Nothing wrong with Amazon, the stricter they are with customers that abuse the system the better, we have been using them for years and in that time have only had to returned about half a dozen items.

Even had an expensive coffee machine with a twelve month warranty which started to leak after eleven months, contacted Amazon and as they no longer stocked the item they asked us to return it and issued a full refund without any argument despite the use it had.

I know someone who purchased a Tomtom sat nav for just their 2 week driving holiday. When they returned from holiday, they returned the sat nav for a refund saying it was faulty. That is the kind of behaviour that is getting worse.

Yes use them all the time. Fan bloody tastic, but you really have to take the customer ratings with a shovel of salt.

I think you were hoping to give Amazon a good shoeing on this thread.... how's that going for you?

And how about this for a bargain?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sonline-Super-Strong-Rare-Earth-Magnets/dp/B012HVME8A/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1528817268

They take a while to arrive, but 58p and they can find pipes in walls, find which pans can use induction hobs, stick things to fridges, and damn fun to use as "worry beads". Thank me later.

Shopping at Amazon is a bit like buying factory eggs - either you're someone who just does it, someone who holds their nose as you think they are ethically suspect but do it anyway, or refuse and go free range/bricks and mortar. Whatever floats your canoe (up the Amazon).

Well it seems to have helped you get over your "moral and ethical" reasons for not shopping at Amazon. :rotfl:

The sooner they get stricter with returns the better. Marketplace sellers are getting sick and tired of having to accept returned items that have been removed from the original packaging that they can no longer sell.

If you are going to buy something, check the item is correct before you part with your money.

Amazon should not be a place of buy and try and send back after using.

OP out of interest why was you returning so many items?
Maybe you should read up on the Consumer Contracts Regulations regarding distance selling. If you make the choice to sell online then you abide by the relevant legislation, simple as.

Hi Tazer, I was not returning any items at all to Amazon. The reason for posting this thread in the first place is that I don't like the way Amazon operates it's returns policy in terms of just banning people without any warning. Amazon needs to be more transparent about what it determines as abuse and what it does not. Let me give an example, you buy a high value electronic item and it arrives damaged, or not working. Maybe it was damaged during delivery. If you then get a replacement and it has any issues or does not work etc and you return it to Amazon for a replacement or refund, the chances are that you will get banned without any explanation given. There are often mitigating factors in certain cases and if Amazon feel that you have abused their returns policy you get banned. However Amazon will not listen to your reasons and explanations which is totally wrong imho.

How would you know the way Amazon operates when you don't even have an account with them?. You have simply read negative reviews and stories online and lapped them all up so you have a biased negative opinion of them.

I have ordered plenty of items from Amazon and returned a couple for legitimate reasons and I've never had a problem.

But if Amazon want to ban people then that's up to them, they obviously will only ban people who they think are abusing the system otherwise they will loose good customers. They can'y give specific criteria for when someone will be banned because that will encourage people to abuse the system just enough to not get banned.

If they said for example that anyone with problems with less than 2.5% of their orders will never get banned. Then someone could simply buy 98 low value items for every two expensive items that get "lost" during delivery and they get refunded for.

I use them all the time. Very few problems and when there is they are very quick to help and usually extend your Prime membership for a month.

I've also switched to smile.amazon which will donate to a chosen charity when you order, on millions of items.

    Totally not true.

I returned 2 game consoles, both faulty, in the space of a week and was issued a refund with no problems.

AFAIA they are only banning people for "change of mind" returns not faulty items.

..and yet this is almost a duplicate of several earlier threads you posted on the same subject?

You were posting about this same subject as early as 2014!
Amazon can and will ban you for excessive returns/refunds including here in the UK. Seems to occur more quickly when people returning high value items like electronics from what I've read on the web.

Are you certain you're not just bitter at having been banned from Amazon yourself? :p
