Hi all:j
NSDs – Aiming for 10 as am going away on 22nd for a few days (Christmas treat) : Now 7/ 10
Make plans for the month – Planned visit to Barcelona later in the month. Rail ticket & plane already paid for. Out for lunch tomorrow planned expenditure.
Always pay your debts first – No debts but do use a cc which is paid in full every month...need to rein this in, spending has been frightful of late..CC paid off in full, now need to make sure it doesn't rack up to those levels this month. No spends today.Going to restart PAD payments to try & get cc balance down.
[
List your frogs – Started another very large frog this week, but am pleased with progress. (Clearing bedroom). During this also found a brand new sealed cover for the sofa bed promised to DD (could be 2 items out of the house!!) and also a brand new fitted jersey sheet....treasure. Sofa bed & cover gone to DDs house & installed there, very happy with that. May also get rid of 2 chairs that her housemates mum admired, tbc. Housemates mum wants chairs so second one leaving our house tomorrow...win win.
Little Savings – Put in a £2 coin that I had in my change the other day, will get cash out & pay in to bank. Joined 1p challenge..Will add to moneybox tonight. Also have some money in TCB, meant to access for Christmas but didn't so it should have mounted up. Need to work out how to withdraw it to obtain max benefit. Tomorrow for this. Still not done...
Chill out – working on this. One of my frogs is to start doing some complex knitting...as I am supposed to be doing a 'knitalong'. So far have not even started. Pressure on knitalong as second section now posted online, have not even done tension square yet. hmm. Chilling out today with friends' visit & having a catch up re the holidays. Got out box of complex knitalong & looked at pattern. Frightening..
Helping others – nothing today, unless you count helping friend. Not today
Always be grateful – Grateful for today:
- relatively good health
- freedom to go outside & garden
- progress on packing up stuff & labelling boxes
New to You – Have more than enough of pretty much everything clothes wise etc but still looking online, forced self not to purchase. Have told DH no clothes handbags or shoe purchases this year....he said he is the same Lets see if we stick to it! Still sticking to it, fairly well. Was very tempted last night to order yet more boots - didn't purchase in the end, but only because my card got declined:D
Get involved – I'm here!
Exercise – Out into garden & did a lot of pruning, which is all the stuff done nearest the house, at the back. Then dragged all the branches to the rough area at the bottom of the garden.
Sort it out – Need to do this & will be eating from stuffed freezers & cupboards for January. Ate something from freezer for supper & made do with stuff in fridge for lunch. DH helped with jammed freezer drawers - it was on his list...caused by me going into unlit garage & fighting off 2 dogs whilst removing/adding stuff to upright freezer, then quickly shutting door. Not easy..But now have inventory of that freezer other than top drawer, amazing amount of food it holds!! Still eating from stocks but will be minimal shopping tomorrow for fresh stuff. Just bought a small amount of fresh food, couple of YS items & vits. No sorting today yet but may do some before bed. Didn't do yesterday but will today.
GO Turtles!!!!New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Morning all! New cooker was delivered yesterday and DH installed it (saving a fee). Works really well and SHINY. For now!
Frogs: finally went to the de rust for a check up on Wed, was a spend day with the grocery run so just added the fee to the total. Bad news is that I have a slightly dodgy crown that will need work, plus I need a hygienist visit. I can fund the hygienist but have opted to put off the crown work for now as it's 200 odd quid I do not have at the moment! The tooth isn't bothering me and I'm happy to keep an eye on it. But there are never ending spends this month - latest is a slow leak in the bathroom that DH will investigate at the weekend. My main priority this month will be to protect my fledging EF for as long as possible!
NSDs - no spends planned for today so should be 5/10.
More frogs - I have had one routine checkup but I need to schedule two more. Ate a big part of a work frog yesterday and will do more today.
Gratitudes: I am grateful for my warm and fluffy dressing gown, for finishing a pair of slippers for a friend (they are fluffy AND sparkly) and for discovering enough leftover yarn for another pair of socks.0 -

Morning turtles,
Spend free days (NSD’s) – Today is 8/17
Always be grateful;
- My aunt - she's been kindly looking after my dad since I've moved down south
- My car - it's been a great wee car, with no problems (so far). I've a long journey home tomorrow and so I hope it stays that way.
- My new friends at football
- My book that I'm reading
No spends planned today so I should smash another one!!0 -
Hello!
Been feeling pretty rough for the past couple of days but here's my update.
Spend free days (NSD’s) –Still at 4/10. Spends have been relatively low i.e lozenges for my throat and cans of soup.
Chill out – Reading on my commutes or practising a mindful meditation seem to be my main ways of doing this.
Always pay your debts first £32.66 Direct Debit payment has come out.
Always be grateful – I'm grateful for:
1. My bed
2. The fact that it's Friday
3. Reaching my goal of exercising 3 times in a week
Exercise – Went to the gym twice this week and also did a short lunchtime run with a colleague.[STRIKE]£799 - FD Personal Loan[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£500/ £500 FD Overdraft[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£5700/£5700 MBNA credit card[/STRIKE]:beer:0 -
Hello, creeping in as I have not been posting - my usual state of affairs, although I have been reading along. I think 'WELL DONE' to all the turtles is in order. You are doing fantastically well. Lots of hugs to all who need some.
I am still in a fairly upbeat mind set. There has been some blips such as my brother saying he wanted to pay for mums' xmas eve meal, then querying what she had spent on food and drink £44 [it was an expensive absolutely fantastic restaurant for a 40th birthday, dd3] and then refusing to pay £10 for taxis, no public transport, no parking close to restaurant. So I had to climb the ladder in my brain and lock away the feelings this generated in my big box up there. New Years Day saw dd2 having a hissy fit over the presents she received from dd1. Completely spoilt the day, so up the ladder again.
I buy frequently for food etc so am pleased I have 3/11 NSD's. We only have a small fridge freezer and if it is stuffed the fridge tends to freeze things.
I have been using up what we have in and waste has been negligible. Also spent less this week.
My challenges are going well:
1 Not playing computer games as I feel I am becoming addicted, so far 11/11 days not played.
2 Not buying anything this month that isn't a necessity eg magazines, chocolate etc, 11/11 days
3 Trying not to eat more than one kitkat per day, doing ok.
Healthwise not great but trying hard to keep going.
Still doing my 1000 day challenge of decluttering and my bedroom is nearly there, Have ordered Marie Kondo 'spark joy' from the library. Watched her series on Netflix and she makes me feel calm every time I see her. Lots of things have moved to c/s and local tip.
My gratitudes for today
Managing to keep to my challenges
Watching the colourful birds on my garden feeders
That I am more positive in my outlook
That my savings pots are doing well
My 5 year old grandson saying he loves me
Will try to post more often but I am always around
xxDottyNSD 1/3,
My mantra is After I ....I will. eg After I make my morning coffee, I will take my medication. Eventually this will become a habit,0 -
Hi all.
Yesterday was a spendy day, I booked and paid for my kids and DS's friend to go to a trampoline park tomorrow as a sort of belated birthday treat for DS, that was £30. Also bought a £30 candle for £3 in a charity shop (brand new obviously and in a lovely box), I was in the CS looking for a dresser for my kitchen but ended up getting one on ebay for £65 which I will be collecting on Sunday. We plan on chalk painting it which I am excited about.
Back to work today so no spending except on bus fares but I don't count that as I take all the cash out for that at the beginning of the month. Was paid aswell but not much as I only worked one day last week.
Pizza for tea tonight, DH and the kids are having one from the supermarket but I have defrosted some of my dough I made last week so I will see if it turns out better than last week as I've put it on a non stick tray rather than the dreadful stone.
Made a thai carrot and sweet potato soup yesterday and took a portion for lunch today and froze the rest. Also used my mini chopper for the first time to make energy balls, it did the job well so I'm glad I didn't splash out on a food processor.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Evening all :hello:
Very pleased to have survived the first week back at school relatively unscathed but I am absolutely exhausted tonight. I suspect I'll be asleep in the next hour or two with my rock and roll lifestyle.
No money to spend so another nsd, and I had a fishfinger sandwich for tea which was amazing. Found 20p on the floor at school which has gone into my daily savings pot.
Swallowed two massive frogs by sorting out both car and cat insurance tonight - both through cashback sites and with a multipet discount as well.
Can't believe that there are still another 3 weeks until payday! Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Today I am grateful for finding that we had another bottle of fizzy water, for dd having a great day, for only buying what I went for in sainz + icyland + aldee, for getting a workout done, for coffee with a good friend, for posting off the kids parcels to Canada and Oz, for sending off some paperwork, for swallowing some frogs, for plenty of walking.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
