  • Can't believe it's the end of September already! Today won't be a nsd as I frustratingly forgot to buy sugar that I need yesterday so I'll get that when I go out today. I'm tutoring then visiting my mam. Thanks for your kind words Coxy - there are quite a few of us on here that are teachers.
Speaking of teaching - I need to plan my week ahead - still haven't done it, so that is added to the list as well.
Thanks for running September misstara - see you all in October!
  • Thank you misstara for September :D.

I managed 19 NSDs which I'm very happy with. Exercise fell away when I got a lingering virus just a week into the month (and then food poisoning a couple of days ago ), but I've managed to keep on with eating fairly well (or hardly at all for the last couple of days!). September has been quite a mellow month.

Now to go penny pinching and seeking gobstoppers in October...

misstara - Thanks for running the challenge.
Set your budgets now. Have done this.
NSDs – 20/20 Was a spend day. Paid for swimming.
Spread some sunshine – Let someone use my mobile to make a quick phonecall to his mum.
Healthy eating – Need to be more mindful with what I am eating. Was ok today.
Invest in yourself. Did wordsearch, mindfulness colouring, read some of a book.6th day of not playing computer games.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. Try to find free activities to do. Went to a free local event and brought a flask of tea with me.
Exercise - Went swimming and walked to and from the local event.

    Hi all:j

Checking in for the last time for September - than you MissTara for running the thread!! No more NSDs to report as Sat/Sun both spendy days. Sat was DHs birthday so spent on meal, today was Yarndale so spent to go to that ….and whilst there too. But I did pack up for DH & myself, so no need to buy food whilst out. Not much saving, but heyho every little as they say..

Set your budgets now. Pay to your debts/savings first and live off the rest. Make sure you're on the best deals for utilities, phones, broadband, etc. Are there any areas in your budget that you could cut down on? Budget needs an overhaul, by crikey. Going away in Nov so need to cut back elsewhere.

Use up. Have a look through your cupboards and identify any food that's been lurking there for a while and incorporate it into a meal plan. Likewise toiletries, any half opened bottles - use before opening/buying more. Lunch was packup made by me, supper roast chicken with HM chips & ys sweetcorn. Cat removed some of DHs frozen chips from tray & chewed them. To add insult to injury, he then sat & licked his lips in front of him. I had to make extra HM chips for him (DH, not the cat).

NSDs - there are 30 days in September so a minimum of 15 or 20 for a harder challenge. Usual exemptions for ys items, petrol and medical expenses. Final total 12/15, not great.

Spread some sunshine - be kind to others, help out friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Share your tales of any random acts of kindness. Got dropped off by DH at Yarndale, he went off to amuse himself elsewhere. I then realised I hadn't my phone with me, so no way of communicating with him..a lovely lady I was buying a book from lent me her phone but couldn't phone him as I didn't know his number, only my own. Rang it, only to be told that 'this phone will not accept call from this number'. Tried twice, same result. Lady whose phone it was then asked if I knew my own number, obvs now realising I was a complete nutter. Then heard on tannoy system my name....aargh. DH had come back, got himself in the venue & the lovely people helped him find me...I did have to then go back to my original phone donor...just to prove it WAS my number...it was. Puzzled she rang it, it worked....aaargh. Weird or what

Invest in yourself. Make sure you take the time to do things that you enjoy. Try something new that you've always wanted to do. Still more to do, but pleased with progress. Did all wall painting Sat, some actual gardening. Went to Yarndale, did enjoy it.

No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. No takeaways today - but one yesterday for DH birthday treat.

Try to find free activities to do. Will do.

Exercise - it won't be long before the darker nights start drawing in so make the most of it while you can. Get outdoors for walk/run/cycle even if only for 10 minutes. Loads of walking today!

See you all on the Gobstopper thread!!

Thanks for the challenge misstara. Did not do very well but I did go on a plane for the first time to go to DS1's wedding. Think it's taken me a while to get out of 'party mode' especially as we had the bbq reception at their home last week. I paid for the mini bus (mum offered to go halves) but it was worth it to have all 3 of my sons in the same room for the first time in over 10 years and no fighting.

Today I am grateful for getting things done (managed to stay on my feet for long enough to tackle the washing up), for not needing to be anywhere/ do anything specific and for my embroidery progressing satisfactorily.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Thank you Misstara for the September thread :). Managed 12/15 NSDs, must do better!

We had a nice quiet weekend, did some crafts with the boys and they finished their homework without a fight . Eldest went out with friends and no parentals for the first time and was fine. Need to review pocket money as the few pounds they get for treats is starting to not cover what they want. Not sure what is usual for a 10 and 12 yo. Must do some checking.

See you all on the other side fellow gobstoppers :rotfl:
