The iPhone isnt expensive - its the contrats which are expensive.
iPhone is 270.... vs the N95 which is 400 - 450!!
iPhone seems a much better deal at that price, especially since the unlocking software is so widely available.
Its not as if you lose any features by unlocking the phone - all the features on mine work, including youtube.
"Upgrading" an unlocked iPhone is a pain.... its not straight forward if any apple updates make changes to the modem baseband...0 -
Just to add to what others have said here... I've had the iphone for 3 weeks and it truly is a joy to use. It doesn't really have any features that other phones don't have, but it is how it does it that makes it so fantastic.
I do agree that the contracts are prohibitive though. I bought mine from the US and unlocked it myself (not really straightforward). My advice would be to wait until they've unlocked this new firmware version (1.1.2) and then buy one.0 -
I heard a nasty rumour that apple are going to relock all unlocked Iphones apparently they have the ability and the rigt to do it!
Maybe just a rumour though
Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
Positives with IPhone
Classy looks
IPod functionality
Very Fast interface.
Excellent Safari Web Browser.
Ability to install Nintendo (NES) games if the NES emulator is installed.
Availabilty of accessories.
Loads of free downloadable simple applications.
Downsides with IPhone
No Video recording.
No camera Flash.
No Picture Messaging apart from send picture by email if you install the Installer application.
Keeps locking up when on a call. You have to hold power and home button at the same time for 10 seconds to soft reset.
Very slow internet access when using GPRS.
02 only have 30% population coverage for Edge which is slower than 3g.
When on a call it is very easy to put Mic Mute on or put the call on hold or turn on the loudspeaker.
200 minutes and 200 texts and slow internet access for £35 per month.
Qwerty keyboard maybe hard to use for people with long nails or large fingers.
The sim comes with the IPhone and you will not be able to put other 02 sims into the IPhone unless you unlock it first.
Videos of unlocking procedure can be found here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VjMZMOn6Ik4
This will be popular at first and within a month the hype will die down and by January Ebay will be awash with IPhones.
I have been using an iPhone on TMobile for 3 weeks but am now back to using my MDA Vario 3.0 -

I've seen it and played with it today in fact and I have to say as a n95 user I was impressed camera isnt great but its a ipod + a phone camera is a extra the video player is ace and the wifi connection takes away the need for 3G however my work is Wifi and my house suppose it may annoy me on commute home. But I wanted to hate this phone but sad to say I dont,,,,
PS cpw staff getting no discount we want it we pay for it!
when you say 96% of the population will pass what would you have to have on your credit score to fail?0 -
