Oh Sashanut just embrace the bake off!

But don't do the same for the Sunday repeat. That would be madness.

    Happy Wednesday Turtles.
Going to do the next loads of laundry todayas it is supposed to be windy but tomorrow is supposed to be wet all day. It will save putting the drier on.

    Today WILL be NSD 11

coxy - I would rather be busy at work too, the days just creep by otherwise.

lcc86 - I worked from home for 8 years until this year, I really enjoyed the solitude though but I do understand that it can be lonely. I started a new job last week (temping) and I'm finding that the other staff want to chat a lot so it's hard to concentrate on learning a new role but obviously I don't want to alienate them.

My plans were scuppered by the weather. Himself decided not to go out. Good call. It's horrendous. The wee ones' trampoline, swing etc blew away and we had to retrieve them in gales and pouring rain. Himself's friends decided they would still go out. I suspect they are stranded in the city centre as all the trains are off and apparently the buses are severely disrupted. I think they could be in for a long, windy, wet walk home.

I did resort to plan B but didn't get nearly as much done as I would have liked. Had to bring all my plants indoors so at least they are all now pruned, tidied etc.

It's still really wet and windy. It's at times like this I'm glad the freezer is full.

Hope the weather is better where you are. Take care, everyone.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Urgh, Toni's friend - weather sounds grim there. I think we're getting a bit of that tomorrow - today has just been very windy with occasional spitty bits of rain in the wind - so I still managed to get a small load of washing dry! (I used the strongest pegs I have!!) :D

Shopping at several smkts today. No big spends at any, just needed different things from each one. Still need to do farmf00ds but hit a wall energy wise and now my throat is sore and feels like it's closing up. Lemon juice and honey in hot water, with Streps1ls it is, then!

Pretty much sorted for eldest son's departure on Fri. Will buy things like eggs and bananas when we get there so they don't have to manage the journey! Baked him some breakfast type bars today (sort of flapjacks - honey, lots of sunflower and pumpkin seeds, mashed banana, oats, linseed, chopped apricots and butter) - he doesn't normally do breakfast but I figure he can just grab one of these at any time/ carry one in a tub (we have some tubs perfect to fit 1 in) in his bag for a quick snack on the go if needed. I'm also assembling some crumbles for him tomorrow - I've had some of those foil containers sat in my cupboard for years, so thought I'd do a couple of those and that should be 2 portions in each (and gets rid of a small bit of the fruit glut from my freezer!!) I shall make DD loads of roast potatoes Aunt Bess1e style to takeback with her - they're her favourite food ever!

Using up - finished an eye cream sample pot today. Used up odds and ends making rocky road-esque fridge cake and the flapjack breakfast bars were mainly random bits (such as an overripe banana and the apricots which OH bought and decided he doesn't like....) Tonight's dinner is burgers from the freezer (Ys) with buns from the freezer (also YS) - although I'm not eating.

Grateful for - Oh coming home a day early - I couldn't take DS3 to an activity and collect DS2 from another as both were at same time and on different sides of the city (and rush hour traffic was involved) He also came home super early and collected DS3 from school - which was great, as that's when I was feeling really rough. Also - getting washing dry, DS1 being really good natured when I dragged him around a smkt.

Investing in myself - a very early night planned! :D

    Hi everyone,
Whooppee I had some expenses to process for my boss today. Plus some train travel to book. Small wins and all that! Hoping this is the start of more things coming my way – fingers crossed.
Unfortunately the MSE forum locked out my IP address, so I’m now not able to post from work unless I contact admin. Will see what time I have tomorrow lunchtime when no-one’s about.
Laurenh1 – Nothing worse than a lack of manners I think. Good to see your little one starting early – so cute.
    Updates as follows:
S – All up to date.
U – Used up the last of the bread today – actually have one slice and one knobbler for my sandwich. Last slice of treacle tart will probably be ‘used up’ by teenagers after school.
N – Today was a spend day. Had to top up DDs lunch money card plus needed bread, milk, onions and salad which I picked up on the way home tonight.
S – Will help DD with a job application form later. She is applying to be a Christmas Elf at a local garden centre grotto 
H – Still trying to eat healthily. Packed lunch is okay but home dinners could be better. Tonight is turkey snitzel and spaghetti in tomato based sauce (SW recipe).
I – Didn’t bring my book to work today as had too much in my handbag and the zip is already a bit dodgy. Will try for another early-ish night tonight. Love my sleep and don’t get enough of it during the week.
N – None this month yet and none planned.
    E – Managed 13k steps yesterday. Currently on 14k for today 😊
Hope you all have a good day,
    Coxy

  • Today I am grateful for my car, for the noise of the wind, for a good day at work, for being able to help out a couple of colleagues, for getting an order placed, for finishing part 2 of my online training (and getting my certificate!), for getting to aldee for their beetroot -and picking up a wad of christmassy fat squares that are perfect for bunny Christmas clothing, for a chat with dh re sec schools, for dd loving her after school club.

Spread some sunshine – Handed in the bag of donations into the cs today.
Healthy eating – Need to be more mindful with what I am eating. Did ok today.
Invest in yourself. Did wordsearch, mindfulness colouring, reading, watching some episodes of a programme that I like and chilling out. Trying to break the habit of playing games on the computer as they are affecting my mental health.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. Try to find free activities to do. Found an local event to go to next week.
    Exercise - Walked to/from flat/cs.

  • Work has been manic! I left at half seven this morning and didn't get home until quarter to eight this evening. I'm really worn out, and my tellybox is still broken but I have bagged another nsd. It's nice to see my very low bank balance holding steady for a few days and I can almost see payday ahead.

Another NSD today, up to 13 now. Very quiet, nothing to report at all so I'll keep it short! Night turtles.
  • Crafts was okay, apart from one person who was niggling me (I mainly chose to ignore her). Have landed myself with another unpaid job - lavender bags have been much admired and it has been suggested that they would be an ideal addition to the 'family boxes'. We had intended to make some for fundraising so makes no difference really - all helpful in using up bits accumulated through my life (some was mum's, some was grandma's) but slightly worried that they are being cagey on numbers - do they need a dozen, 20 or 50. If I have to make 10 a week (other volunteer helper is doing sterling work too) then I need to work that into my schedule or say can we settle for a lesser target.

Only had a few hours sleep (wide awake at 5.43am) and a short nap after crafts but have scrubbed the bath, made inroads into the washing up mountain, dispersed piles of rubbish to appropriate locations (find more every time I clear an area), put washing ut to dry and another load in and did a whizz round the town centre to pick up bits and do'mummy' errands.

Going to hold off on seeing the doctor until Monday to see if the Vit D makes more of a difference. Most of what is wrong will pass and as long as I can pace myself with a mixture of tasks and resting, I will be fine.

Spreading sunshine - I've found myself doing the 'pavement dance' (step sideways to get out of someone's way, only to find both us doing it) several times in the fast two days. I also loved someone's hairdo (large fluffy green pompoms on the top of her head, smiled widely and started to say something, but her partner caught my smile, returned it and said 'Hello'.

Todaay I am grateful for getting things done (happy as long as I can do a few things each day), for enjoying sewing and light banter and for stocking up on bargain supplies.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
