Set your budgets now. Have done this.
NSDs – 19/20 Was a spend day. Had to get copies of some photos, postage, tv mag, a scrub and metal tin to put the scrub in, potatoes and some cake. Had some used envelopes that I posted things today, so saved some money there. Also got tickets for a play and a festive show at a local theatre.
Spread some sunshine – Finally had photos copied of my Mum when she was young and some when she was a nun and sent them to her brother in Ireland. Also sent a copy of what my brother read at Mum's funeral. Also sent my brother, niece and nephew something that they might be interested in.
Healthy eating – Need to be more mindful with what I am eating. Did have some lovely cake that I brought - thought I deserved it after finally doing something I have been putting off for a while.
Invest in yourself. Did wordsearch, mindfulness colouring, read some of a book. 4th day of not playing computer games. Catching up with some programmes I recorded. The book that I ordered came early this morning. On a mission to do self-care as from Monday with a self-care journal and tiny love challenges.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. Try to find free activities to do.
Exercise - Did plenty of walking doing my errands.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -
Hi everyone,
It’s the weekend tomorrow! Yippee! Sorry for those having to work or do prep for work (CCL – I take my hat off to all teachers, don’t know how you do it x).
Craft group last night was a bit light – only three of us, but I managed to help someone start crocheting a panda(!) and almost knitted another poppy. This will be my last as I have so many other things I want to do.
Updates as follows:
S – Payday for me and got a lot more than I was expecting as my tax is all wrong . Will go on to HMRC this weekend to investigate.
U – Last portion of SW cottage pie for lunch and I forgot the Worcestershire sauce. Managed to get through it though!
N – 10/15 – No spends today
S – Helping at a fundraising concert at church tonight. I will serve the teas and coffees during the interval.
H – All good today.
I – Started a new book last night – enjoying it so far. Meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow morning then DD needs her nails filling – she has always bitten her nails so went for acrylics and they are great and she has really looked after them. Off to a quiz night for Mind tomorrow.
N – None this month yet and none planned.
E – Didn’t manage to get out at lunchtime unfortunately. Not because I’m too busy but boss was about and I need to be seen to be here, even if I’ve got nowt to do – bit ridiculous.
Hope you all had a good day,

NSD 16 done.
Waiting for the money to come in, and the bills to go out this weekend.
Will they go out on the right day, or will they all wait until Monday, but you have to keep money back just in case they do go out before the other money comes in.
So annoying that computerised systems still do not work on weekends.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Feeling good but still very wobbly. Managed to make it to the top end of the high street to Icyland, bulk bought toilet rolls and water (4 bottles) + small amounts of frozen, fridge and cupboard items to use with things I have in and a loaf and tomatoes for mum.
Used more or less all my budget but have a stock of some things (toilet rolls are the start of Christmas stock up). All other bits were bought as I worked my way back to home - cake from a MacMillans stall, meal deal so I could eat my sandwich whilst waiting for mum and have a drink during the afternoon film, jigsaw from charity shop. Got off lightly because the Big Issue seller and another collector had gone by the time I was coming back.
Met mum and went to the afternoon film, then walked her round to the taxi office. Had a little nap after the food arrived but still felt sick and dizzy so decided against going to the evening film. Just started gathering bits of rubbish but will be tackling the house tomorrow - how much gets done depends on how I am (I need to work out a cleaning strategy for bad times, so this will be practice).
Today I am grateful for a cool but sunny day (shadows are a lot longer), for an excellent film and the wonderful film club (just won yet another award) and my bed for it's endless support. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all:j
Was able to get a few things done today but horribly frustrated by energy companies, no wonder people don't switch, it's been a nightmare so far & still not completed...
Set your budgets now. Pay to your debts/savings first and live off the rest. Make sure you're on the best deals for utilities, phones, broadband, etc. Are there any areas in your budget that you could cut down on? Will go through budget again & see where savings could be made. Had a yearly bank statement today, need to go through & check charges as they look quite high.
Use up. Have a look through your cupboards and identify any food that's been lurking there for a while and incorporate it into a meal plan. Likewise toiletries, any half opened bottles - use before opening/buying more. Lunch was leftovers for DH & scrambled egg on toast for me, supper 2 x YS fish & chips from MnS. OK for £1.30, but not worth more..
NSDs - there are 30 days in September so a minimum of 15 or 20 for a harder challenge. Usual exemptions for ys items, petrol and medical expenses. Now 12/15
Spread some sunshine - be kind to others, help out friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Share your tales of any random acts of kindness. Refrained from biting off DH's head, although really wanted to.
Invest in yourself. Make sure you take the time to do things that you enjoy. Try something new that you've always wanted to do. Finally got outside & painted some more of small wall. Still more to do, but pleased with progress. More tomorrow, and hopefully will include some actual gardening.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. No takeaways today - but another tomorrow for DH birthday treat.
Try to find free activities to do. Will do.
Exercise - it won't be long before the darker nights start drawing in so make the most of it while you can. Get outdoors for walk/run/cycle even if only for 10 minutes. Outside painting wall for about an hour. Fresh air and exercise!

Pay day yesterday for both OH and myself. I moved my invigilating pay to the mortgage
Also got our expenses (I rarely get expenses, but had quite a lot to claim) I've paid all my CCs and am actually in credit on one by £25 (refund after I'd paid the bill) so may use that at the smkt (must remember - it's a CC I don't often use) OH hasn't paid his CC yet, which is apparently huge - it's got several lots of fuel on ay between 70-80 each, a car mot/ service at 550 and other spending...… I'd like him to pay it today so I can see how much is left over and shuffle anything around as needed
OH and I had a takeaway last night - @ under £20 and with some leftovers for today, that wasn't bad - and well within our social budget for the month (we didn't spend on a meal before the 2 eldest went to uni - my mum came and insisted on paying for us all, so we saved quite a bit there) We both really enjoyed it - it was from a 'nice' local Chinese, and we haven't had one from there in ages. Was really lovely
I also bought a couple of Xmas presents yesterday from flebay - just small things, but a start (and went through tcb)
Today we had planned to get up and go to the farmers market (award winning) in the next town - lovely chilled vibe there and OH is always super relaxed. Planned on purchasing a lovely (apparently - I can't eat steak) steak pie for dinner tomorrow and have a mooch around the other stalls - perhaps some veggies and check out craft-y ones for poss Xmas things. However, it's already gone 9am and only DS3 and myself are up (and I need to get showered) after a long week. I have a feeling it will end up being next week.....
Have a lovely weekend, turtles - whatever you may all be up to

NSDs – 20/20 Was an NSD today.
Spread some sunshine – Spoke to a lady at the Park Run this morning on the way out of the park. Nice chat.
Healthy eating – Need to be more mindful with what I am eating. Had cake again today.
Invest in yourself. Did wordsearch, mindfulness colouring, read some of a book. 5th day of not playing computer games. Watched a couple of films on telly.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. Try to find free activities to do. Went to the Park Run.

Final day of the month is here!
Thankful for another lovely day for weather yesterday, OH starting some DIY, finding a reward voucher for £12 at Debnums that had been missing (valid until 31/12, so worst case scenario is that I can use it to by Xmas foody stuff if I can't find anything better to buy with it), yummy leftovers for tea, discovering an amazing bottle of wine (which we've had sat in the garage for over a year!), and knowing that we have another identical one left!
Today I need to make a small repair to DS2's blazer and do a lot of ironing. When OH gets up I also want to strip/ remake our bed and get that washed and out (weather is looking good today but starts to get changeable in the week)
Didn't get to farmers market so Dinner should be some roast beef already sliced and in freezer but I will need some veggies to go with it. However, am sure the g-pigs will happily eat the rest of the cabbage and carrots I plan on buying
See you on the new thread. Thanks misstara for this one! :T
