Went for an interview yesterday for a temporary job and got it. I start Monday (same as you Coxy), I will be doing 2 full days and one 5 hour day and it should be for a few months. The kids will have to stay at school an extra hour on Monday's then DH can collect them and he can pick them up at their normal time on the other full day but they do have to get the bus to school. It pays quite well and will all be extra cash for us rather than going on day to day expenses.
Kids first day back today, all went smoothly this morning apart from the traffic - everywhere around here is being dug up by the water or gas pipe people.
Ran last night and cycled this morning. Washing is out on the line, it is dry but I can feel a chill in the air, lots of cleaning and ironing to do for the next 3 days. Off to make a veggie spag bol for tea now and then walk the dog.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Bonus NSD yesterday so I'm up to 3/15. Weekly shop today, stocked up on cat food and litter but it leaves 70 quid to cover the last 2 weeks before payday. Should squeak through on groceries, but I have some vet costs which will take us over
The aim for the next 2 weeks is to overspend as little as possible! There is money in savings to cover but not much of it :eek:0 -
Dolly - whoop whoop to the job news, that's fantastic. We shall have to compare how the first day goes lol!
I have purchased a suit from M$S (jacket and trousers), plus a dress and two blouses from H$M plus some tights for the princely sum of £104 which doesn't seem too bad. Ended up buying the coffeesbut did so out of my own pocket money rather than the household account. Also got some Christmas sweet tubs.
Booked haircut for 29th(!) also had another healthy lunch - same as yesterday, managing to use up cottage cheese and ham from the fridge.
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Well done. Dolly.
Coxy - I think that's amazing buying all that for that price. Well done! And great news on the increased rate.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Afternoon Turtles
I've had a bit of a quiet day today. Himself is out with his friend and a few others. I like him doing this because for various reasons he was becoming very introverted and I think, just a bit down (I'm not going to say depressed because that is a much used and not very well understood condition).
I've decluttered a bit of the Boy's former room but, goodness, I really don't know where to start. Took a whole bin bag of t shirts (at least 10 years old) and threw them in the bin. Not very MSE, I know, but honestly, nothing was going to be done with them otherwise, Decluttered a few things from the freezer (ie things that Himself has frozen and he doesn't know what they are). They've probably been there for 10 years as well. I'm sneaking these out gradually so he doesn't notice, I hope.
Kindness in reverse. We have a refugee family from Syria living a few doors down. The neighbours try to help as best they can without being intrusive. The family don't speak a great deal of English but are learning, Yesterday the young man insisted on carrying my shopping home from the supermarket for me. I was just so touched.
So NSD No 4/20
My darling little cousin is in hospital having an operation today. Fingers crossed for a good outcome. Just waiting for her hubby to get in touch,

Set your budgets now. Have done this.
Use up. Done this today.
NSDs – Achieved today. 4/20
Spread some sunshine –
Healthy eating – Need to be more mindful with what I am eating. No snacking today.
Invest in yourself. Did mindfulness colouring, wordsearch, reading, watched some programmes that I like. Also had an nice relaxing bath.
No spending on takeaways, drinks out, etc unless prearranged and budgeted for. Try to find free activities to do.
Exercise – Will be planning to do this each day. Did not venture out today as had a really bad night's sleep. I did manage to sign up for membership to where I will be going swimming. It will be pay as you go, no monthly contract.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -
I'm so boring at the moment. Full day of teaching, meeting after school, too tired to do much but loads to do.
Another nsd and I'm in desperate need of another early night.

Today I am grateful for my kettlebell, for a good day at work, for a chat with my sister - and that she is mending after a lingering chest infection thingy, for dh going and seeking out gf df nuggets and breadsticks, for free sch trousers for dd, for finishing off a report for work, for a good book to read, for choices.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
