Another NSD bagged today. Work was busy again, a real treat! The place is just becoming a bit of a joke though, I can't wait to leave even though it means leaving some fab colleagues behind. Went to a free lecture at a local uni after work which was interesting.

Think I will have a bet bill tomorrow :( noticed one of my house buns isn't right, going to take him in for a check up to be sure. Best case he's fine and I've wasted £30, worst case is dental treatment needed and I'm down about £200...

On the positive side, OH started messing around with the tap tonight and has taken it apart. I think he's figured out how to replace it. Obviously it'll take a hell of a lot longer than a plumber would as he works at a snail's pace but I'll take it as a win if he can do it at all!

Should be able to see my payslip for October tomorrow. I just scraped through September so MUST do better next month.

    Hi all:j

Here again & without another NSD as had to buy supplies for visitors lunch, we are about halfway to their destination so they call here & have lunch with us. Mountains of housework to do before they come as they are nonpet owners. Still it is good to see them - although they arrived early:eek: I thought they had decided never to do that again after the last time they did & found us still trying to put up curtains in the front window:rotfl: This was many years ago though & they've probably forgotten...

Set your budgets now. Pay to your debts/savings first and live off the rest. Make sure you're on the best deals for utilities, phones, broadband, etc. Are there any areas in your budget that you could cut down on? Will go through budget again & see where savings could be made. DD catch up tomorrow, as she is still out in Manc atm.

Use up. Have a look through your cupboards and identify any food that's been lurking there for a while and incorporate it into a meal plan. Likewise toiletries, any half opened bottles - use before opening/buying more. Lunch was eaten with relatives, did use up some flavoured icing sugar in the cake I made & also some jam. Not sure if it'll be a keeper though..Supper was YS items & DH had leftover pizza plus YS salads.

NSDs - there are 30 days in September so a minimum of 15 or 20 for a harder challenge. Usual exemptions for ys items, petrol and medical expenses. Still 11/15

Spread some sunshine - be kind to others, help out friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Share your tales of any random acts of kindness. Uncle very pleased to get a gift sent, will email to tell them address & time to send. I think its' only going to be a tin of shortbread, but heyho..

Healthy eating - up your fruit and veg intake, quit snacking between meals or choose healthier options. Not today either.

Invest in yourself. Make sure you take the time to do things that you enjoy. Try something new that you've always wanted to do. Spruced self up after housework, in honour of visitors.

No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. No takeaways today.

Try to find free activities to do. Will do.

Exercise - it won't be long before the darker nights start drawing in so make the most of it while you can. Get outdoors for walk/run/cycle even if only for 10 minutes. Out with pooches for 10 mins, poorly girl to vets. He was happy with progress - I think - but temp still elevated. More antibiotics needed. Although |I think the improvement is dramatic; he is still keeping an eye on her.

    Go Turtles!!

  • CCL: is it pills or liquid? My slightly dopey cat can be fooled by the Easypill paste the vet sells, or a bit of cheese. Yours may be more canny though.

Good news: my train refund cane through, so I added a bit to my fun money pot to account for extra sieves, but didn't treat all of it as extra spending money. A tenner has therefore gone into the buffer pot.

Bad news: according to HMRC I underpaid tax last year and they need to claw it back. It isn't much and it can come from my monthly deductions but still :grr:

Another sunny day here so will crack on with the washing :)

My October budgets start today. Came in under budget for September somehow and had £62 extra to transfer to savings.

  • NSD 17/20. That's me for this month. Didn't quite achieve my goal but not too bad.

My plans were once again scuppered by the weather. I was hoping to wash throws and cushion covers but it's been grey and wet so no chance of drying them. They'll just have to wait until I get back now. Himself did go out with his friend today so I've managed to get a lot of other things done. He's promised to help with a quick hoover and dust tomorrow. Few things to do in town tomorrow (get actual money, etc) but I feel really quite organised for once.

My Ipad and Iphone are still playing up and I can't log in to post but I'll be following from the sidelines.

    See you all in November.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Well, if no-one has volunteered for October yet, I might. I know I've been AWOL a lot this month again but need some extra accountability in October and running that month might help :).

Glenda - it's medicine. Tuxy came back last night and ate the lot. I have successfully repeated medicine time this evening with mackerel fillets so the vet was right (again). As I can get the fish for 36p a tin and it will last a few days I will consider that a small price to pay to get my friend back.
Another mad busy day - non stop between 8am and 5pm. NSD, but very tired now - just searching around for a new box set to watch as I have nothing on the go at the moment. Everything was wiped off my old box and I can't remember all of the stuff I had on there.
