Thank you to everyone who has taken part this month, whether you stayed the course or dropped by the wayside. You have all done magnificently and you should congratulate yourself on your achievements - I think Kerry Woman and indigo are the most inclined to damn themselves with faint praise ('could do better' woman, you are doing excellently, just keep plodding and striving but enjoy the journey). In general, we are all much harder on ourselves than we need to be.
I hope the quotes helped and that you try to remember to ditch negative self-talk, guilt, perfectionism (never the perfect time to do something, just jump and imperfect but done is better than perfect but not done). It's mostly stuff I have been reading to help me, but thought that most people would benefit from it from time to time.
I have slept for most of the day (as a result my feet and ankles are back to normal size). Hoping to do a bit now that it has cooled down. Boys have made me feel better about spending money - DS2 realised he had put his best jeans in the wash and was meeting people in 2 hours, so went off to buy a new pair of smart shorts. He also brought some of the money he owes me which means I am quite a bit better off than I thought I was (and makes clothes purchases less extravagant).
DS1 (via bookface) had been to be measured for his wedding suit - a friend offered him a £100 off voucher for the tailor he used. He replied that he had the £100 voucher but the total was still .
Need to check out the freezer which was full when I left but may have been emptied again. All the clean plates and bowls have been used.
Today I am grateful for sleep, for good reading (only a few pages), for renewed determination, for having enough and for you turtles. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
So close to achieving the tough target of 20 NSDs but couldn't resist making use of some store vouchers which in the long run will save me £s, I end June on 19/15NSDs for the month.
All budgets were under other than Groceries which was over by £2.86 (<1% overspend!) and Clothing by £30 for the month but on track for the year.
Grateful for :
the continuing dry weather - I've made it to the bottom of the laundry basket,
end of exams for my dd - waiting game for the results now
all those who run the monthly threads - Thank You

Hi all :j
A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. No spends today. When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible); Discussed this with friend this afternoon. Could call it a might do list, Probably need to make a big list, even if just to cross off stuff that is getting done, as motivation LOL. Look forward to the discipline of actually doing this...woooo Great list mothernerd, will certainly study this if I ever get a moment, Got up early & did stuff whilst it was still cool, feeling it now though, hopefully better soon.
J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. Aiming for tough target. Final total 16/20, not too bad..today had sales email, went onto site - twice - put 2 pairs of shoes in basket, then talked myself out of buying anything at all, pretty proud of myself...
U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) Lunch was fridge stuff for both of use; then risotto for tea with bits left over from dine in chicken....
N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. Nope.
E Eating well is a form of self respect. Not too bad today..although lots of throat sweets may have been consumed..again
O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself. Waves pompoms wildly encouragingly!! Had to rush round to DDs house as she had a message to say that the trip was thrown & none of the kitchen appliances worked, including the fridge & the freezer & she was on shift all day. Identified the cause of the fault (cooker) so switched that off & all other appliances working, thank goodness. Have to get someone out to see what's wrong but thankfully all her freezer stuff/fridge stuff OK for the moment.
D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left No debt other than cc I use for all purchases to get rewards - which is paid off in full every month. Will need to get the cc bill down during the month with payments made daily (PAD thread) to avoid large bill at end of month. Concerned about this one tbh...not been taken yet so will have to see..Monday I think..
E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Outside with dogs early - then later when it cooled - then out watering again tonight. Going to be ongoing this one..
S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Have filled in a lot of the spreadsheet but it is still a wip, will add rest. More to add tomorrow, then need to take stock as cannot possibly need any more food. Now gonna do it for July, more difficult as on hols for last week & first 2 weeks of August but will persevere.
.S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Will be amassing stuff to take to CS as I clear the clutter; also intend to sell better items to pay for hols booked for August. Ironed some stuff ready for photos & charged up tablet for photos. Soon, I promise...will be this weekend otherwise it will be too late..sorted lots, but then ran out of energy as a bit poorly. Still getting there though, thanks mothernerd..
E Every day check in is recommended, especially when things go wrong. 30/30 here I am..
You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest. Reading, learning & inwardly digesting. Help and support on here is the best..progress slow but steady..keep on keeping on. Getting on with the clearing, hopefully it is looking bad before it looks better! Finally did bathroom & had hair done, now challenge is to make sure it doesn't end up a dumping ground again..so far so good..its only been 24 hours though..bathroom still AOK.
Thank you for the July thread mothernerd!!
