Back home from dropping DD at her student flat - so spent on bridge toll, lunch for the 5 of us (<£10, as just grabbed 'bakes/ sausage rolls from Gregg5 and then something sweet from Te5c0) Also nipped to Te5c0 at home this morning for fuel and a few food bits (rolls, eggs, lettuce, veggies for g-pigs) Weather was horrid in Wales and rain has been constant here (although not as heavy and lacking the wind strength) Have damp washing draped around kitchen - will probably stick it in dryer for 40mins later, sadly, as weather is meant to be wet again tomorrow....

Invest in myself - planning an evening on the sofa with Casualty :)

  • NSD 13/20. I won't reach my target as we are off on Friday but, at least the budgets are but ok.

We went into the city centre as himself wanted some things for our holiday but they have come out of his personal spends.

I ate a huge frog today. My ex sister in law has been in touch asking me and Himself to a party for her (new) husband's 70th birthday. I haven't spoken to her in nearly 20 years (don't know her new husband). My split with her brother was difficult in the extreme although we tolerate one another for the sake of our son. Actually, that's not quite true. I feel sorry for him. His family were really awful to me and my son at the time of the split. But I had been good friends with her before my marriage. I've declined the invitation, said I regret how things have worked out between us and asked her for an email address so we can keep in touch. Apparently she now had a very debilitating illness and has offered to give my son her sports car (he has said he may buy it but will not take it for nothing). Is she regretting what has happened and trying to make amends? Am I wrong in thinking that life is too short and trying to make the peace? I really don't want to get involved with the family again but I think it must have taken something for her to get in touch. What do you think?
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Coxy - Sending hugs to you and your family. A difficult time for you all.
Set your budgets now. Have done this. Food budget has gone over. Think I only need to get bread and potatoes now, probably next week.
    Use up. Done this today.
NSDs – 16/20 Was a spend day. Food top up, tv mag and oyster card top up.
Spread some sunshine – Gave a badge for today's walk to a grandmother for her 18 month old granddaughter who also came on the walk, as she did not pick one up at the park in London.
Healthy eating – Need to be more mindful with what I am eating. Did have a treat today.
Invest in yourself. Did wordsearch, mindfulness colouring and watching a film this evening.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. Try to find free activities to do. The walk for wildlife was a free event in London. Brought my own lunch, water and a flask of tea.
Exercise - Did the walk for wildlife today. I think it was a couple of miles.

  • Today I am grateful for being home, for mum's new teeth, for a lovely chat both with the young girl who sat next to me on the train and with a homeless chap I often see, for my knitting, for big sis + niece sleeping here tonight, for 85% choc.

Coxy really sorry to hear about your pup, it's never easy to lose a family member, but it sounds like you're doing the right thing. There is a saying "better a week too soon than a day too late", your pup knows how loved he is.

Lazy day today, had a rubbish night's sleep despite the late night, did some studying, cleaning and some other jobs in the house, then fell asleep for a few hours this afternoon so feels like a bit of a wasted day although it is raining here so not much I could do outdoors.

I put a bid in on a winter coat on fleabay and won it so not a NSD, but at least I ticked that off the list, I didn't have any smart work coats. Plenty of horse riding coats but none for work - clearly have my priorities wrong! :rotfl:

Kitchen tap is still broken, I wanted to call a plumber to do it but OH insists on doing it himself, but that means doing it at his pace so God knows when it will actually be fixed... Men eh!

Coxy- massive massive hugs. Whatever you do, you do out of love, so that simply cannot be wrong. Ever. I'm so sorry.

Toni's friend - it may be that her illness has made her want to make amends. But she might just be missing the friendship you had and she lost.
It's your call, only you know if you have the energy for it.

Well, today ended up as a unexpected NSD - NSD 13
Went to House of Swede, DH drove, paid, and refused reimbursement!
Got ALL the bits to finish the top floor.

Totally wiped out though. Stupid cold.

All food from stores, freezer nearly empty, needs defrosting (hopefully tomorrow).
Need to build the furniture bits, and bake stuff tomorrow for lunch boxes on Monday. Monday will be a spend day. Will need to restock the freezer and fridge, it is looking wonderfully bare in there right now.

    Hi all:j

Continuing big hugs to all the poorlies, hope you are soon better!
    [/B]
So sorry to hear of your predicament
Coxy. All you can think is that you gave the dog the best care & a lovely life with you. A lot of animals don't have that. Hugs to all the family.

Had a very poor night's sleep, not something I have very often these days - but meant all today was a bit of a write off. Shame as I planned to do quite a lot. Did send parcel back though as DH was going to PO (no spend as free returns).

Set your budgets now. Pay to your debts/savings first and live off the rest. Make sure you're on the best deals for utilities, phones, broadband, etc. Are there any areas in your budget that you could cut down on? Will go through budget again & see where savings could be made. Will cancel DD dentist subscription if she doesn't want to go, it's a waste of money otherwise.

Use up. Have a look through your cupboards and identify any food that's been lurking there for a while and incorporate it into a meal plan. Likewise toiletries, any half opened bottles - use before opening/buying more. Lunch & supper from stores, using up half a large pork fillet & CB to make a kind of Chinese couple of dishes, plus rice. Enough left for a lunch portion.

NSDs - there are 30 days in September so a minimum of 15 or 20 for a harder challenge. Usual exemptions for ys items, petrol and medical expenses. Now 10/15 - finally double figures!!

Spread some sunshine - be kind to others, help out friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Share your tales of any random acts of kindness. Sent email but was very polite.

    Healthy
eating - up your fruit and veg intake, quit snacking between meals or choose healthier options. Healthier snacks today.

Invest in yourself. Make sure you take the time to do things that you enjoy. Try something new that you've always wanted to do. Not much time to enjoy stuff today, tomorrow will be different!!

No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. No takeaways today.

Try to find free activities to do. Will do.

Exercise - it won't be long before the darker nights start drawing in so make the most of it while you can. Get outdoors for walk/run/cycle even if only for 10 minutes. None today sadly, but still out with pooches for 10 mins & gave poorly girlie another brush, my goodness she never stops moulting.
    Go Turtles!!
New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear
  • Morning all :coffee:
Lots of love to you and the family Coxy - hope that you're as ok as can be.
Also thinking of all of you that are a bit under the weather, or in need of a break.
My busy life continues - as does my complete insomnia. I've already been up for 3 hours :rotfl: However, I'm hoping that after the man has been to fix my tellybox this morning I will once again be able to sleep all night and shut my anxious mind up when it starts at 4am.
I'm still struggling a bit emotionally but I am determined to have a day off today and just relax as much as I can. I got all of the shopping done yesterday, fuelled the car, did my tutoring so in theory today is entirely my own. So I can even nap during the day if I need to. As I say, I'm just looking forward to having my tellybox fixed. :D

Yay! to your tellybox CCL, hope your man is early and fast (another odd blessing)

Had a whole hour extra in bed. So got up just before 7.
    Why??? because I was awake.

Not going to force the kids to parkrun this morning as it is wet here, and it looks to be getting wetter.

Will bake, and make as much as I can for lunchboxes and after school snacks, eat all the food in the fridge and freezer, build the Swedish furniture and make a nice pile of stuff to go to the tip for recycling.

Already cut the ticking off the single mattress, so the ticking went in the bin (smelly) and the springs are going off to the metal skip at the tip. When I can be bothered to load up DH's skip on wheels (14 yr old 7 seater renault)

Misheard the radio and my brain managed to put Beyonce in a boxing match with Tyson Fury (it should have been Deontay Wilder). Still makes me chuckle, I love my ears sometimes. Parallel universe inside my head.

Very strange dreams the last two nights - one involved a general election cheese scandal, and the other involved my neighbours forming an orderly queue to list in detail all my failings as a mother! Blimey it went on for ages. Then from nowhere Ed Balls turns up and proposes with a ring made from a scrabble tile. It wasn't even my initial, or his, so there you go. - I said no, in case you were wondering - didn't want to leave you on a cliff hanger.

Lots of rubbish going on inside my head right now. Best place for it probably!

Tea, then I shall hoist my mighty Allan key aloft and scale the stairs to the
    top floor.

    Coxy - thinking of you.

Toni'sFriend - if you were good friends at one time it might be good for you but be honest and tell her you don't want to be involved with the rest of the family.
