Hi just put in amazon banned returns into Google and all the forum threads come up. If you then click on news at the top it will tell you what Amazon have recently been doing in the US with regards to banning people without any prior warning. Amazon should state in its terms and conditions as to what it classes as abuse, what is an acceptable returns rate etc. Some people have asked for a facility on their Amazon account so they can then actually see what their actual returns rate are. Also Amazon should contact all customers before banning them once they hit a certain level of returns or refunds, try to work with the customer and if after that it continues then by all means ban them. What I don't agree with is Amazon banning customers without any prior warning. In effect greater transparency is what I'm asking from Amazon.
Customers are free to stop buying from Amazon without warning if they have perceived problems. Customers have no need to warn Amazon. Why shouldn't it work both ways? Amazon are doing nothing wrong in refusing to sell to people who abuse their returns policy. It's a commercial decision and if they disclose what rate of returns trigger a ban people will abuse it, have you got that yet?0 -

Yep
I also drive a diesel car.
Considering continuing the theme by spraying perfume in puppy dogs eyes ;-)Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???0 -
For the final time I will say that I have not been banned by Amazon lol. Neither am I a serial returner. However as per the DSR customers do have a right to change their mind and return things even without a reason. I fully support and standby what Watchdog said about their investigation into Amazon with regards to them banning customers. Amazon don't follow rules and laws. Instead they play the Amazon game and do want they want which is totally wrong in my humble opinion. The people that were featured on Watchdog having been banned by Amazon were given no explanation or warning as to the reasons why they got banned and again that is wrong. Another gentleman who was featured in the Guardian again was given no explanation as to why he was banned. Again this is wrong in my humble opinion and again shows how arrogant Amazon has become. My final words on this thread will be that corporate companies like Amazon and others should never have been allowed to get as big as they are. The resulting effects of this are now being felt by a lot of people and it's only going to get worse. Sorry but that is fact. However Jeff Bezos the CEO of Amazon and others like him getting richer and richer everyday is fine. I'm out of here. Have a nice day everyone0

A company appearing on Watchdog is generally interpreted as a recommendation.
It's very much the Daily Mail of TV.0 -

How is that "wrong"?
I'm of the opinion that the people you refer to already know exactly why they were banned and don't need any explanations. If they feel truly unfairly treated, they can appeal giving their reasons why they should be reinstated.Hi just put in amazon banned returns into Google and all the forum threads come up.I'm out of here.0 -

Yes you have an absolute right under law to return goods bought in line, no one would disagree with you with that statement. However there is nothing at all in law that prevents a company refusing to deal with you, any company can choose to ban a customer for any reason. That's the bit you don't seem to get. There is absolutely no need to write that in terms and conditions either.
Just as an example , new users on here are not allowed to post links, that is MSEs right to say that, however hard you look though you won't see it outlined how many posts or over what time period etc a new user has to be active before links allowed.
If you are a serial returner for frivolous reasons (and you protest a bit too much to suggest anything other than that scenario) then Amazon are not the only ones who will ban you. Name any large online store, even some of my favourites like Lindy Bop or Ted Baker watch return percentages, I mention those two because I've seen people complain on forums about being banned after returning virtually everything without a purchase for months on end. Even Tesco direct (now closing of course) have banned people.
I run a small online store, I give my buyers full legal rights to a change of mind return (they pay postage), however anyone that costs me money, as a return does, is potentially going to be blocked from buying again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. So what rules and laws are they breaking exactly?. They do allow change of mind returns and offer people free postage to return it and a full refund so they go above and beyond what is expected.
There is no law of rule that says a company can't ban customers they don't want to do business with. The people that were featured on Watchdog having been banned by Amazon were given no explanation or warning as to the reasons why they got banned and again that is wrong. If they are given a reason why they are banned then that would leave them open to abuse if it is widely reported. This has been explained to you many many times but you fail to understand.
Just like if you apply for a loan, credit card etc from a bank and you are rejected they will not tell you the reasons why.
But you seem so taken in by sensationalist newspapers and TV programs you can't see how their cases are exaggerated to make it more entertaining for people like you. Do you believe everything you see on TV or written in a newspaper 100%?
Finally what is wrong with how big Amazon has become? If people are choosing to use them then why shouldn't they make big profits. If the CEO is doing a good job of growing the business then he should get richer that's what happens in a capitalist society. If other businesses are failing due then that's due to people choosing to not use them, so why should a business that people don't want to use have a right to survive?.
It's ironic that you don't like how big Amazon is yet then go on to complain about their policy of banning people which actually reduces their amount of customers.0 -
