Soooooooo........ Yesterday was my 50th and so it was a day full of celebrations etc and I ate what I wanted.....toast for breakfast, afternoon tea and then last night I had takeaway Pizza which was lovely. Feel a bit rough today though so think it is the after effects of way too many carbs when I am usually keto. Didn't have a drop to drink (saving that for a family weekend away next week!) so definitely not alcohol related!

Tonight I have had chicken salad with halloumi fries.

Happy Birthday for yesterday, Rach! Sounds like you had a lovely day.

Dinner tonight was pan fried cod fillets marinated in honey, soy, chilli and ginger and served with steamed asparagus, tender stem broccoli and snow peas. For pud I made an apple crumble which we had with a scoop of Cornish ice cream.

Happy Birthday to @rachsecret and welcome to the fabulous fifties.

Haven't bothered with anything this evening as I had lunch out today and felt I had to clean my plate so am still feeling stuffed.

My oh cannot resist a bargain & came home from buying milk in the little Tesco with real French Camembert (was £2.30, reduced to 90p as short dated).

He made up a small amount of bread dough (you can keep your carbs lower if you don’t have to buy a whole 800g of commercial bread) and plonked the Camembert in the middle, garnished with a few sprigs of rosemary & a couple of cloves of garlic.

    200ºC for 20 mins.

Served with baby gem lettuce from Aldi (still fresh after 10 day kept in closed bag in salad drawer) raspberries from garden & slices of apple with lemon juice & black pepper - sounds strange but it went really well.

happy belated birthday!  You are such a puppy!!!  I can't even see 50 in the rear view mirror any more!!!

I quite get what you mean about the carb hangover!  I'v been sneaking in some bread but know that not only will it not do my waist much good, my tummy will rebel as well.  Saying that I did make "egg mcmuffins" for breakfast....

And tonight the other half is finally strong enough to get off the lardy backside and do something with the rib of beef.  I know there will be new potatoes and yorkshires but can only speculate if there will be anything else.  So much for no carb.....

Thankyou for this recipe, I've copied and pasted it into my "useful recipes from MSE" notepad to use at some time in the future because it sounded delicious and easy to do.

I had a bit of an eat up odds and ends from the fridge meal with the last pitta from a packet filled with salad and topped with a fried portobello mushroom that needed eating along with a sliver of ripe brie. I ate that with some carrot batons and then chased it down with a couple of plums and a coffee.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone!

Yesterday I had an all day breakfast for tea and tonight have had cottage pie made using celeriac mash with HM pickled red cabbage.

I spent AGES this morning peeling the shallots I harvested from the garden...all a bit small so will be making some pickled shallots tomorrow once they have sat overnight in brine. Friend brought round some forages gooseberries so am cooking them to freeze for a future meal.
