QUOTE My father has a 5S iOS10 with a tired battery.
Am I ok to upgrade to iOS11 ?
DONT DO IT!!
I had the same and updated an now my battery lasts for 20 mins!! I have a dispute case open with apple at moment as upgrade has killed my phone. They are really annoying me as they have said about iphone 6 batteries being replaced cheaper but not the 5s!!0 -
Microsoft do this with windows updates, despite no battery. Samsung do this with their mobile phone updates, even on older models where the battery slot opens.
I don't know why it is acceptable for microsoft and samsung to do this, but not apple.
What are you talking about ? Microsoft don't purposefully slow computers down.0 -

They do, and if you go through the microsoft help system relating to a slow running computer microsoft themselves confirm that they do this depending on the update number of the software.
Where do they say that?

Have you got any links for this about Microsoft?0 -
I know I'm not very good at explaining, my apologies. When on your computer there is the help desk. You select the nearest match to your problem, one is relating to a computer running slowly. You have to go through various options depending on how your computer is running. If you continue to say no whe asked if the problem is solved you are informed that windows updates cause computers to run slower as to ensure machines with the minimum requirements to run said system can cope. So you can have a top spec windows machine, but windows updates will penalise you.0 -

If you have a windows computer go through the desktop help guide regarding a slow running computer, as it is help desk I don't think I can provide a link, I would have to go through the process and then screen shot when I get back to work.0 -

I think you might have misunderstood what they are telling you.
There is a difference between
a. newer software having higher minimum requirements
b. down clocking the hardware so that it's slower when running software with the same minimum requirements.
Microsoft do the former, Apple do the later.
A similar analogy would be
a. lower fuel economy due to towing a caravan
b. lower fuel economy because the manufacturer puts out a firmware update.0 -

I don't misunderstand at all, I shall take a few screenshots for you when I am next at work. But anyway, the newer software did not have higher minimum requirements.0
