So my son having noticed significant issues in slow down following IOS 11 release & battery drop on his IPhone 6 paid £79 at Apple to replace battery on their advice. This was only done 29th October 2017.

Will he be entitled to a refund? Surely yes?

Yes it did but it was an obvious significant drop in performance prior to changing battery and following IOS update. Almost as though it was done on purpose to encourage upgrade of phone.

Surely no. If you buy something and 2 months later it's on sale you wouldn't expect a refund would you?

Almost as though it was done on purpose to extend the life of the battery.

An article I read last night said they were only cutting the cost until the end of 2018.

When they outline what they are doing for UK consumers, they should mention if there is a grace period for people to have the difference refunded. There was a grace period for the 'botched' iPad 3 back in 2012. Can't do any harm to ask them the question though.

This is a very different scenario. Apple have admitted there is now an issue & are providing a cheaper battery replacement option probably due to likely US legal case against them.

It was only the IOS 11 update that caused the issue suddenly.

The “slowdown” software was implemented on the 6s from iOS 10...

No it's not. Apple have not admitted there's an 'issue' either, they could be seen to be looking out for the older customers by down clocking phones with failing batteries (you do know that ALL batteries fail eventually?).

For all you or I know they could be taking a hit on the lowered price to try and negate all of the whinging and whining about this.
  • I wonder how many worshipping at the Apple church are impressed by their updates ?

I can never understand people buying Apple branded products when suitable alternatives are available at half the price and are often more reliable.

    A fool and his money...
