Mothernerd the Salford Crescent /Airport train bypassing changing in Mcr always worked better for me, and it really does cut out quite a bit of time. It is not a big station, no cafe or anything, but when I lived in Swinton, i got to know that route welltl! I would recommend this plan over changing at Victoria/Picadilly. The trains are so regular I never had a problem getting a seat either. Suppose it depends if you are travelling at rush hour.
Loved the tales of the soupery - reminded me of whichever Famous Five story when they get snowed into Kirrin Cottage and Aunt Fanny breaks open the locked cupboard in her bedroom filled with tinned goods. There was even food for Timmy (woof!) in there.
NSD yesterday too! NSD14 will try and get another today so I can have a Funday Friday (need loo roll and screenwash- yippee!)
Still waking up naturally at 6.20, so going with it. I like mornings.
There is a band of condensation (outside) at the bottom of my bay window this morning. It disappears with the rising sun, but still, it is definitely cooler and the leaves are coming down quite quickly already. la la la la la !
One kid to orthodontist, ransom demands from school for after school sports clubs and in school swimming lessons. No change from £100 - raided lost property tables that have been out the last week of school and the first week back. Got new size school jumper for DS4 - his 'went missing' it has his name all over the label - I was surprised the number of clothes in the pile with cut out labels.
Right, off to shake my snakes awake - all summer long 3 of them up at 6.30, the week before school goes back, not seen until after 8. Swines.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Lauren - I don't know where you are in the UK but when my two were little I always loved the caravan parks on the Yorkshire coast (and there are a lot of them). You can trade T£sco vouchers for a £90 Hoseasons voucher which is quite useful as well...
Got a very unexpected nsd yesterday - today will not be one as dd has already said she was bored yesterday and wants to go out today. We're going to Ullswater. Not giving up

Hi all -
£15 left in my budget for August :T I paid my credit card bill last week ( I always put online purchases on my card but have the cash to pay it off) & I thought at the time it was higher than it should have been but paid it anyway, turns out I was right & my credit card is now in credit :rotfl: & I am £60 better off for next month. hurrah!
Looking forward to September & drawing a line under the expensive summer break. Another day at home this weekend means I can get caught up with the little odd jobs that I need to do. Enjoying having some days with nothing planned!!
Not much to report really!! :cool:0 -

NSD 21/15 although we did manage a short walk.
New central heating system is being installed in the house upstairs so it's been very noisy here today. I think they have finished now but the house has been bought by a property developer so I'm expecting more of the same in the weeks to come as I believe he's fitting new bathroom and kitchen.
How old are your little ones, Lauren?Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

Walked through the park to and from my gp. Had a good appointment as he is very understanding and supportive.
Had a very much chilled out day.
My brother has brought me 2 dvd's which have been delivered.
Have been sorting out my spending/budget book. Just wrote months and categories in it for 2019 and 2020. No budget set as yet. Just trying to do something positive today. Also thinking about my goals for over the next couple of years.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -

Thanks foxholes. We have done something similar before when DS2 had to have a day operation at Wythenshaw hospital. He went for the assessment and they phoned back later that day (think they must have had a cancellation) to ask if we could be at the hospital for 9am the next day. We did it by catching the 5.30am bus up to out nearest train station and catching the train through to the airport (changing at Salford Crescent) and then getting the bus back towards Manchester (they had started running by the time we got there).
This time he's got us catching the first of the new V1 buses (4am in the morning) but they now run as far as Manchester Royal so once they hit Mc their route diverts from the way we want to go. DS2's plan was to walk across the centre (or catch a cab if I was struggling) and his eyes glazed over when I suggested staying on the V1 for a bit longer then cutting across the university campus (you wouldn't think he spent 3 years studying and living there and it's years since I went regularly) so I switched to suggesting Salford Central but then thought that Crescent is where you change if the train you are on isn't going to the station you want. We have plenty of time when we get to the airport (9.30am flight) and it seems a shame to mess things up by dashing across town with assorted luggage and feeling harrassed and sweaty all day (think I'm getting spoiled with the coach company's door to door service).
Nearly missed today. Read for a while last night but not terribly late. Woke early and had my pills then dozed off. Woke again at 10am but bits were hurting and had trouble just standing up so slept more. Thought it would be midday when I woke - 3.30! Had a bath and managed to toddle round town and spend quite a bit of money.
I now have 2 bags (a small sequinned clutch bag which has pale aqua zigzags to match my dress and fawn ones which will be easier to match if I can't find any turquoise ones. Plus a navy basic bag that's fairly accomodating without being huge. Both from the charity shop as I'm not paying a lot for something I never use.
The only shoes I have found that went on and didn't fall off were stripey deck shoes (pumps). Couldn't get my feet into the boot openings. Will continue the search but the right colour pumps might be my last resort. I also bought a turquoise 'gypsy' type tiered cotton skirt and matching top. Not sure if they are suitable for meeting my son's future in-laws for the first time but they are suitable for the heat, go with my little jacket, don't have spaghetti straps and I will get plenty of wear out of them (I even have some similar cloured linen with a broderie anglaise edging bought with the intention of making a similar skirt).
Got a card for mum, had a (ys) sandwich to eat before starting and bought ibruprofen and antiseptic cream.
Advice needed from all you frequent flyers. I thought the new security rules meant that all liquids and gels had to be carried in your hand luggage in the prescribed amounts and containers, so that they could be inspected (same rule for metal things, medicines) I would want all my pills with me at all times anyway. DS2 is only for thngs you need on the plane and that it okay to put normal sized bottles of suncream etc. in your suitcase and got cross that I wanted to have pills with me (I have the repeat prescription slip in case they ask what they are).
Sorry if I sound daft but I have limited experience with metal detectors - one national conference many years ago (they were so new even the people doing the checks didn't have much idea - I put my medicine cream in the bag because it came in a metal tube) and when I went to the passport office for the one day turnaround (accidentally broke the rules and no-one noticed as I had a kilt pin in my bag - didn't use it very often and I had been to the church christmas meal the night before and left it in the bag as it might have been asked for in one of the games).
Today I am grateful for getting some bits crossed off my list, for lovely food following my unintended fast and good books to read.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
