Evening all, didn't get much done today while working from home, had a banging headache all day which just zapped my concentration. Hope it goes overnight. NSD number 12 though which is good. Went for a walk at lunchtime which was also nice as the weather was good, didn't clear the head but was nice all the same. Tried a new recipe for dinner - jerk flavour quorn fillets, they were really nice! Started logging my food intake again on the fitbit app as I stopped when I injured my ankle but need to get a grip on what I'm eating again as far too many sweet treats are sneaking in :o.

Thanks for all your kind words, I must go to the doctor's as a couple of things I've been self-medicating haven't improved so probably some infection. I do tell myself repeatedly that I have to concentrate on what I can do and forget about the rest but it's so frustrating when there is so much to be done. Knee deep in sewing atm but trying to be rational and tell myself that some of it is now designated as Christmas presents.

Being positive, I have brought in several items that have been slowly drying outside, taken lots more rubbish out, started on the bathroom and ticked a few small items off th sewing list plus visited/ emailed/ talked to people about Reception Episode VI: Return of the Married Couple.

Thought I would have to buy a new phone as mine was not charging but have spent some time with Beloved swapping out plugs, electric bars and cables and managed to mostly charge it (needs new cable, micro esb) so postponed the evil day (it is dying, it has been playing up for the past 2 weeks).

Spent some money on bits (plastic sheets and gloves as am going to help Beloved dye her hair using some colourant I had in the bathroom cabinet). She also wants help with attaching a badge to a fake leather jacket and mending the seams on a dress she has worn and washed once.

Was asked for a couple more favours by someone at crafts last week, have some 'surprises' planned for mum (definitely Christmas now), couple of samplers and the inevitable 'messy bedroom' (determined to tackle if I could stand up for long enough without going dizzy) and a vile kitchen (cleared a pizzza box mountain and 4 small bags of takeaway rubbish they had kindly left for me today).

Today I am grateful for fixing my phone, for having enough points to buy a meal deal and for having clean, dry clothes to wear.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Hi all

Seems a few of you are feeling under the weather, everyone remember to rest where you need to & take it easy xx must be the time of the year as I am feeling fairly pants too :(

So today was a spend day but hopefully my last until Saturday. Did a click & collect for free at Tesco. I know I could have got it cheaper at Aldi but I did have a money off coupon & I only bought things on offer. I do feel guilty but I just couldn't bear taking the babies shopping after work on my own!! Anyway, I'm still on 7 but hoping to get to 12 at least this week.

I spent most my evening doing washing, must get caught up as I've fallen behind & as a result my house looks like a laundrette. then once I've done that I'll clean curtains & bedding, slowly but surely getting things back in hand after our crazy summer.
There is a free open day on Saturday with face painting & balloons for the kids which I am going to  Might have to buy a coffee as meeting friends but over all should be a cheap day out.

lunch tomorrow is chicken salad wrap as I have chicken salad left over still and a few wraps that will go hard before long. Need to make some soup & use the rest of the chicken for something this week.
not loads to report , hoping to 're better soon & be a bit more with it :o

    Hi all

Had hoped to go out for the day today but DH most definitely did not....had a few minor errands to do which took up most of the morning. He did say we'd be off out towards the end of the week, so shall hold him to that. Then came back & out into the garden after lunch, poorly dog seems to be improving, hopefully the meds will clear the infection. Rain was forecast - although it didn't materialise - so didn't do any painting but did quite a lot of clearing in the garden, also cut the grass yet again. At least it is now growing. Also picked some more blackberries, elderberries & a few apples..note to self, do not pick fruit unless you have time to deal with it..

Set your budgets now. Pay to your debts/savings first and live off the rest. Make sure you're on the best deals for utilities, phones, broadband, etc. Are there any areas in your budget that you could cut down on? Will go through budget again & see where savings could be made. No info yet on transfer.

Use up. Have a look through your cupboards and identify any food that's been lurking there for a while and incorporate it into a meal plan. Likewise toiletries, any half opened bottles - use before opening/buying more. Lunch from food we had in, supper was Mediterranean Chicken Orzo, was very nice. Pudding LO apple crumble, all gone now.

NSDs - there are 30 days in September so a minimum of 15 or 20 for a harder challenge. Usual exemptions for ys items, petrol and medical expenses. Still 7/15

Spread some sunshine - be kind to others, help out friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Share your tales of any random acts of kindness. Let person go in front in SM queue.

Healthy eating - up your fruit and veg intake, quit snacking between meals or choose healthier options. Lots of fruit today.

Invest in yourself. Make sure you take the time to do things that you enjoy. Try something new that you've always wanted to do. Did enjoy going outside in the garden, mild day with a bit of breeze.

No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. No takeaways today.

Try to find free activities to do. Will do.

Exercise - it won't be long before the darker nights start drawing in so make the most of it while you can. Get outdoors for walk/run/cycle even if only for 10 minutes. Plenty of exercise moving prunings from garden to incinerator area, plus sweeping/clearing path & cutting grass in back garden..

  • Good morning turtles

Got up with the baby at 4.30. However I have been fairly productive - hung yet more washing , took my curtains down for washing & did some ironing. Just waiting for my 3 year old to wake & I'll run a bath for them. I made a list of things I'd like to get done this week- I think it was mother nerd that first described them as frogs. I would like to clean my Windows,my car, my carpets & do all the bedding. I think I'll aim to do one thing per day. Today was the curtains.

I made lunch for tomorrow using the left over chicken & wraps again, & I think I will make the soup tonight & freeze some:)

NSD #8 today, expecting them to come thick & fast now on account of me having 0 money :rotfl:

I hope everyone is feeling a bit brighter today, I actually feel much better in terms of my cold, just tired now haha

Have a lovely day all :o

All lunchboxes made, first coffee finished, list for the day written.

    Good Morning Turtles!!

Oooh, its a bit windy out! I just ran to the front gate with the single bin bag we manage per week, and lobbed it in the bin - just in case they come early. It was dark, nobody saw me, I am the rubbish ninja - Hate doing that, but I really think nobody was about at 6.10.

Unlike half past midnight when the students up the road seemed to have about 40 people leave their house at once and scream until their taxis came, and suddenly 8 cabs later- and a traffic jam!! most of them !!!!!!ed off.
So, students are back, they are all making friends, it is a learning experience, give it 3 weeks and they will all be poor (hopefully) and quieter.

As it is that time of year again can I give my warning to parents of kids going off to uni - please make sure that whoever your kids are living with have a contact number for you (the parents) just in case anything happens and they need to contact you. The Uni does not have the right to contact you if they get into difficulties( due to confidentiality and data protection clauses).
They have to treat them as adults.
Their housemates are not bound by such things.

Three out of 4 kids seem to be coming down with 'the new term germ', sore throats and snotty noses. Oh the joy, how I have missed this (not)!!

Best put tissues on the list for the next spend day - I think I have enough pocket packs to do until Friday. Must remember to check pockets before washing kids clothes (they object to paper snow).

Right off to do stuff. I think DH is knocking around the house for most of the day, he is meeting people from 5 -10pm tonight - it's work, honest! Blimmin' academics. Meeting people in a pub does not make it 'a meeting'. Oh well. My time will come.

    Hi all.

Half day today. Just having a cuppa then out with the dog and some cleaning before the school run. Starting a free 7 day trial at a gym tonight, I do all my exercise outside but it can be difficult in winter so we are thinking of joining.

    Hi everyone,

Apologies for the formatting issues - posting from a Word document at work as I'm not meant to be on here sssshhh! However, if they gave me any work to do I would do it - gladly. I'm just monitoring two email inboxes and printing the odd document. Beyond bored but it pays the bills.

    Updates as follows:
S – received mobile bill notification for 5 x mobiles (me,DH and 3 x children all now with same provider) so will update spreadsheettonight. Think it’s a little less than I had budgeted so that’s good.

U – Used up lettuce leaves in my sandwich today. Dinner willbe from freezer – scampi, fries and peas/sweetcorn. I will make SW chips forme. Need to use up treacle tart – not for me (polishes halo).
N – Currently on 5/15. DS2 has ‘lost’ his rugby socks andneeds them for Thursday, so have just ordered these via the supplier to bedelivered – doubt they will be with us in time, but heyho.

S – The usual holding open doors for people and saying helloto the security guards. Amazes me how people just walk on by and don’t evenacknowledge those around them.
H – Just fruit for breakfast. Had a nagging headache thismorning so I’m just drinking water. Packed lunch was healthy today.

I – Left my book at home today L which is a pity as I’m reallyenjoying it! Went for a walk at lunchtime. I knitted another poppy last nightso that’s 12 in total. Planning an early night tonight.
N – No takeaways yet this month.

E – Looking to do my usual 10k steps, if not a bit moretoday.
Hope you all have a good day,

    Coxy
