NST September: Sunshine Challenge

I thought that I needed to go to the shops today for lunchbag supplies - but I found a hidden bag of Ch3ddars towards the back of the cupboard, so I shall leave it until tomorrow
Day started off after the school runs with a trip to the next town to take DS2 a piece of homework...… first time I've done it for him, but it did involve an almost hour round trip, so I hope it doesn't become a regular thing (I doubt it, tbh - he's normally rather 'just so' about sorting his bag out the night before) I've then spent a lot of the morning properly organising DS1's stuff for uni. Only thing added to the shopping list for him is a fish slice - the spare one I had in the camping kit is rather melted, so I shall just pick him up a cheapy basics/ value one - it's only for fried eggs!I *think* he's then sorted, apart from a small food shop when we get there (we're taking some storecupboard items, so it's more a case of picking up some fresh stuff) I shall also do some baking on Thurs for him and DD (returning on Sat)
2 small flebay sales overnight - both items I received as freebies, so all profit :T Monies rounded up and payment sent to mtgeWill drop them at the courier collection point when I collect DS3
So another NSD achieved, and more stuff leaving one way or another....
Grateful for: a blowy day to get washing dried, flebay sales, my children being in good humour, getting some things organised, some unexpected work being offered to me for next MondayI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Set your budgets now. Have done this.
Use up. Done this today.
NSDs – 13/20 Was an NSD today.
Spread some sunshine – Signed a card in aid of protecting wildlife which will be sent off to an cabinet minister. There is an organised walk on Saturday for protecting wildlife in London.
Healthy eating – Need to be more mindful with what I am eating. Did ok today.
Invest in yourself. Did wordsearch, mindfulness colouring, reading and chilling out. Sorted out some clutter, put items into a bag for cs. Less things in the flat will help my mental health.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. Try to find free activities to do. Found an local event to go to next week.
Exercise - Did not do any today.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -
Afternoon everyone
Ticked everything off my list today but I am having to tackle the outside chores a little slower than I would like because of the weather. Not nice again today.
Had my hair done and bought some bits and bobs which were needed. At least walking to the hairdresser gave me a little bit of exercise. Made some soup for the Boy using chicken stock made from Sunday's dinner and which used up some bendy veg from the bottom of the fridge as well. We're still using up from the freezer for lunch and dinner.
Got another list for tomorrow but whether I manage it depends on whether Himself goes out with his friend. A bit of decluttering and cleaning which I can't get on with if he's here. Might have to make a plan B in case.
Started reading a new book last night and got so engrossed I'm more than half way through it already. Hopefully off to bed early tonight with a pot of tea to finish it whilst Himself watches the football which he's just discovered is on TV. Oh joy, I thought that had stopped for a while.
Have a lovely evening.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Another day of being too busy to do anything.
Work is manic and I'm working all day and then a few hours at home too.
My Sky box has broken - thankfully it's a non mse Q box so I can have it replaced for free. Just have to wait until Sunday for the engineer to come and sort it. However, while I was on I managed to knock £17 off my bill and resolve my previous complaint about Sky Sports which I definitely didn't want any more. Not giving up

Today I am grateful for my counsellor, for buses, for walking, for knitting and sewing, for dd going to a friend's house and having a great time, for getting some online training done (and printing the certificate to prove it!), for Headspace.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Evening all, another quiet day here. Worked from home again today but not much work to do. I like working from home occasionally but not as frequently as this (it's a new thing we're doing), feels quite isolated and lonely. Not to mention boring. But saving on the commute and being able to stay in pyjamas most of the day is a bonus :rotfl: although I did get out for a walk, need to get the ankle up to strength.
Not a NSD today, bought something for OH's birthday online, then decided to do all my spends in one go in order to hopefully reduce the number of spend days for the rest of the month. I ordered some film for my instant camera as I'm off to Iceland soon and want to take it with me, some teeth whitening stuff, treats for the rabbits (because they don't get enough already...) , and a new smart blazer and some socks online. I was naughty and added the clothes to my Very account so I have to be good and get that paid off ASAP. I need a new winter coat but other than that I'm resolving now to buy no more clothes until next year!0 -
Quiet day, more symtoms appearing so must find time to go to the doctor's. Did a minimal shop (simplified the list) for mum and sandwich stuff for me. Went to mum's, made a lovely tea, did some sewing and finished off the jigsaw, let people in, put the bins out and gave mum a chance to blow off steam. Booked another short break in November and booked a minibus for Saturday from a local firm.
Hoping for an early night as my arm kept me awake. Did have a lovely sleep eventually. Want to tackle some of the domestic stuff tomorrow as well as crafts and if there's time visit the chemist in the shopping centre - they phoned mum today and she's afraid she answered all the questions wrong.
Today I am grateful for some lovely weather (mixed bag today, bit of everything), for my phone working so that I could sort a few things and a lovely tea from mum's freezer and cupboard - she had suggested chips and finish off the ham but ham was 4 days past it's date and smelled funny (put it in the bag for the lovely dog as he might be at Saturday's party). Had found some cooked sausages when getting out the chips so chips, sausages, cabbage and gravy. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all:j
Busy morning at the CS, never seen so much stuff as there was to be sorted today...still the time passed quickly & my friend was back from her hols so nice to see her again. Very windy but also sunny day so rushed to get a wash on & then on line, all dry for this evening. Pooch continues to improve, friend coming round tomorrow so she will have a look at her as well.
Set your budgets now. Pay to your debts/savings first and live off the rest. Make sure you're on the best deals for utilities, phones, broadband, etc. Are there any areas in your budget that you could cut down on? Will go through budget again & see where savings could be made. Just got email to say switch going through - hurrah!
Use up. Have a look through your cupboards and identify any food that's been lurking there for a while and incorporate it into a meal plan. Likewise toiletries, any half opened bottles - use before opening/buying more. Lunch was from stores with addition of fresh bread for DH. I then made meringues (to go with GBBO, damn that programme) & we had spag bol beforehand. Used up some past their best mushrooms, a few pieces of cooked bacon, celery & carrot & half a tub of some sauce that was stuck at the back of the fridge, everyone said how tasty it was, they both had seconds. Trouble is can never recreate these meals, as so much random stuff in them.:rotfl:
NSDs - there are 30 days in September so a minimum of 15 or 20 for a harder challenge. Usual exemptions for ys items, petrol and medical expenses. Still 7/15 as shopping day today, however did not spend very much, hopefully more NSDs this week than last.
Spread some sunshine - be kind to others, help out friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Share your tales of any random acts of kindness. Signed an online petition to help save a dog.
Healthy eating - up your fruit and veg intake, quit snacking between meals or choose healthier options. Weight creeping up again, need to make some changes.
Invest in yourself. Make sure you take the time to do things that you enjoy. Try something new that you've always wanted to do. Got out jewellery box & chose a pendant to go on my repaired chain, had compliment from colleague.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. No takeaways today.
Try to find free activities to do. Will do.
Exercise - it won't be long before the darker nights start drawing in so make the most of it while you can. Get outdoors for walk/run/cycle even if only for 10 minutes. Out for about 10 mins in the garden running around with the beasts, then again when DD came round.
