Plumduff Go to a singalong showing and you can be as loud as you like
Theatre tickets: was looking at the child goes free London theatre deal which sounded great until I saw the adult tickets were £75
We are also sadly beyond the child menu stage. Even my picky 9yo is demanding proper meals. So they are having to get used to packed lunches :rotfl:0 -
Hi all
Some sad news today about the death of an old friend/colleague.It's so long since I've seen her that it seems silly to be sad for myself but I'm certainly sad to hear of it & for her family.
I have done my budgets for August £160 :rotfl: However my mum is giving me 100 too towards the end of the month so I can make that work.
I am on a mission to go reduced shopping again & I started tonight. Got lots of meat & a bit of bread.I stop doing it whenever we get comfortable & when things get tight I think "I should go YS shopping" & remember how good it is! Anyway ,I need to make it a regular thing & I'm going to challenge myself to go as much as possible.
Went & introduced myself to my new neighbor & were gonna get together with the kids soon. :oi am always glad for the boys to have people to play with !!
Over time tomorrow , boo. But their Dad is taking them to play group . :j
Have a lovely evening all x0 -
Lauren sorry you had bad news. I'm rubbish at finding YS bargains, suspect I am shopping at the wrong times.0
-
Glenda I go at 7 as that's when my Tesco do it. & Aldi reduce stuff between 8&10pm for the next days but again depends on your store0
-
Our nearest Tesco is rubbish at reducing things, they behave like a corner shop imo. They have a couple of areas where they sell damaged items, they look like they've been dragged through a war zone and taped up and they knock pennies off. Their YS items are again reduced by pennies, they must prefer to throw things away.
I was talking to a click & collect driver recently about my damaged flour packet, I asked if they would throw it away if it went back, he said yes and that I wouldn't believe the waste that goes on - I kept the flour that they had made a hole in by piling tins on it.
I am taking the kids out after all today as the thunderstorms have gone from starting at 11 am to 2pm to 8pm. We are going by train to our favourite little town and will have a meal deal lunch there.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Dolly My Tesco used to be amazing, I used to get things for pennies. Now they give the best of it to the food bank and a few local groups (not complaining at all) and the rest goes down to 75% off. However it it still worth going as I can get bread etc for 25p. I actually now prefer Aldi for reductions, like I say they do it all the night before after 8 and if I time it right I can get some good bits, last night I got a full chicken for 1.50, crumpets for 15p etc. They only do 50% off but there stuff is cheaper to begin with. My play group is one of the places Tesco donate to and we get a free snack for the kids from it and get to take home whatever is left, usually bread fruit etc. Plus because it's a play group, you can take as much as you want & there is no stigma- every one gets some & therefor no one makes any assumptions on anyone's financial situation etc0

Sorry for your bad news, Lauren
I don't go to Tesco very often but ours isn't very good for reductions. Our local Aldi is good at the moment for 50% off fruit and veg and I can sometimes get 50% off a free range chicken. Best place for fresh pork and chicken (and sometimes beef) on a regular basis is Iceland. I used to think Iceland was quite poor quality but they've really upped their game in the last year or so.
So today I did a little bit of a shop in Aldi and got said chicken which is now in the freezer. Making a spicy chicken casserole for tomorrow (cheap chicken fillets were in the freezer) and having fish tonight which I also bought cheap a few weeks ago. I think I'm beginning to resent it if I have to pay the full price for anything.
It's been so hot again today that I haven't really done very much at all and we're cooler here than most of the country.
Have a good and hopefully more comfortable weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
