  • Mothernerd, it's advisable to keep all your medication with a repeat prescription list to show it's all been prescribed for you in your hand luggage. You may get delayed or god forbid your hold luggage will get delayed!. The rule is that cosmetics and creams should be in little bottles 100mls I think, but naybe 50mls and all placed together in a clear plastic see through bag. You can put all other potions and lotions in your hold luggage wrapped in plastic bags in case they leak. Don't get caught out like I did at Doncaster airport in July, I forgot about the bottle of perfume in the bottom of my handbag. They took it for testing after they saw it on the screener but gave it back to me good job as perfume is expensive. Have a lovely time in Italy relax and have fun, the sun will do all the aches good. Dotty
    NSD 1/3,
My mantra is After I ....I will. eg After I make my morning coffee, I will take my medication. Eventually this will become a habit,

    Hi all :j

The flowers for August are the Gladioli and the Poppy which represents beauty, strength, love, marriage and family

Woke up fairly early so got the outstanding housework done downstairs in readiness for another friend's visit. Fitted in a trip to the jewellers who repair stuff as recommended by friend. He could mend all of the items (3 of them) but told me that the chain that was broken was very worn...it would cost £400 to replace, I was horrified . He's going to repair it for now:cool:

    Aim – for 15 NSD’s now 13/15.

Update (Budgets) – will keep receipts of all spends since back in the UK, at least for another month. Nothing today but accumulating more receipts..still need to input to spreadsheet. Will try to do after this post (!). Err no.. might as well give up on this one & vow to actually do it next month! Definitely in September..

Get (prepared for Xmas) – Wool arrived for gift I will be knitting - colours I think will suit my aunt, hopefully. Downloaded free pattern for it. Ordered some cards for birthday/Christmas that are topical for the celebrations, before I forget. Looked into ordering a cake for my uncles birthday also. Sadly one of the things I ordered for my uncle they don't have & have refunded me..any ideas for a gift for an 80 year old in not great health?? No progress here although the cards I ordered arrived, they are very good. Have made a start on knitted gift, seems odd not to be knitting socks tbh! Not sure of the colours but hopefully they are ones that aunt will appreciate more than I. Had to first wind the skein into a ball, couldn't be bothered to get out the contraption that winds into a cake, big mistake. Hey ho eventually I ended up with a ball not a tangled mess. Did a bit of this project today, did have to pull out some of it but think I have the hang of it now. Would be lovely to get the gifts done ahead of time, instead of frantically trying to finish on Christmas Eve..Did a few more rows of the pattern, think it will turn out OK but I don't like the colours myself (greens & browns). Got a book at the CS on Tuesday that will go with my friend's birthday/Christmas pile.

Utilise (free activities in your area) Looking for free activities at the weekend in Manchester as I shall have quite a few hours to kill as DH goes to a conference.

Share (money saving tips) – Already done.

Treat (yourself) – I would like everyone to budget £3 for a luxury item, have my cold infuse teas now, first one I tried was nice, second one not so keen. Am sipping my way through these. Still like them - although it is not so hot now, it helps with water intake. More bought in Tesco yesterday as they are now reduced. New one I tried was very nice.

The challenge will run from 1st August 00:01 until 31st August 00:00.

    Go turtles!!!!!!

  • Last day of August and I can finally report a NSD yesterday! Which takes me to all of about 4 :rotfl:

Won't be a NSD today as need to get laundry stuff (one of the things I can't get in Aldi as the sensitive types in this house react to anything but the One True Detergent in capsule form). Plus we need a few bits. Then it's focusing on a frugal September.

Apple well done for getting the mortgage into the 19s,

Sasha Looking for free activities at the weekend in Manchester
    People's History Museum
MOSI - Museum of Science and Industry
    Police Museum
    Transport museum
All the cafe's in the Northern Quarter are great, some great c/s in the quarter too.
Art Museum has some great stuff in there
The church on Ann's Square does a lot of free lunchtime concerts
The tourist information is the start point for a lot of £5/7 walking tours on the history of (whatever, from brewing to Abraham Lincoln, to witchcraft)

Also maybe download your own free tour on your phone and follow it - we did one in London on The Great Fire, when kids were doing that topic and it was great.
    Really would recommend.

Yesterday ended up being a NSD as I spent much of it humping furniture all over the ground floor. Sore knee this morning but it was worth it! Will wait and see where bruises appear.

So I just squeaked in with 15 NSDs.

DH is meeting me for lunch today, so I will go for a trawl of the c/s in that end of town this morning.

Back to school is just as I remembered. pah!

    See you in September
Thank you for running this thread, it has kept me on the straight and narrow (well for 15 days of the month anyway!) and just in budget, even with all the uniforms and unicorns.

  • Morning everyone,

Lost track of my last few days but happy to say this month I’ve managed to up my emergency fund and double my target for the additional income I wanted to make. I didn’t hit my NSD target but came within my budget so all good.

Thanks for running the thread EE :)
