I wonder how many worshipping at the Apple church are impressed by their updates ?

The thing is that this is a perfectly good way to ensure their products have the maximum lifespan. It isn't planned obsolescence like many are crowing about, it's just a fact of lithium ion batteries.

That fact that Apple didn't offer cheaper/easier battery replacements sooner, and offer an unlock to the throttling if the battery were replaced - that's the moneymaking scam here.

If they hadn't have got 'outed' the other day, if the story hadn't come out about them slowing their older phones down. Do you think they'd be selling new batteries today, or would they have carried on telling customers they needed to buy a new phone.

I was shocked when I discovered that owners cannot easily change the batteries in their iPhone. I understand Samsung have now gone down the same route. They are both off my list of potential suppliers.

Many have. If the battery lasts well at 2 years then whats the issue?
My Nexus 6p was still giving great battery life at near 2 years when I sold it.

I paid £10 at Tesco for my phone, and that included £10 free minutes.
    Works for me,:p

How many times have you needed to replace your phone's battery?

Quite a few. When I got phones as part of a contract, I was getting a new phone every year or 18 months. This was very wasteful. Since I started buying my own phones outright instead of getting them on a contract, I am making them last longer. To an extent where the battery needs changing.

I also like to carry a spare battery if I am out and about and using my phone a lot.

In which case the fairly small fee to replace a battery after 2-3 years ought to be manageable. It's certainly cheaper than buying a new phone.

So do I. Since internal batteries became more difficult to replace, I just carry one of the multitude of external battery packs available from £10.

My moto e is the same. Still ok though after 4 years, going a bit lower these days, old age or doing an Apple?
