at the gym was wednesday. I'm still sore. Have a 10k race tomorrow.

Sort it out – I'm going to go thru my cupboards tomorrow and see what I can use up in my lunches while I'm home for the week.

    Evening all :)

    Still on 1 /10 NSDs

Make plans for the month – Two more birthdays coming up  Succumbed to a coffee out with OH early this morning, having got up early to drive to neighbouring town to visit a flea market for a buying trip (never fear, this is work for me, my - very - small business involves dealing in antiques / vintage items, which I sell from a rented shop space and online) which turned out to be a waste of time, as I managed to spend only £1.50 of the money I had allocated, on a little jug :( Bought a coffee to warm and cheer us up!
Always pay your debts first – No debts, but savings standing orders will be paid on their appropriate dates
List your frogs – 2 expensive frogs tackled today, OH replaced the rotten wood on the raised veg bed (£43.58 for materials from the builders merchants, but OH did the work himself). And I made an appointment for measuring up / quotation for new carpet for lower flight of stairs, which will cost considerably more  Still on my frog list is to log into OH's and my HMRC accounts, to double check whether any more income tax is owed. I don't think it is as I paid what I think was owed back in the summer, but need to make sure before the deadline which is the end of the month! Hopefully that won't also be an expensive frog  Shouldn't be, as I am quite organised on this, if nothing else!
Little savings – Very little in this case - 6p to the tin I save 1p. 2p and 5p coins in :rotfl:
Chill out – OK today :)
Helping others – Food bank donation done for this month :)
Always be grateful – Today I am grateful for: Decent weather for OH to complete the work in the garden - just need it again tomorrow so that I can clear up after :rotfl:
New to You – Can't think of anything today
    Get involved – I am here :)
Exercise - – Just a dog walk today
Sort it out – All food from home again today :)

Spend free days (NSD’s)I'm going to aim for 20 as money is going to be pretty tight this month - still on 3/20. Got some medicine for my cold as it's not shifting at all and some more food.

Make plans for the monthI've got a couple of things planned for this month but will make sure that they are as low budget as possible - first is a catch up with the girls this week, seems like there's been a change of plans so are now going to a restaurant.

Always pay your debts firstBudget is done for January and debt payment has been made - no additional debt payments today.

List your frogsMade a start on this and will add to the list as I think of more - nothing ticked off today.

Little savings I've added a whole £2.50 to my emergency fund taking it to £9.50 :rotfl:, will continue to add as I can - nothing added today.

Chill out – Will aim to read a bit every day. I've also got a few adult colouring books which have been sitting there for ages so will aim to do some colouring in too - just about to hop into bed and read my book.

Helping others – I've set up a charity donation which will come out at the start of the month. I'll also add items to the food bank whenever I'm in the supermarket - planning a sort through of clothes at some point so will take a bag to the CS. Popped a few tins into the food bank collection today.

Always be gratefulWill post 3 gratitudes each day. - surviving night shift, medicine and OH :)

New to YouMe and OH are planning to do a huge sort though of all our stuff, there's still unopened boxes from when we moved in, who knows what treasures we might find ;) - no progress on this today.

Get involvedI always struggle with daily posting but will try this month - I'm here :D

ExerciseI really need to get back into exercising regularly. I got some vouchers for Christmas to get more running shoes so that will be my first step - no exercise today.

Sort it out I don't really have anything in the cupboards lurking that doesn't get used except spices but will aim to use up some of them - nothing used today.
