I've had my iPhone for a month now.... got it in an Apple Store in Seattle, unlocked it, and then came back to the UK with it. I put my O2 contract sim in it... and its all good.
In fact.... i LOVE my iPhone. The GUI, touch-screen, interface, phone stability, music, video playback, web browser and google maps on the iPhone is truly like nothing i have ever seen before.... use it all the time to order Pizza.
Only the phone's camera lets it down (its not bad, just not as "good" as the 5MP on N95)... then again I dont like Nokia, and i didnt buy the iPhone for its camera....
I've never had any probs with O2, but i use Car Phone. The O2 iPhone contracts are totally over-priced in the UK. And the iPhone itself is £55 more expensive in the UK then in the USA and that includes all taxes - I only paid $400 + $36 in sales tax for mine!0 -
If you fail you have to take it back for a refund.:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0

I wouldnt give too much weight to the gadget show review - whilst its true the camera on the iPhone isnt as good as the N95.... i really dont think there is much competition between the two. Who the hell buys a phone to use as a full-blown digital camera?
I've had my iPhone over a month now... before I had the W810i.... I could NEVER go back to phone when i'd have to click buttons and scroll - the multi-touch interface has completely changed the way we use devices like this. I cant imagine not having a touch-screen device in my pocket. Was at a party last night... everyone was like woah where did you get this... how did you unlock it.... i want one too etc.
Its only the WiFi on the iPhone which seriously drains its battery... but you can turn this off and just use the EDGE connectivity. I'm certain only having WiFi on when you NEED to use it virtually doubles the iPhones battery life. If I only make calls on it... battery will last between 3 and 6 days. With lots of WiFi use it might last 1 - 2 days. You have no idea how BRIGHT the iPhone display is.... it insanely bright if you want it to be that way. The auto-correcting keyboard is genius and is always one-step ahead of your mistakes if you cant spell or if you miss the key you intended.
The ability to use Google maps, stream video via YouTube, and Safari - we are talking about a full web browser here, with the ability to "pinch" the screen to zoom out/in. This doesn't even mention the fact its an iPod with cover flow....
Why would I want unreliable/expensive GPS on the N95? If anything, Apple have thought carefully about what people want and need and have produced a practical, stylish device which works!0 -

Hi can I ask where did you get it unlocked, I don't really want an 18 month contract but a bit worried about it being unlocked when there are updates.
thanks0 -
Hey Guys I work at one of the 3 places selling the Iphone,,, It wont be available pay as you go and the credit score for it will be really lol apparently 96% of the population will pass the credit score.
I've seen it and played with it today in fact and I have to say as a n95 user I was impressed camera isnt great but its a ipod + a phone camera is a extra the video player is ace and the wifi connection takes away the need for 3G however my work is Wifi and my house suppose it may annoy me on commute home. But I wanted to hate this phone but sad to say I dont,,,,
PS cpw staff getting no discount we want it we pay for it!Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
i saw the gadgetshow too, i was less impressed after seeing this review. the best place to get mobile reviews is
http://www.gsmarena.com/
people also post information about the problems they have with the phone etc its the best review site i have ever come across. My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -

As an ex o2 techie, and a current Mac user (I'd never go back to PCs now I have my macbook!) I'm not overly impressed by the iphone and I think it's far, far too expensive. I don't agree that 'wifi takes away the need for 3G' - well, if I'm in the city I live in, which has excellent 3G coverage but few wifi hotspots, I think I will be very irritated by it's non-inclusion!
I'm sure the interface is excellent, but personally I think you can get a PDA which plays video, browses the net, runs apps etc - you can pick up one of the XDA range fairly cheaply now and use it on PAYG (not that I'd want to - you only get WAP on o2 PAYG GPRS, not Web, unlike say Voda or TMobile).
I'd wait 6 months or so for when the bugs have been ironed out and the price has come down.0 -
It is the £269 price tag that puts me off. I'd rather wait for the W960i which has most of the features of the iPhone and will most likely be subsidised by the networks that don't have the iPhone contract.0
