Calorie restriction doesn't mean you have to count calories.

But you do have to weigh/measure 'Healthy Extras' and 'Sins/Syns'.

As I remember, I was taught that free foods were free because they were filling and you were unlikely to overeat the foods that were free.

Don't you get bored with talking about food/diets/eating and so on?

I've only posted a couple of times, but I'm already bored with the narrowness of the 'SW vs mindless eating' arguments. Some people like one way, some another and some do something totally different.

Other than that, I don't understand why food is all that interesting unless you're either genuinely starving, or you're talking about it in a much more varied and open minded discussion. Whether that is eating plans, methods of growing/cooking, or a totally different foody subject.

Not really. Not when I have more than one person disagreeing with me. I like to debate. And sadly, as I am unable to work and have been quite under the weather this week, I have had time to reply.

And I am open minded of the fact that it (and other diets) will work for some people. Just not that many.

It is interesting to me, because I have experienced a lot due to 'issues' with food and I know a lot of people who are the same. You know what, I wish it was that easy and that diets worked for everyone. But that's just not the case and when you consider the slomming industry is worth billions, I don't think it's unreasonable to think they're in it for profits and not for the good of people's health. If dieting really worked, they'd be out of business!

I think it's more that they're having a laugh. I suspect they probably do go out more now they don't do SW and don't worry about how many syns they'll eat or drink.

And yep they are hilarious. It helps grabs people's attention. But the comments are what I was pointing out.

They're not having a laugh. They're sneering at people whose views don't match their own. Pretty sad really.

Just like the people on the SW FB groups then. It would be sad really if it what you said was true, but it isn't because actually, from the comments I read, they aren't sneering at anyone personally. Just the company.

I don't think calling people who follow SW "inmates" means they're sneering at a company. Do you ? The comments are pretty nasty to be honest.

Er, yes. Because that would be one comment out of how many?

And completely ignoring the reason I posted the links. The stories that other people have shared about how it made them and what it did to them. Obviously none of that matters eh?

And looking at the comment by the person who put 'inmates', it clearly shows ahe was mad at the company for messing with the heads of its members.

How do you know? All we know is that diets only work for a few (a small %) of the people who have responded to surveys. There must be lots of people like me who are too busy or not interested in responding to diet surveys--the diet/eating plan/whatever works and their interest in it all ends there.

I'm only responding here because I'm having a quiet weekend as I was ill recently and need to be well for work, but I still wouldn't be interested in replying to a diet survey. :o

    Fair enough.

They make billions because people (including me when I did IE) are basically stupid and don't understand that doing the same thing over and over will get the same result, over and over. People don't often understand thet they need to actually change something to get a different result.

They're not surveys. They're studies. And one of the links I previously posted was a meta analysis of 37 specially chosen different studies.

And I did wonder why you were responding when you said you weren't interested.

Again, they're only as good as the people they include in the studies. I'm sure many people do various eating plans without 'official' support and would not be included in any of those studies.

All the people for example who go to SW/WW etc, collect the starting info and then do the diet alone, to avoid paying the weekly fees/going to regular classes. How do you think they are included in any studies?

I think you take whatever seems to suit your viewpoint (that Slimming World is inherently flawed) - be it some study or Facebook page - and regurgitate it

I think you believe Slimming World messed with your head (maybe it did, and maybe it was because of your possible obsessive tendencies) and you find it impossible to accept that other people had a different experience.
