Kerry Woman - well done on your walk.

Today I am grateful for drying the washing outside, for dh taking dd to her show, for dd coping with the show, for dh nipping to aldee for some needed bits, for getting more marking done, for my workout, for eating well today, for dd finding her ballet socks (in the costume bag from a festival she did at Easter!)

A - Some spends this weekend that were not life or death, but certainly help and have made for an enjoyable weekend. All within budget. Ordered a book by my favourite author for £1.40 new, with free delivery from Amazon. Would've cost more for a second hand one

J - Still on 5/10. Spends every day, even though hubs said he'd buy my ginger drink (it helps settle my sickly stomach of a evening) I insisted on reimbursing from the correct budget (groceries). Amazon had an offer on baby things; spend £10 on baby items dispatched by them and you got £9 of free wipes (we'll be using reusable ones but a few packs on hand for travels are helpful). I bought Baby Bee a teether and a toy made completely from recycled plastic bottles - even though they're months off using them :o
U - I made some things from stores that would usually be purchased ready made. DH was appreciative and said he liked the homemade version (which is good as it saves money)
N - I said I'd allow myself a takeaway after the birth, no sign of Baby Bee but DH and I had a lovely time with a packet of chips and walking up and down a pebbly beach (apparently it encourages the baby down - Lord knows what I looked like...)
E - Oh dear, see above. I also bought some very reasonably priced ice creams from Lidl and had one whilst sunning myself in the garden this afternoon (but as I can't lie on my front the back of my legs don't match the fronts). Otherwise I've not exactly been eating rubbish but just what my body is asking for.

O - I have been the easiest on myself I think I've ever been! I do now feel like I need my down time, in theory I only have a few days of it left (*pfffft*, theory)
D - Savings payments made at beginning of the month.
E - My broken foot is now well enough (provided I put on sturdy boots) to go for a short walk each day. Feel much better for it. It's hillarious that what is now a 30 minute walk I would've run in about 4 minutes before...
    S - Done. Groceries: £64.22 / £200; Personal: £6.39 / £65.44
S - I fear I have bought twice as many newborn nappies as needed, plus I've got loads of disposable samples from a certain well-known brand that I have no desire to use. I've dug them all out and will take them to the food bank near the midwife clinic this week.
E - My usual weekend failure.
Y - I have invested in myself this weekend with getting lots of fresh air and vitamin D, walks, read two birth/parenting books and chips on the beach :)

    Gratitudes:
    * The library service - I went to the one in the next town and came out with a bag of fantastic books (including Jack Monroe's second book)
    * Not feeling guilty for having chips and ice cream

    Hi all

Really busy at the moment because there are 4 overlapping exam contracts so this week is going to be absolutely manic, as this weekend has been. On the plus side though it is helping me earn extra money and stopping me from spending the very little that I do have.

Trying to keep the faith and still be looking after myself as well. Hope everyone is well and sorry I haven't got time for a more detailed check in.

  • Evening everyone,

Got through to Tesco last night, they refunded me for the missing items plus the delivery fee but this meant I had to nip down to Sainsbury this morning to get the rest of the shopping. Both these shops put my grocery spend to £101.57/£200.

Donated a £1.50 bottle of men's Lynx shower gel to the food bank whilst I was out.

Have been busy cooking for the wee one today. 4 portions of vegetable soup, 4 portions of Mexican beans, 3 portions of cheesy tomato risotto, 3 portions of shepherds pie and 5 portions of fish cakes. Have the ingredients to make a potato and spinach curry, which I'll do tomorrow or Wed. This boy eats better than I do!

Sent £1.79 to the EF, that's £28.60 added in total this month.

Read a bit of a book in between cooking and whilst the little one had a nap.

Good evening all, its late and I am off to bed to listen to my audible book for an half hour down time before sleep.I had another spend day today, I bought some plants for my garden, I am finding real comfort being in the garden. I am back at work tomorrow so healthy breakfast planned, strawberries, grapes, Greek yogurt with flax seeds, and healthy egg salad planned for lunch. Gammon with jacket potato for evening meal. A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. No purchasing today ! When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible); Small amount of clearing done, went through a box of papers, binned some & re-read some old letters from a friend...also sorted a few more clothes. DH going great guns with the cellar. Also decluttered a mouse from down there too....

J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. Aiming for tough target. Now 7/20

U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) Got into kitchen early & prepped chicken & rice for tea so it was a simple cook later on - DD came & brought healthy ice cream & wafers...

N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. None.

    E Eating
well is a form of self respect. Good today, even the ice cream was..

O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself. Waves pompoms wildly encouragingly!! Good & peaceful day today, invited relatives to call this week even though they upset me....will be kind..

D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left No debt other than cc I use for all purchases to get rewards - which is paid off in full every month. Will need to get the cc bill down during the month with payments made daily (PAD thread) to avoid large bill at end of month. Daily PAD..had some £2 coins which I save for hols.

E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Early got in the garden before it got too warm, did some potting up of new plants....rainfall at dusk so no need to water tonight...yaay.

S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Have all receipts in shoebox awaiting DH revival of spreadsheet..maybe tomorrow as out today. More receipts into shoebox...still not done.

S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Will be amassing stuff to take to CS as I clear the clutter; also intend to sell better items to pay for hols booked for August. Have taken photos of shoes & will list tomorrow. Will make donation to other charity this week, need to check euro account to see if there's enough cash first.

E Every day check in is recommended, especially when things go wrong. 10/30 here I am..

You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest. Reading, learning & inwardly digesting. trying to feel happier with myself, need to list things that I do well instead of the negative stuff..

Mothernerd thank you for the good wishes - it wasn't my animal; it was one in rescue that I donated to for his care, but I was still sad he couldn't be saved..

Sadly mothernerd I only have a northern terrace style back yard. Completely paved, but I have a washing line that goes from the wall outside the back room, past the kitchen past the small downstairs bathroom and ends at the built on shed that connects to the back wall. It is a sun trap and I need to turn it into something rather than a painted white wall leading to the ginnel at the back.
As it is totally paved and no more than about 7 feet at its widest part, I am concentrating on pots.

It is a work in progress!

Right, DS2 off on ' 5 day watersports on south coast holiday' with school today, and poor DH is just about ready to throttle him. He put off packing until after 7 last night despite multiple reminders, and then kept coming in every 2 minutes with his list asking where he could find his ___________. In that respect, they are two sides of the same coin. Possibly they are too alike, but DH has managed to grow out of it (or he would be under the paving slabs in the yard by now - shhhh!).

It is not good when you have to remind your DH that only one of them has an excuse to be childish.

    Hello,

children's festival was great. Spend a bit too much money but that was the first time camping with the kids and we treated this weekend as a learning experience (what to buy or bring next time etc). All in it was amazing.

So now I have £140 left till the end of the month. DH is away for two days and I will use that time to meal plan, take freezer stock etc. Still got plenty of lunches left.

Swim today, healthy lunch and snacks packed.

Lost track of my no spend days though. probably only 4/5 now? I'll assume that and can still get to my 20.
