    It's official! After 10 months of hassle I finally completed today and now owe the bank £369,000!!!

    Time to make a very small start on it!

    Wow on many levels, the length of the time it's taken and the size of it. I imagine though, even a tiny overpayment will actually make a big difference over the long term. Cheering you on woop woop.

    Wish.

    Hi all! I’ve not updated in ages....super sorry!

    So my updates are;

    May: £49.80
    June: £29.69
    July: £186.19
    August (so far): £285.31

    Which takes us to a nice £2685.20.

    Still a little while to get to our yearly target but the overpayments haven increased after having to slow down and rebuild the cat savings pot after Oscars eye surgery! (Oscar is back to normal and happily chasing the local wildlife!)
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
    New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

    Can I add £50 to my August total please, taking it to £350 for the month. Not as much as I'd planned to overpay but we've had both cars die on us completely in the last two months so buying another car needed to be priority this month.

    Not sure where to ask this but thought there are some knowledgeable people on this thread: When calculating 'mortgage neutral' do you include your existing equity? I feel like I shouldn't but not sure.

    I don't.
    Mine is the cash I have available.

    Currently I have approx £25k outstanding on the mortgage and £10k in cash savings (not including money put aside for annual bills, car maintenance etc) so that's a net value of -£15k. My ynab net worth is nearer -£10k as it includes all the money assigned to different jobs.

    But, if I needed too, I could only really pay the £10k to the mortgage, the other £5k isn't 'savings'.
