So I moved from TalkTalk few months ago due to price increase and now Sky are doing the same, with Sky I received £100 gift card but my TCB is still pending :( I got 30 days from yesterday to decide if I should move, if i got the TCB paid then I would switch to another offer!

Since it's processed as missing cash back claim it says it can take 2-3 months so I guess if I leave it will be declined. I'm still up for moving if theres another broadband (adsl) offer with giftcard+cashback

Sky have provided fine service thus far however, I don't hear much about BT and Plusnet don't really have offers which work out <£50/yr after TCB/Giftcard

BTW I have found that if you ring and complain to TalkTalk they will credit your account to the end of the year if you prepaid your line rental, with the amount of the increase.

I just say "I am sorry but I took out a contract with you and I prepaid the fee for the period in question, any change to that would be considered an unfair contract term in any UK Court."

I have also used price increases to get a better deal, fibre for the price of broadband for the next 12 months etc.

They are in no doubt desperate for customers, I had to say I want to cancel about 10 times before the guy at the end of the phone got the message I wasn't interested in his offers he was giving to me regardless of them being good or not. Moved to sky and happy chap and better speeds and only £30/yr counting in cashback and £100 gift card

It is a complete rip off for these companies to give you a deal for 12 or 18 months and then pull the rug from under your feet with a price rise.

They would not have a chance in court.

Yes they would as it's not a fixed price contract. Their T&C allow a price rise but also allow you to leave.

So why leave Sky if they are good, just ring up and complain, get them to credit your account with annual difference between what agreed at time of contract.

Don't you find that tagline actually discourages people from leaving thanks? ;)

That is putting aside that TalkTalk clearly has a maths problem, on the right it says Fibre is up to 5x faster than Standard Broadband, yet on the left it quotes that as 17mb. So 5 x 17 = 85, a speed TalkTalk does not offer ANYWHERE in the UK. 38mb divided by 5 is 7.6, so where is the lie, is 17mb a lie that should read 7.6mb or is 38mb a lie?
Since we are being pedantic and dissecting things, I would like to point out that line speeds are usually given in Mb (per second), and that there is no such thing as an mb.

I wonder if anybody really gets that 17 Mb rate on ADSL, or whether the "up to" is a general lie across the industry; my ADSL rate is 3-5 Mb and it's unreliable.

I'm not sure what you're all on about with this conspiracy that Quidco/BT are giving different amount of cashback to different people. I got the £125 sainsburys card and £140 cashback last week but it's a time limited offer (it said this at the time), the cashback amount and sainsburys card have decreased.

Still a good deal but obviously not as good as last week.

TalkTalk ... no longer include free 0845 or free local calls ...
Calls to 0845 numbers may have been 'inclusive' but they were never free. Their inclusion hid the fact that the called party benefited from an Enhanced Termination Fee of around 2p per minute (which paid for the additional call handling and call forwarding inherent in the use of a non-geographic number) and perhaps a small revenue share payout of up to 0.5p per minute.

Ofcom's changes effective 1 July 2015 split the call charges for calls to 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers into two parts and thereby confirmed that these numbers are premium rate. The premium is the Service Charge paid to the benefit of the called party and their telecoms provider. All users of 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers must declare the additional charge wherever their number is advertised. Service Charges for 0845 and 0870 numbers were aligned with those for other 084 and 087 numbers.

As TalkTalk has to pay out up to 7p per minute (up to £4.20 per hour) for calls to 0845 numbers (the same as for other 084 numbers) these calls can no longer be included in call plans. Likewise, for 0870 numbers where the payout is up to 13p per minute (up to £7.80 per hour), the same as for other 087 numbers.

There should be almost no need to call 0845 or 0870 numbers. Various regulation introduced over the last couple of years has led to a mass migration over to cheaper 03 numbers for customer services, financial services, public services and health services.

Call plans now have inclusive calls to geographic numbers starting 01 and 02 and non-geographic numbers starting 03 anywhere in the UK. You can make as many calls as you like to these numbers as long as each call lasts no more than 59 minutes. Some landline providers are also offering inclusive calls to mobile numbers starting 071 to 075 and 077 to 079 anywhere in the UK and this will become more common in the next year or so. The trend is for calls to mobile numbers from landlines to no longer attract a premium charge.

I have the EE broadband and landline (weekend calls) deal that was promoted on MSE a year ago, the one which gave you £100 back (Amazon vouchers?) for paying the line rental in advance for the year, as I never really used the landline for calls, only BB. my monthly phone bill is usually £2.50. this deal for me is due to come to an end in a months time at the beginning of Dec. So its time to start looking around for a similar deal. Can someone tell me are there any similar current deals available? Or should I hang on a week or two as there maybe newer promotions in the pipeline?
EE are already calling me up trying to push their fibre deal, but I`m resisting temptation until I`ve exhausted options.
I`m not looking for inclusive TV or satellite as I have alternative options in place
