Still shopping at Amazon?

Yes use them all the time. Fan bloody tastic, but you really have to take the customer ratings with a shovel of salt.
I think you were hoping to give Amazon a good shoeing on this thread.... how's that going for you?
And how about this for a bargain?

They take a while to arrive, but 58p and they can find pipes in walls, find which pans can use induction hobs, stick things to fridges, and damn fun to use as "worry beads". Thank me later.
Shopping at Amazon is a bit like buying factory eggs - either you're someone who just does it, someone who holds their nose as you think they are ethically suspect but do it anyway, or refuse and go free range/bricks and mortar. Whatever floats your canoe (up the Amazon).
Thank you, I've bought some of those magnets , I have an idea of a use for them and at that price I could afford to buy a couple of lots to play around with.
As for this thread, the story appears to change every few posts, and no doubt we can look forward to seeing it again in 2 years time.
However, for the record I am not aware of anyone afraid to order from Amazon in case they get banned. In fact when my 7 month old kindle developed an issue I went through their trouble shooting help line, they decided it was properly broken and without me even asking sent me a new one the same day. All I had to do was wait for the packaging that the new one arrived in and send back my old one. All completely free of charge. I cannot praise their after care enough.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. how I feel about Amazon though. I just hope that none of you ever get banned by them in the future as nobody really knows what their algorithm is re returns. All I'm asking for is greater transparency from Amazon. That's all
You got banned because you abused the return policies. If they published what that policy was, people like you would exploit it to the maximum.
Billions of people around the world use Amazon and only a tiny, tiny fraction get banned. Does that make you feel special?0 -
I have never had a problem with Amazon, use them at least once a week, only had to return one item in about 5 years, that was a mod box that stopped holding its charge - I had a new one sat on my desk within 24hrs.0

broken and damaged items because of Amazon's poor packaging and handling by their delivery drivers. I used to order a lot of cd's and dad's. Most arrived with broken cases including the inside of the case where the cd or dvd sits. More expensive items arrived with all the packaging broken inside. Why should I or any other customer accept goods that have been paid for and delivered in that condition. Amazon really have a poor reputation with regards to computer components as they are not correctly packaged and a lot arrive DOA because of this. Amazon also sells a lot of Mobile phones but if you look at certain threads on the Web including Amazon own forums a lot of people seem to receive their supposed new phones with no seal on them or the seal removed which clearly indicates that they are not new. People who are Amazon customers are now actually scared to order from Amazon for fear of being banned. Other Amazon customers just accept faulty and damaged items and dare not return them for fear of being banned. Amazon is ruling by fear now and this is no way for any corporate business big or small to behave imho.
Yet again another load of rubbish, it's strange how you seem to believe every negative comment about Amazon but are skeptical of anything positive.
I have personally returned two lots faulty goods to Amazon and got a refund without any problem. One of them went faulty after about 6 months and a full refund offered without question.
Only an idiot would be "scared" to return damaged/faulty goods for fear of being banned. If anyone is saying this then they are just being dramatic.
Amazon is very good at handling refunds for faulty goods even years after the item was bought in some cases.Hi everyone thanks for all your replies. Just for your information I don't have a personal crusade against Amazon as many other people on many different forums have very similar views to myself and because of Amazon's behaviour and stance re returns and other business practices no longer shop with Amazon. Just to add that I don't believe that Watchdog would have featured Amazon's wrong practices re returns on their programme if it was not justified. Clearly the responses received so far are heavily biased in Amazon's favour but that is fine. We all have different opinions. Still does not change hohow I feel about Amazon though. You very obviously do have a personal crusade against them because anything negative you see about Amazon you believe 100%. But when people write positive comments you says they are "heavily biased".
I and other have already explained why they can't give details of exactly when people will be banned. But i think it's a good policy because that means they are able to offer a very good hassle free refund policy.
The fact that you choose not to have your own account because of this policy is ridiculous. Ordering through someone eases account still means you are giving them you business and money so that's your "moral high ground" out the window.
If you were sensible you would order from Amazon using your own account and return items as you see fit, if you get banned so what you didn't really like them anyway. Then at least you would have your own experience and not believe every negative comment about them.0 -
I really did not expect to have to explain this but hey ho, I shall put it in to simple basic English.
The abuse occurs when people return things multiple times as they know they can get away with the false and fake claims because of the CCR.
CCR is great for honest people but a gift to dishonest people.
I hope you understand what I mean now.The sooner they get stricter with returns the better. Marketplace sellers are getting sick and tired of having to accept returned items that have been removed from the original packaging that they can no longer sell.
If you are going to buy something, check the item is correct before you part with your money.
Amazon should not be a place of buy and try and send back after using.
OP out of interest why was you returning so many items?0 -
Hi Tazer, I was not returning any items at all to Amazon. The reason for posting this thread in the first place is that I don't like the way Amazon operates it's returns policy in terms of just banning people without any warning. Amazon needs to be more transparent about what it determines as abuse and what it does not. Let me give an example, you buy a high value electronic item and it arrives damaged, or not working. Maybe it was damaged during delivery. If you then get a replacement and it has any issues or does not work etc and you return it to Amazon for a replacement or refund, the chances are that you will get banned without any explanation given. There are often mitigating factors in certain cases and if Amazon feel that you have abused their returns policy you get banned. However Amazon will not listen to your reasons and explanations which is totally wrong imho.
Nonsense, those who get banned are the ones abusing the system. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -

Opinions and facts are two very different things. It's very clear that the vast majority of Amazon shoppers are very happy with the service they receive, that is fact and not opinion. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
Whatever the OP's reasons for posting negatively about Amazon, I personally have cancelled my Prime membership. Not due to damaged items or receiving second hand goods but due to delivery problems. I used to use Amazon in preference to anyone else, it was a rare couple of days when I didn't receive something but in December a parcel was noted as received by recipient, but I hadn't taken delivery. I was refunded but was astounded that amazon had no notes as to who picked up the item, and what address it was delivered to. This meant that Amazon would be within rights to refuse to refund.
I didn't order for a while, then I started using amazon again in March, not as often as before but I was using them. 10 orders later the same thing happened. Again, I couldn't find anything out. No idea where it was delivered and well, if it was an admin error or the fault of the courier, no idea. I was offered a refund when I complained initially but thought the item might still arrive. It didn't. I have still not received a refund, cancelled my prime membership and won't order from them again.
I also had problems last year with someone somehow getting access to my account. I have no idea how (I know how to avoid pfishing etc). Amazon refused to tell me yet again what happened and how as they could not reveal their security procedures. I never wanted to know what their security procedures were, I just wanted to know how this transaction happened so I could figure out how to protect myself.
This refusal to deal with customer anxiety when its your money going down the drain is wrong. The lack of information is their main problem for me, when things go wrong. I just won't deal with them again.
I am aware of the concerns about their employment practices but feel an employee doesn't have to work for them. Perhaps I am wrong in that opinion. but I do think Amazon is just too big. Unfortunately while investors aren't concerned and prepared to keep the company afloat, nothing will change. Unless you have some things happen to you like I did, customers will shop there because of the convenience and prices.
I prefer to email as I have ASD and don't do 'live' conversations well. Amazon don't do emails anymore. Its live online chat or phone them, which I just can't do. Even when I emailed the Jeff email addy, I did get a short reply, but couldn't reply, it was a no reply email. So that was the final straw for me.0
