Question, never used cashback websites before, are they reliable?
    Ian

Reliable - yes, but up to a point. Cashback is never guaranteed, and it can fail to materialise - often because of 'competing cookies', which means that the browser contained a cookie from another company which took priority over the Quidco/Topcashback tracking cookie.

You'll reduce the chances of this happening, though, if you keep an entirely separate browser (Opera, perhaps?) just for cashback deals, and ensure that it's set to clear all cookies when it closes.
  • Hi everyone,

I'm comparing cashback deals for BT (Internet only package + weekend calls).
I found there is one with £5/month + line rental package on uSwitch, with unlimited usage, while the same plan access via Quidco (with £150 cashback) will cost £8/month.

Does anyone know can I sign up using the uSwitch link and get Quidco cashback (given that I've both sites opened in the same browser)? Or would the cookies of uSwitch clashes with the one of Quidco, thus failing to track the cashback?

And should I wait for better deals for Black Friday? (I move in to a new place and urgently need Internet).

    Thank you! :T:T

    You could clear your cookies...
  • I just rang TT to cancel as am out of contract and wanted to see if they would do anything to keep me (they gave me a decent deal to stay last year).

Was quite amazed that the best that they could offer was £23 a month for BB/Line Rental/Evening and Weekend calls, which is pretty terrible. No account credit or anything - even though I pointed out the current Plusnet deal!

So I cancelled and there was very little in the way of attempt to get me to stay. Am I missing something or is this what they're doing now, even in the face of a massive security breach etc

My guess is that everyone and their dog are trying to "leverage" the issue to get a better deal, and perhaps TT have decided to tough it out.

If moving, I ould have registered the 3rd party and allowed them to handle the switchover, rather than quitting the one to go to the other.

Perhaps they've had a lot of customers leave recently and need to now maintain high prices for ex customer.s

Plus net should be good move :)
  • Hi Prowla,

Do you mean I can click on the uSwitch link and then clear that cookie, and then open quidco and finish the deal? Sorry I'm not very tech savvy on this. Many thanks.

You do realise the consequences of cancelling without instructing another provider to take over ?

Depending upon your browser, you can go to the history (maybe under settings or options or a button which looks like a hamburger), then find the cookies somewhere under there, and then either delete the lot or just search for uswitch, quidco, and anything else you want to get rid of.
