Not sure where to ask this but thought there are some knowledgeable people on this thread: When calculating 'mortgage neutral' do you include your existing equity? I feel like I shouldn't but not sure.

    I don't include my equity.

    I don't.
Mine is the cash I have available.

I agree - I calculate savings vs mortgage balance.

When I had more in savings than I had owing on my mortgage, I classed myself as mortgage neutral ;)

Apologies for not reporting in for a wee while! Things have been a little manic although the overpayments have continued, maybe not as much as I would have liked though!

Noticed that I may have missed a little overpayment reporting in March...

    March: 272.30
    April: 0
    May: 1200.00
    June: 0
    July: 625.00
    August: 1000

To be fair, August kinda scunnered me but we've managed! :-)

Thanks and apologies again for being missing in action. Will try to do better!

Another £75.56 OP today, which in addition to the £58.51 automatic OP and the earlier chunk of £200 give me an August OP total of £334.07, if my maths is right, which it may not be.

September is holiday month so finances may be affected though most of the spending is accounted for in a separate savings account. Pay should come through on Friday, though, so I'm hoping another £200 can go out then towards September's goal. (Paying myself first, as the chap in the book said - though it isn't just mortgage OPs that go out as soon as possible!)

Payday so another OP made! :D £581.12 OP'd before work this morning which (along with a small OP of £5.32 last week) which brings me to...

#51 £1037.99 in total paid off for Aug!
ie £1037.99 / £1997.77 in total for my 2nd part of the year

As this was over £500 it will trigger a mortgage recalculation (reducing the term). If my spreadsheet is right my mortgage will now end Oct 2025 (down from Feb 2027 at the end of July). I've got just under £5k (£4959.78) to go as of the end of Aug. My mortgage interest is now a whopping 37p a day! :j
    Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
