NST September: Sunshine Challenge

NSD here. Spent the morning volunteering, great to be back and seeing friendly faces (and the ponies too!). Then went for a 30 minute horse ride after, much less painful but the leg still needs time. Great progress and had a couple of good chats as well with people, which is good for me as I'm not normally very sociable. Working from home tomorrow, should be a NSD. Early night tonight as I'm knackered!0

Today I am grateful for line dried washing, for friendly neighbours, for trees for dd to climb, for getting a workout done, for a chat with big sis, for still getting rasps from the canes, for a good detective book, for dh helping to attach the fleece blankets to the lounge curtains in readiness for chillier days.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

I share your feelings on husbands. I enjoy a break for a little bit. Mine is about to go away for a month- bit too long!
Today I am full of coldMy throat is sore & I feel pretty lousy. Perfect timing as hub leaves tomorrow & I'm back in work. Pfft. However still doing what I can, I'm going to set myself some little challenges for while he is away - do yoga 4 times a week, spend as little as possible & use up what is in the cupboard.
started using things up tonight - made a pasta bake which I used some tomatoes in & a random single cheese slice I've had kicking about in the fridge since our last BBQ. Dinner tomorrow is chicken salad made from left over chicken from our roast yesterday.
Today is NSD #7. I'm hoping to get to 12 in the coming week. :jAlthough I need cat food tomorrow & butter .
I don't think I've much else to report, hope everyone is taking it easy0 -
Hi all:j
Sorry not to have posted yesterday but by the time we got back from our evening out, it was much too late.... Parking was £25  near to the venue but only £3 where we parked. Trouble is car park opposite venue is handy for going in - but a nightmare to get out when the performance is over. Last time we were there people were still in the car park a couple of hours later..However, it was a fair walk to get there - all uphill - but luckily dry. Of course, downhill all the way back. Was very cross to have my chocolate removed from my bag at security....fgs. Will be more savvy next time I can tell you. It's on the website she said - oh yes but we didn't buy the tickets from the website...they were a gift. Still didn't buy any of their overpriced stuff inside.
Set your budgets now. Pay to your debts/savings first and live off the rest. Make sure you're on the best deals for utilities, phones, broadband, etc. Are there any areas in your budget that you could cut down on? Will go through budget again & see where savings could be made. Hope to goodness energy switch is going through.
Use up. Have a look through your cupboards and identify any food that's been lurking there for a while and incorporate it into a meal plan. Likewise toiletries, any half opened bottles - use before opening/buying more. Ate up leftover curry before we went out on Sat, then had cake when we got back. Got out steak today but after cooking discovered it was off. Dogs ate very well. DH had pasty, DD LO chicken, I had mushroom all with HM chips, Not quite the same tbh.
NSDs - there are 30 days in September so a minimum of 15 or 20 for a harder challenge. Usual exemptions for ys items, petrol and medical expenses. Now 7/15
Spread some sunshine - be kind to others, help out friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Share your tales of any random acts of kindness. Always try to be helpful when possible.
Healthy eating - up your fruit and veg intake, quit snacking between meals or choose healthier options. Not too bad today.
Invest in yourself. Make sure you take the time to do things that you enjoy. Try something new that you've always wanted to do. No time today. Did make effort on Saturday as going out....not sure why I bothered though as the Arena is such a concrete dump.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. No takeaways today.
Try to find free activities to do. Will do.
Exercise - it won't be long before the darker nights start drawing in so make the most of it while you can. Get outdoors for walk/run/cycle even if only for 10 minutes. Outside for a little while with beasts & family, throwing ball etc. Poorly dog seems to be getting better, fingers crossed.

DH left to go away for the weekend on Thursday at 5pm ( Thursday is the new Friday - Friday weekend is just so last Millenium) Is it wrong I don't miss him at all and am much more productive when I only have myself to deal with (+4 kids?). Still fancy him though. He just needs to go away more often.
So true, wish mine was away more, the amount I would get done :rotfl::rotfl:DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Hi everyone,
Number 5 checking in. Haven’t managed to get on these pastfew days. It’s not really possible to post from work as my desk is in themiddle of an office and people can see the screen. No-one about at the momentso taking the opportunity to get on here.
I had a couple of busier days at work Thursday/Friday as newboss was in, then had Expectations Evening for DDs sixth form plus a charityfundraiser to go to on those nights. Saturday was spent visiting two craftfairs with DSis and DMum and food shopping. Sunday I did some gardening –really helps to relax me plus tackled the mountain of ironing (not so relaxingbut needs must). Have said to DH that he is on Sunday roast/dinner from now onif I’m on ironing – a fair swap I think.
Still not sure about the new job. People are nice enough –quiet atmosphere and most people hotdesk so on a floor of 200 people it will bechallenging to ever know who people are! Boss seems okay so far (left my lastrole as boss was so hideous to me and really dented my confidence to the pointI was signed off with stress). Hoping I will get a bit more to do in the comingweeks as otherwise I will go stir crazy – will probably be eating my words byChristmas!
Thanks for the comments about the fitbit – I think mine is analta – just wondered if I had a dud one but sounds like 5 days is pretty normalfor the battery life.
Updates as follows:
S – paid total credit card bill which will take us overdrawnbut charges from the bank are pennies as opposed to what Barclaycard willcharge if I don’t clear the balance. I always clear it, but I haven’t had asalary for two months so things are tight on just DH’s money.
U – Not a lot of food to use up as teenagers in the houseand things don’t tend to last long, but did take a few salad leaves thismorning for my sandwich. Last of those will be used up tomorrow if they’re notslimy L
N – Spent money on both weekend days but currently on 4/15.Find it easier to not spend on my working days as I bring in lunch. Justdepends whether we need veg for dinner or milk etc. Hoping for a NSD today.
S – Attended a fundraiser for MIND on Friday. Spent sometime with my niece and nephews too which was nice. Hoping to have a theatretrip with my niece in the Spring. Held door open for two colleagues who didn’teven say thank you – no price for manners!
H –Healthy eating continues in the main. I’m on SW andmaintained this week but will press on. Bringing in lunch each day and tryingmy best in the evenings, but don’t especially want to eat different food fromthe family as a) I don’t want to cook two meals and b) I don’t want the childrento have hang ups about food.
I – Did some gardening, read some of my book and knitted apoppy for forthcoming display at church. Also enjoyed looking around the craftfayres on Saturday. Small item purchased for me with my birthday money – anembroidered heart, love it.
N – No takeaways yet this month.
E – Have been managing to get my 10k steps. Usually struggleon a weekend but managed it this weekend, although ironing and knitting seem toadd to my total J
Hope you all have a good day,

A weekend NSD yesterday and should be another today, taking me to 8/15. I will need to get food later but it's work related so can go on expenses.
Budgeting is going to be hard this week. Payday on Friday and I'm already in my OD, as suspected. I need to be careful not to fall into the trap of thinking that I may as well stop budgeting as I've 'failed' the month - actually it could have been a lot worse and I have some useful data for planning in the future.
Not feeling particular cheery as I've also got a cold and sore throat. Will use it as an excuse to hibernate 😁0 -
Set your budgets now. budgets are mostly ok
