Will the iPhone be available on PAYG? I'm unwilling to sign up to an 18 month contract with 02 just to get my hands on this phone.

not while the demand outstrips supply
best chance is finding someone who has an O2 contract , due for an upgrade, who does not want a new phone and will let you have theirsEx forum ambassador

try eBay. but not exactly MoneySaving!!!! more like MoneySpending. get a free phone on a free (or almost free) contract. do you really need an iPhone? Can it wait a year when they drop about 50% in price? Try this I found today. Still snazzy & some touchscreen - http://www.e2save.com/contract-mobile-phone/LG-Chocolate-Clearance-Price-Match/CHOCPMCL
Or LG prada? that's completely touchscreen and quite similar.
Hope this helps!0 -

The iPhone won't be available as an upgrade, everyone has to buy it at retail price.
I've heard that a PAYG option is coming, but not until early next year (currently pinpointed as being February).0 -
I've not heard great things about the Prada phone to be honest. Again, style over substance reviews.0

Existing Customers - "You'll need to start a new 18 month minimum term contract and pay for your iPhone handset but you can keep your existing number. So everyone will know it's you when you call them to brag."
I found this here http://www.o2.co.uk/iPhone-Availability.html under the tab "Existing Customers"0
